    Hi Ron. Wow! I am totally impressed. I wish you lived near me to fix my leak. When I put water in my hot tub, it leaks all the way to the bottom! I really wish I could figure out where it is leaking. Thanks! I love handymen.

    OK I will share my 2 cent fix. The flex line into one of the PVC elbows was dripping. I cleaned the joint out with a thin straight edge screwdriver, it had some foam around it. I cleaned it a little bit down into the flex where it was leaking. Then I wrapped it with teflon tape, and carefully shoved the tape into the joint where it was leaking. I did this a few times, pushing the tape into the joint. No leak. I'll hit it with some silicone after it dries. OK 10 cents of silicone, the 12 cent fix. Necessity is the mother of invention I had to think about this one.

    Like the video! Wondering when do you typically see leaks starting, years 7,8,9..etc? Are there some brands worse then other for leaking? Keep it up!

    You mentioned that maybe freezing caused the leak? I have a dreammaker and it has no access panels. It is one piece with open bottom. Leaks all the way to bottom. Happend right after -40 degrees we had in Denver then 65 a couple of days later.

    I thought you just had to worry about connections. Scary that the tubing would deteriorate that much!

    What about a tub that is solid plastic- can I cut away sections in a last ditch effort to find leak? Or, will it be structurally unsound after cutting off sides? This whole tub thing has been nothing but a hassle, IMO. Considering zaw saw to cut it up and throw out in sections.

    • @channelron3593
      @channelron3593  Před 2 lety

      Sure as long as you are not cutting in the tub you should be fine.

    How long do I've to wait to turn the hot tub on after gluing the pipe it's hot weather here right now

  • @my_autistic_dexlexic_life

    Rob, don't be offended but primer is a compound used to clean and break down impurities on the surface of the pvc. That being said its clearly not dry before you added your glue and it breaks that chemical down too. That is the wrong glue - Oatey rain or shine blue glue is great sold at home depot next to the stuff that you used, put that on, and wipe it off to clean your pipes and its a much better primer..
    I've seen 30 year experience plumbers do the same thing and uts because its not vital pressurized lines and they are in a hurry.
    Apply to both pieces and twist them until they lock up. That will hold 150 psi. Any other technique or product will make you learn the hard way if your putting your name on your work.
    I do tub repair for a living to support a family of 6. Your leak detection technique is remarkable and I will use that technique sometime.

    Hi , good video. What are the two kinds of glue you used? One was purple colored and one was cream colored? And what kind of foam did you use at the end? Please let me know.Thank you!

    • @channelron3593
      @channelron3593  Před 8 lety +2

      the purple is a primer, and the other is just pvc cement, I use it on plumbing around the house, got it a lowes, the foam is great stuff also from lowes. hope this helps.
