Seeing people saying they love Korea just for kpop is sad and unfair in my point of view. I love korea not for kpop or kdrama, but for its culture in general and its history. Korea has the saddest history I've ever heard. It is a country that has known war and oppression and was one of the poorest countries on the planet until the 1960s. Despite this, today South Korea has become one of the 10 richest economies in the world, has an advanced democracy and is one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world. I work in biotechnology in Belgium and Korea is a very important hub in this sector. Many life-saving technologies and clinical innovations in minimally invasive surgery come from South Korea
I mean that’s like 90% of westerners liking japan because of anime, it’s the same thing.

there are so many japanese girls who visit korea to meet guys. I personally know a few who end up staying so just because they initially started liking korea through kpop, they end up learning a lot more. its fine imo

How is the news like in Japan? Everytime I see a Japanese person answer something along the line of "America" I feel like they've only seen movies about it.
I am using google translator. The reason Japanese people like Americans is that despite the victory of the war against Japan, the United States governed Japan very leniently (in Soviet-dominated areas, mass rape and massacres by occupation forces were very widespread, and in fact, The Japanese suffered tremendously from the Soviet Army). A world without hegemony would be a battlefield without order.

It is such a refreshing trend to see the number of 日本人 CZcamsrs growing rapidly, which in turn will lead to a growing presence of 日本人 in international communications and the arts on a worldwide scale.
