This song was nominated for 2 Grammy Awards in 1991.
One of the most beautiful ballads in rock history.
Seeing Queensrÿche live was and is the definition The art of live music.
Written by Chris DeGarmo - the guy playing classical, 12 string acoustic, and electric guitar. He's mostly retired from music, but he pops up every now and then. He has a project w/ his daughter called The Rue. They have some videos uploaded on youtube.
Geoff Tate, my God, such an amazing voice
I agree with the other comments that "I will remember" MTV unplugged would be a great follow up. It's a great ballad that has a deceptively difficult melody to sing, but that Geoff makes sound effortless!
You should do a reaction video to the unplugged, "I Will Remember".
One of the most beautiful songs ever written.
YES! Queensryche LIVE was always absolute perfection! Never saw better shows than theirs!
A lot of people were suggesting another reaction video of "I Will Remember"(about a surveillance satellite) MTV Unplugged 1992. Thats a good live one, but from that same show I'd like to also suggest "The Killing Words". After the guitar solo you see what a fearless singer Geoff is!
Cullen, I too love how the guys play what the SONG needs! They COULD shred, but it
has to fit the song.
I love that they have beautiful melodies and harmonies AND intense, powerful heavy elements as well. And, when the lyrical content calls for pain or discord, you hear that in the notes they incorporate.
Anyway, nice reaction, both of you! I agree with your comments and appreciation of the whole band. Always very tight!
Looking forward to another QR reaction from youse!
geoff tate's vocal range and breath control back in the day was epic
I prefer them live too. Producers tend to control what comes out of the studio. But when singers like Geoff unleash the beast on stage...
"They are from Seattle" that was an epic comment, cant get enough of you guys.
This performance gives me chills
The band's MTV unplugged was legendary.
Like everyone else is recommending, check out their Unplugged session. Both "I Will Remember" and "The Killing Words" are stunning performances. They also perform "Della Brown" and "The Lady Wore Black" so even if you don't react to them, you should check them out. The arrangement of those songs for the Unplugged session is just too good to pass up. Finally if you haven't heard their cover of "Scarborough Fair" it's incredible.
Did you notice Brahm's Lulliby at the end???
So many emotions in this haunting song. By the end im smiling.
One of my favourite versions of the song. Now those are real talented musicians, which are very rare nowadays...Also, I would suggest you to listen to some Rage For Order (1986) or Promised Land (1994) material, as "Someone Else?" or "Neue Regel".
The thing about Queensryche is that every album has a different sound and approach of what It is.
I believe that Chris DeGarmo left the band because life on the road was stressing his family life and he longed to help raise his family.
He was also tired of all the drama caused by certain members of the group. He almost came back and wrote and recorded some stuff for the Tribe album, but things hadn't changed, so he left for good.
credits to the late Michael Kamen for the orchestral arrangement & back-up for this great deep and subliminal rock masterpiece by QUEENSRYCHE.
My father came home one night in the late 80s asking if I'd ever heard of the band Queensryche. He'd apparently spent that evening in a bar in Issaquah Wa. sitting next to their singer chatting.
I remember watching this live, great stuff.
Thankyou Christmas DeGarmo you rock ❤from Australia
Yep Queensryche really was better live than their awesome studio version's 🔥 that really translated well in their mind blowing 🤯 concerts where they played 2 hours 👏 of all badass shit....no lie!!!
The song Silent Lucidity is from their album Empire which has a ton of great official videos on it. The first track has an official video " Best I Can" which is about a kid who is paralyzed in a gun accident when he's young but he refuses to give on life, but instead chases his dreams. The last song on the album which also has an official video "Is anybody listening" just an awesome song about the fame that comes with being a rockstar and then wondering what happens when the applause dies down.
Heard it best by Rolling Stone years ago:
Queensryche: The Thinking Man's Rock Band.
That spoken part?
"Visualize your dream, record it in the present tense
Put it into a permanent form
If you persist in your efforts, you can achieve dream control
How's that then, better?
Dream control, dream control
Help me"
A great reminder that there is no true rock music today, and hasn’t been for a long time 😑
Actually, there are many awesome rock band today. Sadly though, you'll rarely heat them on any broadcast media.
STOOPID great!!!! Even though the band members already knew an angry shake-up was coming very quickly for the band, they still went out and gave an awesome performance.
Geoff Tate take a bow beautiful voice beautiful man
Please check out any song from Queensryche MTV Unplugged 1991/1992...which is absolutely incredible. The video quality of that unplugged concert isn't the greatest but the sheer talent of Queensryche live makes up for it!
Chris DeGarmo became a private jet pilot if I remember correctly he also had started a family which he said. In my opinion he also wasn’t crazy about the direction the band started going musically but that’s just me thinking out loud. His daughter has an album out I think he plays on it correct me if I’m wrong on that one
You seem to forget that Chris (mostly) led Queensryche's musical direction until he left the band

I didn’t forget just didn’t mention it just listening to queensrych from the beginning you can hear the difference after Chris left the band. I like the band but they were better with chris and his writing in my opinion
When I heard this sounded like pink Floyd good sound love the whole show kick ass
Thinking mans metal with a hint of Pink Floyd.
Chris now is now a commercial pilot mostly smaller private jets.
You have rock orchestras all the time. Alter Bridge is a great one. Metallica did an orchestra. Pink Floyd. It is the popular thing to do right now.
They are from Bellevue not Seattle just saying
No, Geoff Tate left because of trademark issues with the Queensryche name unfortunately. He started his own band called Operation Mind crime
That's not even close to what happened.
BADLANDS.. DREAMS IN THE DARK
Your title is right, she is a jerk😂
If you like orchestras backing rock/metal acts, I highly recommend Bring Me The Horizon - Doomed - Live at the Royal Albert Hall. Well worth your time.
So who do you insinuate is the jerk?
Metallica has one Metallica s&m is them in the orchestra
I honestly don’t think that there has EVER been a Better Voice in Rock than Geoff Tate’s! His voice is ICONIC and in a league by itself! UNBELIEVABLE! I remember the day, the time, and where I was at when I heard that Queensryche broke up! I WAS CRUSHED! One of my Biggest Disappointments Ever! By the way, Cassandra, you look Better every time I see you! Young Lady, you are like a Fine Wine in that you get Better with age! YOU ARE A TOTAL SMOKE SHOW!
Btw WE DONT ALL LIKE IT WHEN YOU GO ON ABOUT "FACTS" THAT YOU ARE USUALLY WRONG ABOUT! LOL VLOVE YOU.. I DO LOVE YOUR PASSION FOR THIS MUSIC AND YOU ARE VERY SWEET BUT TALK AFTER THE SONG NOT DURING ...❤
Dracula is a amazing singer ❤
Sorry folks but the Jerk is so feminine and soft spoken. Kind of bored me to tears when he spoke.
🤔
Huh, I thought he was the musician.
@@wyattradke9763 Lol I am.
Metallica S&M if you want an orchestra with a rock/metal band!
Chris DeGarmo wrote the song! When he left, Geoff Tate is still acting like it's HIS song !
You have no idea what you’re talking about. This was written by Tate and Geronimo
C'mon Cullen. Why would you do this version of a truly magnificent song?. I don't understand.
Not everyone is a mindless sheep
Hush now, don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
Spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over... or has it just begun?
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
Commanding in another world
Suddenly you hear and see
This magic new dimension
I- will be watching over you
I- am gonna help you see it through
I- will protect you in the night
I- am smiling next to you, in Silent Lucidity
[spoken during solo]
(Visualize your dream)
(Record it in the present tense)
(Put it into a permanent form)
(If you persist in your efforts)
(You can achieve dream control)
(Dream control)
(How are we feeling today, better??)
(Dream control, dream control)
(Help me)
If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you built within
Come tumbling down, and a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
You're safe from pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
A round trip journey in your head
Master of illusion, can you realize
Your dream's alive, you can be the guide but...
I- will be watching over you
I- am gonna help to see it through
I- will protect you in the night
I- am smiling next to you....
