- Author and pastor, Dr. Robert J. Morgan, talks history of the hymns of the church. These timeless hymns of the praise and worship are part of the history of the Christian faith. Regardless of how the song is presented stylistically, southern gospel, gospel, praise & worship contemporary Christian, the song and the lyrics of these songs is what has stood the test of time. These songs are great no matter if they're performed instrumental, acoustic, orchestra, or a'capella.
Dr. Morgan authored the 3 volume set "Then Sings My Soul." This book is the inspiration behind my idea to release a solo CD called "The Story & The Song" Hymns of our Faith.
I believe it's important for us to preserve the history of the music of our faith, and this is mine and Dr. Morgan's attempt at doing that.

Hymns forever!
Just loved this discussion! My Grandpa and Grandma gathered their family around the piano and sang hymns. As did my mother and father with my siblings and children. Hymns bare testimony of God and lift our souls to Him in love and joy! I hope the old hymns will always be with us. ❤
Outstanding video. I've been wanting to teach a very simple church music appreciation class. One that outlays the history as you did in the video. Can you recommend some books? I have your "Then Sings My Soul" with great hymn stories, but would also like some history too. Thank-you

Just listened to this interview yes I agree to a point having both hymns contemporary songs however australia in many churches hymns have been thrown out odd churches you may be lucky to get a hymn some evangelical Anglicans sing hymns many baptist noodd one may get one or two some of the modern songs are not biblical some of refuse 5o sing them written by non Christians paid by Hill song to write them one writer interviewed was not a Christian nor did he want to be it was the money
In my church I see people 2ho will not sing contemporary songs but put a hymn in the voices are raised
