Exodus: Mass Effect's True Successor Made By Bioware's Old Guard

- It was only recently that I realised that a game shown to us some two months ago at the Game Awards could in fact be the next big RPG of our generation and more importantly, the next big science fiction RPG of our generation. Exodus is being made by Archetype Entertainment, a studio composed of industry veterans, with key people such as Jame Ohlen, Chad Robertson and Drew Karpyshyn, leading the project, all of whom hail from Bioware's Golden Age, with such storied titles as the original Baldur’s Gate games, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars, Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect and Jade Empire, among others under their belts and what's more, they have been given complete freedom to make the game exactly the way they want to with no corporate interference. I think this is going to be better than Mass Effect. Sounds too good to be true? Check out the video as I offer proof that this is going to be really, really big.

I will believe it when the game comes out, so many games have used the "veterens" approach that it no longer holds meaning to me. The game will reveal itself when the time comes.
I remember getting excited for former Looking Glass studios upcoming game. Lol.
Remember when I was hyped for Nightingale... not anymore.
And it being financed by WotC makes me even less optimistic.
Yeah, this is giving Star Citizen levels of hype-vibe.
@@janosd4nuke The concept is really good but it needs a lot more time to cook and shouldn't have released in EA yet.
I think the corporate over Lords starting to realize that you can make more money with allowing devs to do wat they want.
You dont slaughter the cow that gives you. milk.
Some of them have realised this, yes.
If only ... it sure seems like the only way you do this is to avoid shareholders, and corporate overlords.
Or you can remove risk by not even selling milk, but get paid ESG money to peddle soy to the goy.
as long as blackrock and vanguard finance studios, they will not give a shit because with the financing theyre able to break even. turning a profit doesnt matter right now, all that matters is "the message"
the overlords are only making money off the writer drew. thats the only reason anybody plays those games.
the actual gameplay of bioware games are bad. people suffer through them for the story and characters.
WotC being completely 'hands off' isn't a statement that is based in reality. I just hope they keep their interference to a minimum.
Apparently the head of the dev team said he would only work for wotc if he had total and complete control over the games he makes. I think n7 Kate was the one who did the vid on that.
@@xyr3s Source? After the bullshit WOTC has pulled over the years, I want confirmation on this, because WOTC is a bunch of greedy assholes now.
Would be the smartest move they ever made if its true
@@xyr3s I literally stated it in the video.
@spellandshield yea I saw it after the comment lol.
EA can have the name Bioware, it never mattered anyway. Talking about the people who make the games takes power away from companies and gives it to the artists. I look forward to more art from people like Stephen Rooney, Neil Newbon and Drew Karpyshyn.
Its very strange that we focus a lot on the companies that we devalue the actual people that make said games. The moment the talents are replaced by amateurs or different talents with different video game philosophy you can easily tell something doesn't seems right.
@@Deliveredmean42 Tell that to people who support football teams..... personally, I can't understand why people don't follow the players. Sort of the same with political parties too.
@@elmhurstenglish5938 Because the local team is part of the local culture. That should make sense.
@@user-pc5qj2ix2c No one I know supports their local team though... lol. Whereas, supporting players from your town would make sense to me. *shrugs* different way of thinking, I guess
@@user-pc5qj2ix2ca “team” is also a dynamic _and_ enduring entity. There are so many moving pieces in a team, so many different _kinds_ of things to think about, to be interested in, to invest in. A team’s story is very big.
Mass Effect is my favorite game, so if this studio is able to pull it off, I'll be overjoyed. We don't get story driven RPGS anymore like Mass Effect.
Baldur's Gate 3 is the first game since Mass Effect 2 that has really felt like old-school BioWare. In some ways it's even better. Far more choices, and tons of things to discover.
@@jonathanhibberd9983 I have a dissenting view on choices and diverging paths, where I feel less choices, but more meaningful ones, are preferable to a ton of less impactful ones.
@@Rapunzel879 I don't think you have to sacrifice one for the other. You can have choices that don't impact anything except that moment. And you can have choices that drastically alter the entire arc of the story. My favorites are choices that you don't expect to go anywhere, that actually do come up later in the story. BG3 does all 3 well.
Guardians of the Galaxy game is the closest thing to a Mass Effect game since ME3 but unfortunately it didn't sell too well and it's not getting a sequel. Exodus is the only hope.
@@jonathanhibberd9983 to be honest the story in Baldur's gate felt weaker compared to mass effect, the banter is also better in mass effect 3. Felt somewhat more disconnected with your companions since you can't speak and the companions doesn't interact with one another making it unnatural. but other than that Baldur's gate is better in everything else. You can interact with companions for affections, and many different reactions for way more situations compared to mass effect. and yes, the freedom is what makes the game THE standard rpg. Though I wish the flow of conversations are as natural as Mass effect. Even in Baldur's gate no companion could make me think they're better than Garrus and Tali. I am just waiting for a game that has both of these aspect
It's ironic talking about the corporate overlords when the website prominently features that Archetype is owned by Wizards of the Coast, who are owned by Hasbro, some of the vilest corporate venture bros around. I sincerely hope the studio can work without interference, but with Hasbro's track record of sabotaging anything good, as it did to Wizards of the Coast who own its two profit-making IPs DND and Magic. I hope things are different this time...
There is another small studio, Rebel Wolves, created by former veterans from CD Project RED - mainly a game dorector of Witcher 2 and Witcher 3, main design director and many others people who created ones of the best RPGs to date. There is no trailer yet, but they working on the Witcher 3 style dark fantasy game with their own IP. They plan to do very intriticate quest decision system, non linear open world etc. The idea is to make a game not for 100h gameplay but for solid 30-40h. In some polish interviews CEO said that the game is in advanced stage.
Sounds great, though I still wish they would be working on the next Witcher at CDPR. I fear quality will suffer without them.
Not piggy-backing off of someone's work is what I like to hear and CDPR needed to do, but will not subvert. I hope it turns out good.
@@derelyeSan CDPR sold they integrity for money. Expect they new games to "check all boxes" as shareholders demands. They main asset till CP2077 was they reputation. Sadly they don't have it anymore.
I'm fine with a new IP that isn't Plagiarised Polish Elric.
It's a shame they are limiting the hours of the game
People crying 'stoppppp why you giving us so much value for our moneyyyy'
Wanting to be done in 10 hours then next fix..
If the content is good the more hours the better.. that's just common sense .. just because you can play 100+ hours doesn't mean you get less value per hour
That being said will check those Devs out , if they keep to a good story rather than turning political it could be good
A new Sci-fi Novel written by Peter F. Hamilton will be available later this year that takes place in this game's universe. He's a really great author, in my opinion, and so I'm really looking forward to both the game and the book.
Really? Thanks for the info!
WotC/Hasbro signing the cheques made me worry, but Hamilton's involvement is worrying me more. He's taken the ticket.
I liked the ME books, much joy between the different game episodes.
Wow! Now that is some news. His chapter in pandoras star about the aliens was one of the greatest bits of sci fi imagination I have ever had the privilege of reading.
@@1_2_die2 Me too. Glad to hear Drew is involved at this studio. I'll be watching this game.
Dead Space had a successor too and we seen how that turned out.
Technically two successors. One for the callisto protocol and the other for the remake for the OG Dead Space. We know which did better of the two.
The simple fact is, making good games is hard. There are never any guarantees, but I certainly wish this team the best.
Callisto Protocol was directed by only the DS series creator, one man doesn't make a game. This has golden age bioware's senior creative director, technical director, and senior writer. Key positions for a game's outcome. If this fails, I'll probably lose faith that any semblance of what was can ever be again.
Ultimately, it is stupid to anticipate anything too much. When it comes out, it comes out. No point in hyping yourself up.
Dead Space was pleb-tier slop from the start. I'll never understand what people liked about the game with the most predictable jumpscares in horror game history.
Well, that's good to know. If enough of their developers really come from old Bioware and work under WotC, it also would be cool if they could at one point in the future make a Neverwinter Nights 3. There is still a community creating modules for NwN 1&2 and seeing a modern version of these games toolsets for creating custom content, would be fantastic.
At the moment they are fully focused on Exodus and Sci-Fi but it might be possible.
Usually it's I who will write this comment. Couldn't agree more. Have you tried TRON btw? Looks like the current server to be on
WotC's involvement makes me nervous, but if they're truly going to be hands off, that could be ok. Assuming they survive long enough to complete the game. Their recent issues over the last year put that in question.
@@jonathanhibberd9983 Which issues specifically?
@@spellandshield The OGL debacle, the Pinkertons scandal, firing over 1000 people right before Christmas, using AI art in MTG - last year was a bad year for WotC.
I have learned not to expect anyting from games anymore, so im gonna stay sceptic, but god i would love to get a good mass effect like game again.

Exactly this. Their studio apparently focuses on "safety" and "empowerment" (as opposed to simply making games), so they seem to be walking the same path to doom as so many today. Especially with Hasbro and WTC being their owners.
Personally I couldn't care less when a new studio begins by listing all the has-beens on its roster, if anything it raises suspicion. They can promise all they want in their vacuous mission statements and hype videos. The question these days will always be who is behind them, who is footing the bill and what's their track record.
Yah, that's a RED FLAG!
And you think they should care about your dumb opinion because?
Thanks for pointing the game/devs out and I hope the studio can deliver on the impressions here. Personally I was more of a Dragons Age Origin person than ME, but I'll stay tuned.
Anyway, let's see it fail miserably.
I would say, everyone forgets the series of books that had the same plot. The books written in 1970s by Frederik Pol 'Heechee'. When I was reading them, I had that feeling of too much familiarity. It was exactly 'Mass Effect', even considering tech found in our Solar system and so on, without spoilers.
Revelation Space also inspired a lot of Mass Effect story down to even the Reapers themselves, hell even the supposed dark energy ending that got scrapped was a Revelation Space rip off.
And Iain M. Banks's culture books were a big influence. The TV shows Babylon 5 and Farscape. The whole Asari race is ripped off of a character in Farscape. Lead character of Stargate:Atlantis was named John Sheppard. Doesn't bother me at all. ME was never pretending to be original, its eclectic, like a Tarantino film. I haven't read Heechee, but I might, because all ME influences were all very enjoyable, but the others I knew before ME existed.
Sovereign is space Cthulhu
Frederik Pol ist a great Autor i remember an old Textbased Game called Frederik Pol's Gateway and IT Had an awesome Story
@@vandalfinnicus1507 Mass Effect’s protagonist is known as being inspired and named after Alan Shepard, the first American in space, and who commanded Apollo 14. He was not named for Stargate Atlantis lol but I do agree that the many inspirations don’t detract from the series, for me.
Thank you, i dismissed this the moment Matthew came on stage, just tuned out.
Massive sci-fi fan and a fan of narrative driven games like mass effect and the halo series.
The cup of trippe A crap has created an apposing force of devs that are now front and centre promoting good game design and a pro player business model.
I hope this keeps up
Don't hold your breath. Heard this same bullshit with Callisto Protocol 2 years ago with an "industry veteran" at the helm.
to be fair its difficult to make a horror game and i suspect others told this devs to give it a little action which ruined it
Ill believe it when i see it. The devs behind Dead Space made The Callisto Protocol and that dodnt exactly go well so while im certainly interested I will hold my powder until its done.
Oh, Wizards of the Coast.... Welp, we can all safely move on.
All those games that he was made are the main reason why are we in gaming 1998. Baldur's Gate and Tales from the Sword Coast expansion. Interplay and BioWare were the Kings of western RPG. Thank you there is a hope, our time on Earth isn't so long, EA took beautiful 10 years from us, never first person, never multiplayer where our precious time depends on others patience knowledge and their free time. We are living for good RPGs with realistic next gen visuals cinematic cutscenes and straight romances
You're not wrong. This did fly under my radar. Interested to see what happens with both this studio and their game.
Same here. I do like Matthew McConaughey but I would notice the game better if they invested into setting up a Steam page (instead). Oh well, I hope I won't forget about the game before they get to it.
Damn, how did I miss this?! I have been waiting for something like this since Mass Effect. Here's hoping they deliver!
I swore to myself never to buy into FOMO, never to pre-order, never to buy games with microtransactions. I made an exception with Starfield and and was played the fool. I won't get excited until it's released and I see the reviews. Same as Squadron 42... show me the money.
u need to teach your brain to recognize patterns and single out the bad games
if the developers start trashing huwhite people and call men sexist for wanting beautiful women in games that is a BIG pattern to avoid, i mean why would you want to buy a game from a bunch of r..cist and sexist people because that is what they are, as a woman myself i never asked to be turned into ugly in games to be protected ffs
Man, that's a radio voice right there. Great video
I want to work for them. I'm personally going through software engineering in college to get a foot into the tech field and when I heard about Archtype and that they were mostly former old guard S tier Bioware employees making a new game. I pegged them among the first options for employers to work with right out of college. I grew up on Mass effect 1-3, Kotor, DAO, DA2 and DAI. When I heard Archtype was going to be made up of devs who were involved with these games. I was hooked from that moment. Even if it was a basic level software dev. I would love to be apart of this legendary group of game devs.
If Drew Karypshin is in, then I am all in, take my money. It is because of him, that Mass effect is one of the best works of fiction ever written in any medium, be it books, movies, games. I still long for stories in the Universe of Mass effect, the races were so well thought, the scariest villain ever conceived, humans' place in the order of things with respect to the galaxy. It was just perfect.
I fell in love with Mass Effect. Not only because it had interesting story, the world(universe), characters... What I loved the most, EVERYTHING that player wanted to know was explained. The races and what made them unique, also their history and how they all interacted with each other. How the weapons work, spaceships, how and why did humans discover spacejumping and what happened after that... Because everything was explained, it was really easy to emerge to the world and be part of it. High hopes for Exodus. Meanwhile, I have a feeling I have to replay the whole ME-trilogy again.
The trailer did catch my eye, but I'm always interested in learning more about any sci-fi games. We don't see enough of them as far as I'm concerned. So, I hope you're right! I've heard some things over the years, but I still wonder form time to time what ME3 would have been like had we gotten the version of the story Drew Karpyshyn had intended to end the trilogy with.
Judging by the trailers, WotC is clearly very much hands on.
I feel like I need to remind people that the same mindset was present when Obsidian released a trailer for The Outer Worlds. Them being the devs for Fallout: New Vegas, expectations were very high.
Those expectations fell short when the game released. It was by no means a bad game, it was average. Unfortunately, an average game means that its the likeliest to be forgotten by the gaming community. All I'm saying is, temper those expectations cause OG devs doesn't guarantee another great game.
Indeed. Even talented veterans can make mistakes and blunders. Ken Levine was part of classics like VtMB and the original Bioshock. He still let the praise cloud his mind and made Bioshock Infinite which was at best an okay game.
Exactly. Outer Worlds was garbage
There's also another Mass Effect spiritual sequel being developed by the studio Humanoid Origin, which was founded by Casey Hudson and also includers many industry veterans who used to work for companies such as BioWare. It really says a lot about BioWare under EA that it spawned _several_ independent studios founded by people who were so disgruntled by their experience that their"mission statements" read like a list of complaints about what working under EA was like.
We'll see. Will probably end up being Woxodus...
Or full of malware(denuvo), and don't forget the spyware(kernel level anticheats in your singleplayer game). Then there's the obligatory Epic Exclusive for the first year, maybe throw in console exclusivity for good measure.
Oh, and the microtransactions. Can't forget those.
Edit: supposedly it's SBI connected, soooooo.... yeah
It's already doomed.
Never forget, studios do not make games, people do. You can see this in Blizzard. All the people who made those game we love, they're long gone from that company.
I was weary the moment you said WotC approached him. WotC is also a terrible company, but then you mentioned that they'll be hands off. I will reserve judgement but I look forward to what they can do.
Can you imagine, Bungie gameplay and Mass Effect storytelling and companions? Sounds like a winning recipe to me.
I don't know. Wizards of the Coast is very Progressive and pro spreading that message in whatever is connected to them. I can't see them letting him make whatever he wants unless it wasn't necessary and didn't conflict in that area. I'll have to wait and see more for this as it's nice to hear a veteran is coming back, but it's happened before and people change or we don't hear the whole story of how things came together. I'll hope for the best, but with cautious optimism.
I hope they do a fantasy game like Dragon Age Origins cause that’s one of the best storylines I’ve ever enjoyed
Gaider borrowed very liberally from Tolkein and George Martin to write that game, and he was very open about that at the time.
@@synapse913 And that's bad because?
@@AlexIncarnate911 I was just pointing out that DAO wasn't terribly original. And there have certainly been better written video game storylines.
@@synapse913 This modern obsession with originality rather than quality will be our downfall. Originality is not a virtue or a marker of quality. If artists imitate previous artists and do it well, they’re making good art. Shakespeare was literally recycling historical writings from antiquity turning them into plays and he’s considered (rightly so) a literary genius. While yes, the storyline of Dragon Age origins is nothing exceptional, the world building is remarkable and stands out as one of the most well constructed universes in a video game.
@@AlexIncarnate911 Lack of originality *and* quality these days is specifically why AAA gaming studios(and Hollywood) are in the crapper. They're creatively bankrupt and are reliant on memberberries to carry them.
If DAO had been released after the GOT HBO show had hit it big, I don't think it would be nearly as fondly remembered. Only a handful of us even knew what ASOIAF was back in 2009.
Not feeling the weird semi-cartoony artstyle used for the faces here, but I am curious to see where this game's development goes, especially if Drew is involved. I wasn't a fan of the way SWTOR and Drew treated Revan in the Revan novel, but he did write KOTOR 1, Mass Effect 1, and some of Mass Effect 2, so that's a big plus.
It’s definitely a little interesting, and this is definitely on the more “real” side I’ve seen this type of animation used. From what I understand it’s to put focus on buttery smooth gameplay. There’s definitely a fine line, and personally it doesn’t bother me too much here, I think only when they are in the helmets it looks a bit odd.

Thank you so much for this! I NEEDED this info. I saw the trailer at the Game Awards, and remembered hearing the old Mass Effect crew was working on it. But then, nothing. Wasn't seeing information about it anywhere. This is the studio I'm most excited about besides Larian. I'd go as far as to say Mass Effect helped shape who I am. There's been nothing like it since, until, maybe, now? Any idea what time frame they're shooting for?
I feel the same way about Mass Effect. There is no real time frame yet as they are still building the studio but if I had to guess it would be something like 2026? I posted all the links and I will be covering it more extensively. Go check it out as I think there is not much hope left for Mass Effect.
@@spellandshield I still remember vividly the extreme letdown I felt at both Andromeda and even DA2 and 3. I didn't even buy their live service game, so yeah, Bioware is just an empty shell of disappointment. I would never trust Wizards of the Coast with any kind of agreement like that, even if it was in the contract. They'll let him do whatever he wants only as long as he's doing exactly what they want him to do.
This looks like it could be the game I've been waiting for. However, WotC being involved worries me. Despite the assurance that they'll stay hands-off. I can easily believe they would agree to that up front, but I can't imagine them honoring it after all is said and done. We shall see, and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

The individual talent is definitely a necessity, but company culture is also a huge part of it. Larian has no notable names besides Swen, the CEO. But he has talked numerous times about the importance in maintaining senior staff who create a good culture underneath them, and have the continuity and experience of their previous titles. Low turnover used to be the sign of a great company. We don't look at this metric nearly as often as we used to.
An excellent point Lord Diamond!
I'm hyped about this game for a while now. I'm so glad to see it getting more traction. I also hope its success will empower Archetype Ent. to keep going.

Any developer who is associated with Sweet Baby inc. Is blacklisted as a default. This is only reinforced by the games mc being female, there should be a choice just as there was in ME. Currently this game is firmly on track to fail and fail hard!
I agree that we, as gamers, should give this studio a chance, but it is too soon to praise them! I want to see the game first, or at least a chunk of gameplay, to make a fair judgment.
Thank you for this video. I had not heard of this game. I love what Larian has done with continuing Baldur's Gate. After watching this video, I now have hope for a space saga like Mass Effect.
Random thought on a recentish spiritual successor done right. Mutant Football League, the spiritual successor and not to be confused with the old 16 bit era Mutant League Football.
It was made by a bunch of the people who worked on the old Genesis game and plays like my memory wants me to believe that the old game actually was. It is a textbook example of doing a spiritual successor right, using the hands of many of those who worked on the old stuff. Damn fun game even if you don't like football, perhaps especially if you don't like football. You get to do things like bribe the ref, strap dynamite to the ball and intentionally throw an interception, kill a bribed ref and it is a solid, if tongue in cheek, football game. So much fun.
addendum: Seriously, if you liked Mutant League Football back in the day, you will love this.

First I would like to know how much DEI they've inserted into the game and also if Sweet Baby Inc. or any other companies of the like are involved in the game's development. Just because it's BioWare's "old guard" that doesn't guarantee that the game will in fact be any good. Hopefully it's being done in Unreal 5 so we can maybe expect that it's technically polished, but given the amount of times I've seen a game being hyped up only to crash down like a meteor? Yeah... I am very cautious with things like this, but...
The fact that Karpyshyn is speaking positively of it gives me a good amount of hope. The man has a documented history of pulling the ripcord and bailing out of projects he feels won't deliver to his standards.
I don't particularly like WotC. I don’t particularly like some of Archetype's partners, but the fact that Karpyshyn is not only sticking around, but is openly speaking positively of their work... that has my attention.
I hope they can deliver. I'll be first in line if they do.

wow they really live rent free in your mind don't they.
wizards of the coast is just as bad its already dead.
@@Henrik_Holst No they earned their rent by ruining so many good games.
@@asandax6 they haven't ruined any game, you clearly don't even know what they do, they are simply hired by the game devs to get their feedback on the dialog, they have zero power or say over the final product. GG2.0 is even dumber than GG1.0 and that is saying a lot.
Love your optimism, but that trailer has DEI written all over it. I do love me some old Bioware--and Mass Effect 1 and KotOR 1 are still my favorite games--so I'll remain cautiously optimistic. However, we've all heard that "we're making the game we wanna make" spiel from so many developers that I've lost count, and that trailer isn't helping. I still see Squadron 42 as the spiritual successor to Mass Effect, but we'll just have to wait and see.
If the likes of Sweet Baby Inc doesn't touch this title I'll remain quietly optimistic.
Agreed. This game will bend the knee to the cult. I’d rather play the original mass effect series all over again.
What makes you think it has "DEI written all over it"? Because the characters are kind of brownish and there is a woman in it? IIRC Mass Effect 1 had some lore that suggested that 200 years in the future people had blended enough to where most humans had a kind of greyish hue or whatever. In the actual game this wasn't obvious, and we had examples of NPCs with distinct asian/indian/african features and typical skin colors. I think of the "people blend and we are all mostly the same grayish brown" in these types of stories not as an attempt to remove white people in a DEI way, but instead like an optimistic view of the future à la Star Trek. That's a very "color blind" classically liberal point of view where we have moved past conflicts about race/sex etc.
If a game takes place in a contemporary setting, having women be action heroes on a similar level to men (on a large scale) is rather unrealistic and I might think the game has a political agenda it's trying to force on me. But if the game takes place 200 years in the future, or even in a fantasy world, I don't think it needs to be the same thing. In a fantasy setting the sexes might have developed/evolved differently resulting in more similar patterns of behaviour and utility between the sexes. In a sci fi world humanity might be doing genetic modification or medical treatments to smooth over inequities of traits between people. Women as 50% of the combatants on the front lines of a war at that point could be a reality. I think that's a very different thing from black females with prosthetics on the front lines of ww2.
@@Imjustaguy123 Just shut up
The only developer that is actually missing for the golden age is Casey Hudson
While I never buy any games now without 6 months to a year to allow for the bugs to be worked out thanks for putting this on my radar.
Holy Moly...this sounds incredible!
I am an old bioware player, KotOR, Jade Empire, Neverwinter Nights, etc. Mass Effect and Dragon Age weren't really my jam, but this game looks pretty neat.
You know what I‘m more interested in? Wizards of the Coast.
I might see what they‘re doing there. One studio bringing out exceptional games every few years.. not much profit.
Bring up several studios which then put out several exceptional games spread across years….. you get the point?
They could “many” handedly bring down EA, Ubi & Co.
"This game could even exceed Mass Effects' quality"...That's a very TALL order to fill and I'm not holding my breath, but I would truly love to see that...even with some of the great games we've had since, there has never been another game on the same level as Mass Effect and that is a void that severely needs to be filled...
How can you not see the DEI signiture in this game is amazing to me. DEI manage to ruin a lot of bigger games already so I am not sure where you are getting that confidence from.
Anything touched by sweet baby is poisoned fruit.
Where is the evidence this has been touched by Sweet Baby? I have tried to find it but failed.
@@spellandshield They claim to work with Wizard's of the Coast on their website. I don't know if that's a "connection", I just don't expect any new games to be good in general.
Alan Wake 2 seems to be doing well
@@Gamez4eveR You mean Alan Woke 2? If sweet baby touches this game, it's DOA. Just like any other game.
Alan Wake 2 literally blackwashed a preexisting European woman from the first game and made her the protagonist of the second, replacing the eponymous Alan Wake for the majority of the game. White man incompetent, saved by strong Black woman. Same tired tropes. The sales numbers are shit, despite reviewer shills pump up the numbers to fan the woke message.
Thanks. I will keep an eye out for this.
I was just watching this coz it was dinner time, but now i'm at the end, and the idea of "the old guard" of gaming coming back with complete freedom, dam dude, NGL, thats got my gamer juices a bit oozy, i am hopeful.
Unfortunately, this studio is a partner of Sweet Baby Inc. Archetype is owned by Wizards of the Coast, so I have no faith in the story or it's DEI requirements. Another one bites the dust. Too bad, this game looks cool.

Idc if it has dei or not, i just want a great game.
@Dinkdoo96 Simple, if it has Dei then it won't be. Unless you thought Forspoken had amazing writing, then you do you.
Yip dead on arrival thanks to sweet baby inc
Sweet Baby Inc is partnered with WoTC so I am not optimistic that this game will arrive unspoiled.
I'm quite excited to see another space opera from the OG Bioware vets, but at the same time I'm a little apprehensive over Hasbro/WOTC being their backer.
Thanks for making the video, I hadn't heard of this, and I'm a huge fan of old Bioware games!
Lol, why creating such hype for something that we still didn't even see. Come on bro. Give it a break.
Got paid by Bioware 😂
Sweet baby inc detected. The most default generic diverse characters.
But game itself looks promising. Hope they write their story well at least.
Holy shit.. for real!! I didn’t paid attention to it!! Thank you bro.. you got a sub
well all i can say that Mass effect series (first 3 original) was the first rpg game that captured mi mind and emotions. from the story to the art and dialog etc.. i even had tears, goosebumps.
i dont even doubt that THIS gem (game) exodus will be diferent.
as one in a comment sayed that time will tell, i can tell that i cant wait to emerse myself to another fantastic journey trough space, love and emotions.
thak you for this insight. ❤️
Interesting, but will they avoid the fallacy of targeting the 'modern audience'? The trailer with the poc girl boss doing girl power things is not helping.
The girl who dies in the cinematic because days for him is decades for her?
@@xyr3s Yeah, I bet she'll be back by some deus-ex-machina storytelling.
@@Kaesemesser0815Until now i've noticed a lots of current year design choices. Not even close to feeling any type of hype nor expectations.
Especially after seeing the latest squad mate designs.
"Diverse" casting says you're wrong, it will be just as bad as every other new media.
The only sci-fi games that hit me like ME were Disco Elysium and Prey, 2 other SF games that had me hooked and intrigued till I unraveled their mysteries and years later
I just hope all the narrative choices don't boil down to red, blue, or green.
I'm also looking forward to Exodus, it shows promise for sure.
Bioware has been dead for a while, that's for sure.
I have not been this excited for a game in over a decade. Not even BG3 comes close.
@@spellandshield It will still be very difficult for anything to beat Baldurs Gate 3 with quality. I only hope for games to be comparable.
@@Bryce433 I think the writing and story will be much better. BG3 is a great game but it is a jack of all trades, master of none. It does many things very well but it excels at no one thing. I think Exodus will frankly deliver a much better and gripping story, which what I have missed for a long time.
@@spellandshield I hope your right, that would be incredible, and I'll certainly support the game if it delivers like that. The character writing in BG3 imo as well as the ability to be creative within the confines of the rules of the game were both done excellently, but no doubt a better story could be told in the forgotten realms. Love the content from both channels keep it up :)
Bioware used to be the one dev I'd buy anything from.
I hate to be that guy, but there seems to be a lot of diversity here... Usually when a sci-fi or fantasy game looks like california in space/medieval europe/alien planet or whatever, it's usually not a sign of quality writing or lore.
Honestly with all the other games that have come out recently that claim to be made by old developers of said games I find it hard to believe that this could turn out good.
Wonder how much DEI and sensitivity reading it will have baked in
