It's day two of Halloween week! And today's project is a Medieval Plague Mask.
With just a few very basic materials you can make this mask. I give you
the template and show you step by step what to do.
You too can be an Apothecary during the Plague.

Hey man even though this is old video I just want to say that this exact piece was the first mask I've ever made 4 years ago. Through this project I've found my passion for creating masks and costumes and I just wanted to thank you for your awesome work! It's nice to see you still gping after all these years. This was sick cuz I just finished mine and in my ancient world civilization class we need to dress up in a mid evil costume I wanted to do a plague doctor but I didn't have the mask now I do thanks a lot Man! You earned a subscriber!!

I've been looking for good plague mask tutorials for halloween, and all of them involve leatherworking or other advanced techniques, but this is great for somebody like me who knows fuckall about crafting. Really creative method for making the masks!
This is by far the best and easiest tutorial that I found on the Internet. I already made two masks for Halloween and I love it! Nice work!

Man, I really did appreciate the tutorial with the templates and all. The good news is that I put a lot of time and effort into mine and it turned out really well. The bad news is that while I was making it I got so involved in it that I neglected to walk and/or play with our dog on a daily basis. One morning I woke up to the sounds of Buffy growling and trashing something around. Yep, you guessed it. My mask had been ripped to shreds. I never even got to use it .. "smh"
My son in 7th grade made this for a project and it came out awesome!! Love that it was something he could do on his own and not expensive to make. Thank you!
This is actually the first time I've seen someone do a mask like this and I have to say it look pretty cool.
My six year old has been begging me to be a plague doctor for Halloween this year. I have been concocting ideas but this is easy and awesome. Thanks to you my son is gonna be so happy :D

you can use brass brads with the folding pins in the back to reenforce the bridge of the beak. take your xacto and make small vertical slits all the way through the tabs.

Why is that? The point of the video is to show a quick way to make a mask for halloween. Cardboard and ducktape are lot easier to get (and it's cheaper), so more people can use them. Nothing prevents *you* from making it out of leather.
Funny you should make this! I've been finishing a Plague Doctor mask using some of your methods (cereal box cardboard, your papier mache tutorial)!

Hello, I made the mask and wanted to make it white but I had no white tape, but I did have white spray paint, now this turned out to be a happy accident because it turned out better, it was more firm and felt more real, it reflected light like leather (depending on the texture) and it looked perfect, it looked more realistic than the regular duct tape one by far and I would recommend engineers blue( or any color really) tape to cover it then spray paint it and it will be perfect, also, side note don't use rubber cement if you want to add the metal bits along the mask but for everything else it's fine!

You could also swap out the duck tape with old looking brown or black cloth to give it a more authentic look. Other than that great video :D

This, sir, is fantastic!! I am planning on making this in the near future. I just downloaded the templates. I really don't have any good time to use/wear it. but this will be a great costume for those times I need one. :) Can you recommend any particular types of cloth to cover this mask with...and perhaps how to hold it on? I am just thinking that a cloth cover will look a little nicer then the duct tape. :)
Also, I do have a cheap felt top hat, but do you have any recommendations for getting/making a plague doctor's top hat?
