I am a 19 year old third baseman, outfielder, and RHP and I am 83-85 and top at 86 off the mound even with arthritis in my throwing elbow and people think that I have a scary fastball but this kid is throwing mid 90s at 4 years younger than me. As I’ve gotten older, 43 now, I shudder sometimes when seeing these young guns pitching. By 14 I too was throwing low 90’s from the mound but eventually it caught up to me. My Freshman year in High School ended with severe tendinitis which took three months of rehab. Growing up I had always played 3rd base and pitcher. Growing up in South Florida we were able to play year round without much of a break. Nobody had me slow down. Each league, coaches had me out there pitching. I was still able to play college ball thankfully but by then I knew my arm was pretty shot. Still consistently had my fastball clocked at 92 in college but it took so much to get and stay there as my shoulder was jello. When I play softball now I always play first base as I don’t have to throw that much. I tried playing third but the pain from throwing made playing miserable. Sorry for my rant... I just hope someone keeps him from pitching too much and ruining that arm. Good luck young buck. 👍

      @hoteltrivago1380 Před 3 lety +2

      Hey just curious as I am a senior in high school. Did that happen to your arm because of having a very strong arm? Or was it mechanics, example pushing the ball. I have recently been noticing that I tend to push the ball when I make throws from the outfield, leading to almost spiking the ball and losing velo. So I am wondering if you pushed the ball, because if you were throwing with correct mechanics, your arm would have no problems correct?

    • @jamiec6504
      @jamiec6504 Před 3 lety +3

      @@hoteltrivago1380 it was simply overuse. Growing up in South Florida I played year round. I would play 2 seasons of travel ball back to back (Legion & PAL) and then school ball. However, I was pitching way too much. None of my coaches utilized a proper pitch count and I never got the proper rest. I would be pitching consistently in each of the three leagues without proper rest which is why by the age of 14 I had severe shoulder tendinitis which resulted in 3 months of physical therapy 3 days a week. This also happened again my junior year of high school. In college I was on a proper pitchers workout program designed specifically for arm strength however, like I said by then my shoulder was a torn mess.

    I hate to be that guy, but I was consistently throwing 90-91mph at 14 years old. I blew out my arm and was out of baseball by 17. Every coach wanted me to play for them, and to pitch every game. It was just too much wear and tear on my arm. I also didn't have the best mechanics. They were good, but not the level they needed to be pitching so much. It's fun to throw that hard, but it's better to just play a position and hit. I'd just pitch every once in a while and work on mechanics until you get till around age 17-18. At this rate you'll be drafted high and highly recruited by colleges either way.

    Please please PLEASE to the adults close to this kid. Treat his arm like the golden egg it is. He will be just fine and play at a high level from what he's able to do right this minute. He's already got the blueprint but HAS to be forced to preserve his gift over the next several years. There is a thing as throwing too hard too young. It's not if a kid can throw this hard it's how often he does. He is still very much susceptible to growth plate injuries at his age no matter how proper he warms up or stretches. Our arms have odometers on them so it's never if injury will occur its when. He is placing an enormous amount of stress on his UCL with his velocity at such a young age. He's a big strong kid who while humble it appears still thinks he's invincible as we all did so the grown ups around him must protect him from himself and keep him healthy. This is such a beautiful sport but too many who can influence do not allow the journey to develop properly. Thanks for willing to read my rant if you made it this far. Good luck kid!!

      @@thrin1454 90 off a tee is the baseline for what their looking for in mlb, off pitchers throwing 90 is where their exit velo gets over 100 consistently

    Looks like he has a big frame. Possibly a taller guy 6'3+. Great footwork for his size and age. Strong kid with a strong arm so hes still relying on the arm a tad more than his lower half on some of those balls but im sure he was fatigued etc.
    Im sure he hits for great power judging by his swing but I could see him getting jammed by a pitcher with good velocity and or good tail on the fastball.
    Seems like more of a natural fielder than a pitcher. I think 94 mph velocity is a major stretch...unless they meant 94mph from the field. Im sure that mid 90s velocity will come.
    Then again..its a short video so hard to judge. But those are my impressions.

    How the hell do these young guys throw that hard. I’m 16 about to be 17 in a couple months and I throw 83-85. Once in a while 86. I can’t even imagine throwing low to mid 90s.
