  • Thank you to everyone we met there and to the people that helped pull up these stingrays.

Few suggestions for you.....take it as you will. I've never fished torpedo, but I've fished the bay and outside the gate since I was a teenager (42 now). Your first fish was most likely a big ray. They'll strip line and spool you if you're not careful. When I'm bottom fishing, all my rigs are set up with 65lb power pro braided line. That high test braided line allows you to drag those rays to the surface and keep them there so they can't swim. Rays have that smooth, hard pull that other fish don't have, so it's pretty easy to know when you have a ray. Most all other fish shake a lot when they're hooked. You need to get the ray to the surface as fast as possible and keep it there while reeling as fast as you can. They can't fight you unless they're under at least 6-8" of water, so drag them to the surface and reel like crazy to where they're essentially skipping across the top of the water. Last tip, fish the incoming tide. You'll get less rays if you fish 2-3 hours after low tide to 1-2 hours after the top of the tide. Great video though.....nice music. Best of luck on your next fishing adventure.
