Why is this court decision different from other decisions by the same Supreme Court that have not been obeyed either by the President of Nigeria or even governors. This is a country where leaders with impunity decide which decision to obey as long as it suits their fancy. Local Government autonomy decision is much ado about nothing. Even the Supreme Court has no autonomy.

Politicians in Nigeria see us as fools that’s why we are the way we are today, they keep on destroying our lives gradually, things getting worse daily while they and their families are living large and safe from hunger and insecurity the common people pass through, not until we take our future in our own hands, these politicians and corrupt civil servants won’t have sense, we need to eat them for breakfast when we are hungry.

Nigeria is a damaged country. The governors will still find a way to thwart the ruling. A case in point is the new electoral law. People jubilated, believing that the new law would end electoral malpractice in the country. We saw in 2023, how corrupted INEC messed it up with corrupted judiciary in concurrence. Until the judiciary learn their critical role in the survival of this wobbling country, there is no hope for the country.

    Learned Law Prof.
The Supreme Court ruling is simply, ……..“ patching an old- worn out clothing with a new piece of cloth “
So long as our elections remains “Professor Yakubu Mahmood election”, and the current state electoral commission, in which citizens votes doesn’t count…. Because it’s the governor that “SELECTS”whom to be“baptized” as the winner as the chairperson of each local government in their various states, even if the money is wired from CBN to the private account of the “ governor’s selected chairperson “ he/she is obliged to bring the money to his/her godfather..,,”the governor” since he that pays the piper dictates the turn of the music… they say
But if the chairperson emerges through a free and fair election, then he/she will be accountable to the people because he would be compelled to impress the people in order to be returned again after his/her tenure expires
All in all all efforts should be channeled to having a truly independent electoral commission from federal to local government level

This ruling does not change anything, Nigeria is a failed state where nothing works.
The state governors are emperors, they pocket the state house of assembly. The local government chairman aspirants will be chosen in the governor's bedroom and rigged via the state independence electoral commission irrespective of the wish of the majority of people in the local government.
These handpicked chairman/errand boy of the governor will enter unholy alliance to give whatever percentage of the local govt allocation to the governor before they are picked by the emperor governor, failure to comply is political suicide by any stubborn LG chairman who wants to resist the governor after coming to office.
Our democracy is a total failure, the judiciary is pocketed by the executive, the police and security agencies, inec are bulldozer to declare the incumbent government in power winners of rigged elections.
The pressure groups,NLC,student union have all being emasculated by the corrupt political party in power at every level from abuja to all the states in the country
To crown the hopeless situations is the timid passive Nigeria masses or followers who have refuse to take their destiny in their hands by overthrowing the corrupt elite through a massive revolution.
