    Thanks for the mention Chris. This is a pretty sweet little HomeKit lamp. It's like a mini version of the Xiaomi Bedside Lamp 2, which I also love. Great video!

      Thanks Shane! Really glad you had figured out the Siri Shortcuts trick. I still don’t understand why more manufacturers don’t expose their dynamic scenes in a better way. At least it works!

    I love stand-always new HomeKit lamps. The number of options seems to be growing every day. It’s also nice to be able to smack it!

      Definitely agree. It’s awesome that there is starting to be a lot of variety in Homeoit lamps. Sure we could always buy a bunch of smart light bulbs and retrofiit our non-smart lamps but there’s something nice about having it built in. And definitely enjoy smacking it. :)

    Hi, the little white circle on the front, is that a lit button or just white ? Is the lamp completely dark when turned off ?

    • @Homekitgeek
      @Homekitgeek  Před 3 lety +1

      It’s just white - not lit. The lamp is completely dark when turned off - It does go very dim though. Strangely enough - it seems to go dimmer when controlled by the Yeelight app than when it is controlled by the Homekit app. Might be firmware or app related but something I’ve noticed that’s a bit strange.

    Hey, can I pre-set the lamp to turn on always on night light mode? (without using the app)? and is the lamp remember the last definition it had when it turned off, and going back to the same definition when turning it on again?

    Hello Chris. Great Video.
    I'm not very familiar with Yeelight lamps, could you please tell me if this product (or the Yeelight range) require a dedicated Hub in order to communicate with Homekit?

    • @Homekitgeek
      @Homekitgeek  Před 4 lety

      Hey Joao! No dedicated hub required here. Just wifi (2.4Ghz) network to connect.

    Hi Chris,sorry for the silly question..but with the likes of this product (and products in general),should you set it up in the yeelight or dedicated app first?? or can just just dive into homekit,scan your code and away you go?

    • @Homekitgeek
      @Homekitgeek  Před 3 lety +1

      Actually this is a great question! It really depends on what your goals are. The app is needed for a couple of things: 1 firmware updates is the big one here and I would always suggest getting firmware update to date. Once that’s done you could definitely delete it from the Yeelight app and only use HomeKit. As far as the order of operations - Personally I add things in Home first just as a habit. Then go over to the vendor app and see what happens. Yeelight will detect that there’s a Yeelight product in HomeKit that’s not in the app and ask if Yiu want to import it. Simple and easy.

      @@Nagfan09 Really appreciate the support and I'm glad you're finding them useful! Not sure if you've found @shanecreates channel yet ( czcams.com/users/ShaneCreates ) but he just put out a Homekit 101 video which might also help out!

      Hi Julian, Best I can suggest is to contact the Yeelight support team. According to the Yeelight website - they recommend that you use the forum located here forum.yeelight.com

    Hi Chris, i have the lightstripe plus yeelight and i cant added to HomeKit, dont have the code number or a qr code. Its supose to auto generate the code for added to home app. Did you know how to do it or where i can ask to resolve this problem.
    Thanks men in advance

    • @Homekitgeek
      @Homekitgeek  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey David - I haven’t tested out the lightstrip plus yet so can’t comment on that, but the Yeelight lamp I have does have a homekit code on that bottom of it. I’m wondering if you somehow picked up a similar model which isn’t homekit compatible? I would start with the Yeelight.com website to see if you can somehow get it sorted out for you. I have a feeling you might not have a compatible product, but at the very least, they should be able to confirm that.
