      Mine too! I'm not sure if it's just these Portrait machines, since I've never used other ones, but it has been an issue for a long while with no 100% solutions. So I've had to do what I can. Manually moving the cut lines in the direction needed seems to be the best way to get better results when drift cut is bad, but it's so frustrating and time consuming. But, what can we do, right? It's not like most of us have the money to buy a bunch of other machines to see which gives the best results lol.

    • @honeytulipcreations9307
      @honeytulipcreations9307  Před 2 lety +1

      Unfortunately the only thing helps my drifting issues is a brand new mat or taping paper to mat. But even doing this does not always work. And moving actual cut lines in the document always helps though it is terribly time consuming. Also, make sure your paper is covering the gray or black lines of your mat when you are placing your paper on the mat. These things have helped but nothing is a guarantee to help all the time.

    • @honeytulipcreations9307
      @honeytulipcreations9307  Před 3 lety +1

      I'm glad it was helpful! As for the lines, I line my paper up on the mat on top of the lines, making sure not to go past them. When I've placed my paper directing below/alongside the guide lines, my registration would fail or the cut would be really off.

    • @honeytulipcreations9307
      @honeytulipcreations9307  Před rokem +1

      Whenever I get registration issues, I check two things...lighting and paper on mat placement...I have a lamp that is bent directly over the cutter so that the machine can read the marks correctly...and if the paper left corner and top are not directly covering the mat guide lines, the registration will fail most times...if I know the lighting is good and my mat guide lines are covered by the paper and I still get failed registration, then I unplug the machine for a few seconds and plug back in...this always seems to do the trick...and of course, I never change my registration settings, so make sure you watch that part of the video to see the settings I use...hope this helps

    Hi! I’m not planning to use portrait 3 for stickers. I do make souvenirs made of special paper with thickness of 220 GSM and i’m planning to buy this machine to assist me with simple cutting while i do the rest of the designs by hand. Would you know if this can cut thru 220 GSM thickness of vellum board? Thank you and hoping to hear from you.

    • @honeytulipcreations9307
      @honeytulipcreations9307  Před 2 lety

      Hi! Honestly, I have no idea the maximum material thickness the Portrait 3 is capable of cutting, but I can tell you from experience that just with the auto blade it comes with, it won't cut through 80lb cardstock laminated with 5 mil lamination. There could be a deep cut blade that could be used with this machine, but that is something I have not had the chance to look into. It would be worth researching though.

    • @honeytulipcreations9307
      @honeytulipcreations9307  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi there! Well, the only other tips I can tell you is one, make sure you have adequate light shining down on your machine, especially the blade area (I have a lamp that sits directly over my cutter), and two, you can go over your registration marks by hand with a fine tip marker or pen to make them darker (sometimes they don't print dark enough and cutter can read them).

    • @honeytulipcreations9307
      @honeytulipcreations9307  Před 2 lety +1

      Also, sometimes my machine just gets tired after a bunch of cuts and starts acting silly, so I will turn it off and unplug it's cord and then plug it back in...this seems to help.
