- FLASHBACK FRIDAY!! This was recorded in 2020 as part of "Rammsteinweek" on the channel just before Christmas and sadly my reaction was blocked then removed from youtube. I don't know why but now it can be viewed again - Back then, I somehow anticipated that there may be some issues so please excuse all the clunky "Play by Play" description - I feel I know so much more about what drives this band and the imagery Rammstein draws upon on their videos then what I understood when this reaction was shot. Most importantly in the third part of the song you have her friend talk about how she is the most beautiful person on earth - if you look at her with your heart instead of with your eyes. The reveal of "she is very beautiful" being the very last three words of the song.
9:53 Till has stage fright. He uses different techniques to overcome this. He will often sing with his eyes closed or pick an object or point in the venue to focus on as he sings. This becomes more obvious on the slower songs when he is having to sing properly. In the early days of Rammstein he wore slit view polar expedition goggles, it became one of his trademark looks

The mask is from the du hast video....and the whistle tone in Engel was Richard (guitarist) actually whistling.
Paul always goofs around and laughs, from the very first video clips we have. He is such a ray of sunshine.
Flake didn't have a treadmill at the time. During the show, he still rode a Segway across the stage. At a later concert he accidentally ran over Till and injured him. After that they forbade Flake to move on stage.
This song has my favorite word creation from Till.
He turns the word Angesicht (face) into Ungesicht (unface) just by replacing the first letter.
Rammstein is what happens when opera has a baby with heavy metal. It's a love child! ❤
When you first noticed Flake he was looking to his right and he started to laugh. Then you see Paul and he is laughing. They are both looking at Till. I wish I could have seen what till was doing. Also, that box in front of Till is a pedestal, that he will sometimes stand on, and it houses a retractable mike stand. I do believe…
Till forgot to sing the next phrase, that's why they are all laughing.

As a Brit, I'm so grateful that I was at the Arene de Nimes to see the gig in the south of France. A stunning night - warm weather, friendly locals and a marvellous spectacle. I was overjoyed to see that it was being recorded.
Till, at the time this was recorded, had pretty intense stage fright and made every effort to minimize eye contact with the audience. He would often look out and upward over the audience, or he would look downward. I think his stage fright has dissipated over the years.

The text has been written some 25 years ago by Till himself and is one of Rammsteins best songs. Trust me, whatever this is, he needs no monitor for the lyrics.
It's just a Box for standing on. You can see through it.
Also in the end he sings about seeing her with his heart noticing that she really beautiful.
Völkerball (German for "Dodgeball")
Was recorden in Les Arènes de Nîmes, France, 23 July 2005.
It is a Roman amphitheatre, situated in the French city of Nîmes.
Built around 70 CE, shortly after the Colosseum of Rome, it is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world.
Several groups has recorder their concerts in that theatre.
Metallicas Français pour une nuit (English: French for One Night) is one of them.
Saw them at Brixton Academy (London) on this tour, by far the smallest venue I'd ever get to see them play.
Everytime I've seen them since has been in some massive arena so this was pretty special for me.
this is Nîmes roman arena in south France, so you were almost right with your idea of Coliseum ^^

No shade, truly, but I can't help but giggle every time an English speaker pronounces "Flake" like it rhymes with "cake". 😂
Just fyi, it's pronounced more like (the English equivalent of) "flock-eh" - the "a" in "Flake" is an "ah" (not "ay") and the "e" at the end isn't silent in German.
Don't even get me started on people pronouncing Richard's last name like it rhymes with "crust", lmaooooo.

Rammstein is Poetry
Morningstar is an Old Testament name for Lucifer (I am NOT saying they're into Satan, Morningstar is also a New Testament name for Jesus - so there) & one article I've read posits the interpretation that the song is about a woman who feels/is told she is so ugly that she despairs and asks Lucifer to make her beautiful so that she can come out of hiding/isolation and into the light of day/a new day or life. It also ties in with a poem Till wrote that mentions praying to God for beauty.
I personally feel like the song is also a commentary on the societal standards of beauty, Rammstein do frequently utilize multiple meaning in their songs. One reason I love 'em! It certainly wouldn't be the only time they've commented on society's standards on beauty; Zick Zack for instance, & possibly why they covered Kraftwerk's Das Modell.
P.S. The whistle in Engel is actually Paul and Richard, the rhythm and lead guitarists, whistling.

Like many have already stated, the mask is from the Du Hast music video, also in this show (not sure we can see her in this video), a girl was wearing the same Snow White dress as in their Sonne music video.
In response to your comments about Til's box by his feet, This is An earlier concert. Til is very shy and it in his early concerts he would wear special glasses with suits in them so he didn't see the crowd. So hes not really looking at lyrics hes closing his eyes.
This box where he stands on, is called ego box, it ist just to stand on to boost your height and ego, also there are equipment like light, smoke and stuff like this inside. As far as i know. It is a pretty common thing for bands.
Fun Fact: "Morgenstern" can also translated to the weapon "flail"

I think the mask the guy wears in the crowd resembles the masks the band is waering in the official "Du Hast" video.

Very good there is a second voice doubling for till during this whole song I'm guessing either a backing track or Richard is providing the backing vocals but thank you for reacting to this song because this is a very underrated great song

I understand that this is most likely a bad level of vocals from a professional point of view :D Till has flaws in singing and it's obvious. For example here 12:13, but one cannot but agree that the vocal melody in the chorus still sounds pretty nice
I love this song so much but i can't stand when reactors stops every 5 seconds, it's ruining all the vibe

@Nunpho Why? A lot of reactors just listen to music and speak after. Or make at least 2-3 stops during the video. That is fine by me.
But imagine, can you enjoy any song, if you will stop it every 10 seconds?

@@deefo I'd understand that if you only wanted to listen to the song. One of the channels I follow rewinds a little after every stop so that she doesn't miss anything. I think that's a good compromise.
