  • Detailed video explaining how to completely install a shampoo bowl hair wash station and a back bar. Bowl and salon chairs purchased and shipped freight from Minerva beauty. I speak specifically on assembling chairs, how to use concrete anchors and secure the bases to the floor, the steps to attach the sink to the bowl stand, hooking up the plumbing, water lines, and fixtures and where may be the best place to install. I also give tips on making the process easier and issues I came across during this project. This can be a do it yourself project aside from maybe hiring a plumber to tap into your commercial water source.
This setup has worked really well in our salon, "Deeply Rooted", in West Hartford, Connecticut. The reclining chairs are made of leather and very comfortable to our clients. The bowl itself also tilts front and back to allow a better comfort level.
I also built a back bar out of plywood with a pine top so the stylists can store their shampoo, conditioners, and hair treatments.

From looking at the drain, that fixture is double trapped, That trap should be lower so the drain hose from the sink does not create another trap. In Jersey a Hair trap is necessary to be installed as well. And as other qutes no Teflon tape on compression fitting , I myself use liquid teflon on all compression fittings. Holding back on that valve body is important as well while connecting the spray hose.

No teflon tape on compression fittings or braided hoses to brass pipe or shut off valves. Hoses have rubber seats that seal against end of pipe on the one end and brass to brass seats on the compression side. Teflon tape or pipe dope is for threaded fitting, elbows, couplings, unions, either brass, steel or plastic.

You dont need plumber's tape for those conection, the gasket on the hoses is what seals those conection. It doesnt damage it, is just that dont need it.

    • @IllGetMyTools

That’s a lot to say. Basically I just built a frame out of 2x4s and covered the front and sides with a Sheet of finished plywood. The top I just put on a 1x8 peice of finished pine.

You have brand new PEX connections for your water supply lines. Why didnt you use 5/8 angle stops? An extra hose is an extra leak liability and if you are installing multiple chairs its not cost effective. You dont use Teflon Tape on water supply lines the rubber cone insert is what seals the connection when squeezed. Teflon hinders the nut from grabbing thread to squeeze the rubber cone for a direct connection.

Could have prepped the sink before installing on base. Could be hair trap in basement? Also don't need teflon on compression fittings, hence "compression". Liquid teflon make the nut and thread smoother. Afraid of crushing nipple thread, use a shoulder nipple. Use "scissor" method for tightening fittings , 1/4 turn shut off valves are awful. Should of taken spray head off before running water for possible debris in water piping. Really don't think this mechanic is a plumber
