Always hated Danny Baker. I've never seen anyone so involved with British comedy back in the day who just didn't get how comedy works. I think his problem was he saw comedy as a competition where he HAD to win and his attempts at one upping a genuinely talented comic were just cringe worthy which is evident at around 21:22 where he completely sucks the funny out of the room instead of playing along. How that man made a living I'll never know
Yep. I hate that type of person. You might not agree, but I put Phil Jupitus and Bill Bailey in that same category. They spoilt QI when they were on for the same reason. They thought it was all about them.
@@gorber1971 I agree with this, particularly with Jupitus. Can't say it made me dislike him as he seems nice enough but some people just can't function when the environment isn't just about them.
@@gorber1971 each to their own i guess, i think Life of brian & fawlty towers are awesome cult classics, i know some people that just dont get it. I think Phil jupiters is a very loud unfunny turd. I think phil bailey is funny & rsther surreal with his spur of the moment comments. I remember being behind Bob Mortimer going through the tills at Food Giant in Hill Street Center once. All the time, I was wondering whether it was him or not, and then I manged to catch a glimpse of his card when he paid, and it said Robert Mortimer. I haven't seen many famous people in my life, so it sticks in my mind.

It is so mad, to see ulrika at 14:17 sandwiched between convicted peedo Freddy Talbott and also, Louise Wiener, from the Britpop band called Sleeper. You really could not, make it up. Well done, Vic and Bobbington, for this post-modern laff that you have created in me!!
Fascinating look in! But why is no-one talking about Will Self's admittance that participation in the show severely worsened his mental health? From 29:30
Does everyone under 25 go to university.?.Big Night Out started out pretty niche and the 'people that attended university' took to it. Hence the university tour. It was pretty surreal and kinda cerebral. Perfect stoner stuff as well.
@@adriandenton6637 Yes. Stoners and indeed others also liked their stuff. The fact that they appealed to students and in that sense had a student fan base, off the back of which I also guess a university tour was organised, was not an exclusive appeal.
Sounds like You Bet Your Life with actual insanity. Who CARES who wins the game - you're here for Vic and Bob, just like you watched You Bet Your Life for Groucho.
Hopefully, one day, Bob will be left the entire Sky TV empire by Rupret Mydick. Then he'll commission a Vic and Bob channel. Then we shall all die with a smile on our faces.
There's not a lot to 'get'. That's probably your problem, trying to make sense of the non-nonsensical. It works at a really fundamental level, like slapstick, which it comprises a lot of.
Shooting Stars taught me that Sidney Poitier was the world's first black man.
I learned that William Shatners real name was bill shits 😂
You just wouldn't let it lie, would you!
I learnt that Jeremy Irons
I learnt that Lynn Faulds Wood.
@@jamescropley1607 I learnt that James may?
I loved Vic and Bob. They're just the best. Always had a crush on Bob too! I recommend their series Catterick. It's hilarious.
Jim and Bob, thank you for all the belly laughs. Shooting Stars was comedy gold.
Saw them in Manchester when I was a student, many many moons ago.
You can absolutely see how this show inspired many comedy panel shows of the modern era, especially cats does countdown
they stole from them the comedy panel show idea and the layout.
It was an inspiration for Would I Lie To You
The 'Club Singer' was a highlight every week.
Thank you, Baked Potato - for everything
Bob, a man that does his own dentistry
The smell of Reeves and Mortimer was brilliant.
Randall and Hopkirk was superb, always wondered why it was cancelled after 2 series :(
Jim's\Vic's last words at the end there were quite sweet. :)
Bob is the best just looking at his little face cracks me up. Jst read his autobiography it's brill
Some people are just funny..and don't need anything else.
Amazing especially for comedy duos they live next door to each other real friends
I loved Vic's jet black night club singer hair and retro clothes, pure class 😬
The bit where the camera zoomed in on Michael Winners ice-cream hair made me double over and laugh so hard it was silent laughing with tears.
It’s always important to remember the stott brothers interviewing sting 😂
absolute classic comedy 🤣🤣🤣
Michael Winner..can you leave your fingerprints on a parsnip?
Thank you for all the laughs, Vic & Bob ......The best duo !
im 32 but bob is a hero of mine.. what a progamme shooting stars was
Shooting Stars was brilliant.
My favourite comedy show of all time. No show has made me laugh so hard in my life
'Big Night Out' was just something else. Nothing like it before, others have tried a similar format since but can't.
Take A Moment
Genius
Thx for posting my friend

Stay Free ❤😂🎉
you either love or hate them i watched their very first Vic Reeves bg night out on channel 4 and loved them immediately
'Friends' 😆 I know which I was watching on Friday nights and it wasn't a US sitcom
I bought dizzy when I was a wee boy.always loved those guys. ❤️
Loved it, love them.
shooting stars was brilliant.
...."PEANUTS"..... laughed all the way down to my core....
I still have no idea why that was so fucking funny, but it makes me laugh every time. I find myself randomly shouting it around the house sometimes.
Thanks mate! Some other prick only uploaded 3 out of 4 parts of this! You’re a legend, thanks
hahah. yep. I also came via that momentarily furious route. Thank you Ben Jones. Happy new year.
These guys formed my sense of humour along with many other great comedians.
"Written on the flange of the dove"
Thanks for uploading this been hoping it would pop back up for years!
Best ever bring it back
Catterick is amazing
I will never understand why Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) failed.
Great upload fella...Pub singer was MY fave!
Loved it. Comedy geniuses.
Thanks for uploading!
Brilliant!cheers n 🍺 🍻
I remember watchin this with my dad as a child 🤣🤣 classic
I watched it about 15 and just rewatched it. So much went over my head then. Rewatch it!
This was fascinating thank you
The best!
Big Night Out blew my teenage mind, 10 o'clock on a Friday night on channel 4 if memory serves.
lol I recon it was 9, I was also a teen and that would have been too late for me. Actually it could have been cause Eurotrash was on after 😆
I worked at the Albany Empire at the time thay did their Big Night out there.
So many good ones

That's very true. I found him okay on the radio, on his own. Very weak on here
He has his own niche. His Talk Radio stuff with Danny Kelly circa 1997-2000 is some of the best radio ever done imo.

Sadly Mark Lamarr is conspicuous by his absence here. A funny fella.
he's employed by the British Museum to represent *the 50s* - doubt he'll have time to be interviewed.
