    Cars in the 70s and 80s were often washed with washing up liquid. Every now and then the vehicle was treated to a going over with the good old fashioned Turtle wax in a tin. Pretty solid stuff that was applied with a damp cloth. You needed arms like Popeye and half a day to buff it back off but the result was good. Didn't stop the cars rotting though 😂😂

      Never used the tinned turtle wax but I did do my first little fiesta from top to toe with a product called Mer. That was the same, you ended up with shoulders like the Rock after buffing that stuff off.😂

    Whilst not the best method which I understand you did here for demo purposes, the lesson here is that it's better than going to the cheap car washes!

    When I started driving 35 year ago, washing up liquid was the only thing I knew for washing my cars, the shine of the cars soon disappeared after a few washes

      However, this is a challenge. I would definitely recommend using a dedicated car care cleaning product

      Wheel cleaning seems to take me a while always seem to have 1 wheel on every car ive owned that never cleans up like the others on inside of the wheel the other 3 alloys are always spotless no matter what wheel cleaner I use .

    do not use washing up liquid in the main bodywork it contains ammonia so will dully the paintwork

    Salt is used as the thickener for fairy liquid and any other washing up liquid.

    If you were on a really tight budget you could have got baby shampoo instead of car shampoo it’s ph neutral and lubricated so it isn’t harsh on your babies skin or your cars paint and it costs a quid 😅 the rac towel is rubbish but it’s good for windows

      @@vulpixdetailing try it 🤷🏻‍♂️ even when I was skint I still wanted to keep my car clean and it wasn’t terrible it did a better job than fairy washing up liquid but to be fair a bucket full of spit would probably do a better job than fairy on paint work 😅

    You should have got a dog towel instead of the RAC towel. cheaper and better. Those microfibre pads are pretty good, I've got one in my interior bag. I've also tried the concentrated Fabulosa APC, I wasn't to bad.

    The yellow bottles of cheap degreaser stuff work wonders as an apc/pre wash. Dilute about 1/3 in a sprayer.

    even if this is doing it on a cheaper scale, its still so much better than what 90% of people do. As most just dont clean their cars or do it once every 8 months 😂

    I always tear the labels of my drying towels and microfiber cloths. To avoid scratching.

    Hi guys what product do you suggest for washing black grey streaks stains off white car? I took my car through an automated garage carwash but its put stains all down the paintwork on the doors and boot which won’t wipe off or wash off with water or not even fairy!😂 Seriously p*ssed off. What’s the best product to lift off these marks and general crap before I give it a home handwash and protection without costing a fortune?

      That could be possible chemical staining. Try a good local valeter or detailer in your area 😉

      @@Gina0151 Was always plagued with black streaks on my caravans and motorhomes. I found caravan black streak remover worked or try Autoglym super resin polish. That has a gentle cutting effect that works well.

    That sponge action and noise reminded me and made me cringe even more as a couple of years ago my neighbors had dried in bird poop on the roof of there car and the wife was outside using a (non scratch) scouring pad to get it off my wife shouted me upstairs and said here look at this as she knew it would go through me she thought it was hilarious, omg i cringed so bad that day, but as for fairy i think it was forensic detailing (jon) i watched a few years ago did a video on it and i have since once to twice a year used it to removed the remnants of my Soft Fusso 99 before i re-polish and wax and its brilliant for that.

      For an easy to had degreaser, no issue in preparation for waxing or sealants.

      @@vulpixdetailing i still buy the standard sponges i buy them in a 3 set but for 1 purpose only i cut them up into 3 smaller pieces they are brilliant for applying Tyre dressing i have tried many Tyre dressing applicator's over the years and still get the best results with the cheap sponges especially when pressing down on them to push the dressing into the lettering etc.

    What do you mean by a rinse aid sorry ? Do you mean a car polish wax that seals the car ?

      A rinse aid is something that can be sprayed on the car that helps to disperse the water.
      I like to use ONR (Optimum no rinse). It helps with rinsing and drying the car.

      Turtle Wax Seal n Shine is a good option for a budget friendly sealer/rinse aid.
      £8.99 in local Halfords.

    I like the idea of this. But I'm assuming (as your a detailer) this would have previos protection from good quality products already. So my point is this an unfair test? What about finding someone with a car that's not been properly detailed before and give that the same treatment. Now that would be a test!

    White vinegar is the best thing to spray on alloys for brake dust etc. Add some detergent do it sticks to the alloys.

    Been using fairy liquid on my detailing business for 37 years only on the wheels …..never had a complaint ever = winner …..waste of money all the other crappy products / over rated products ….snow foam pump job done.

    Ive had car shampoo and polish from there and its great , i own a funeral fleet and they look great after it ive never had a problem with their products
