  • It's been a year since I moved to Switzerland, it's crazy how time flies!
Sometimes people ask me about it, so I figured I would create a 1-year update video. Maybe if you are moving somewhere soon, you can get a feeling of how it can be to move to a new country (though this is just my personal experience).
00:00 - Do I plan to stay in Switzerland? What do I like the most vs. my life in Germany?
02:09 - How my mindset and attitude changed
03:21 - What about the money? Are there any free things?
04:00 - Is it a polyglot paradise? And how is it going with Swiss German?
    05:30 - Some things I personally like
06:24 - What I struggled the most with
07:26 - The paperwork and small things that are different

Moving to a new country is always a challenge! I’m definitely applying some of you advice in a couple months when I move to Lithuania. I've struggled in the past with meeting new people too after I move to another country.

Until I saw the intro I realized the name of your channel is couch and not coach 🤦🏻‍♀️. But if you think about it both fit your content lol.

That balance between nature and social opportunities is so important for me too.
I like that you mentioned the flight connections, that's one thing I'm lacking at my current location. It's not ideal to have to take multiple flights to visit my family. From Zürich it would be direct.

Yeah, there are many things that influence how we feel about a certain place, and it is different for each and every one of us. Flight connection might not be important to some people, but it is to me :)

Thanks a lot, glad you like it. I invested in new equipment last year:
      - Sony Alpha ZV-E10
      - Sigma 16mm F/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Sony E
      - Rode microphone wireless go
I still have the lights I bought around 3-4 years ago and now I finally film on my couch, which was my original idea when naming the channel "Couch Polyglot" (though it does have other meanings too)

Glad you are enjoying Switzerland Laura I also thought about going to Switzerland🙏 Don't know if you know there will be a population limit for migration in Switzerland, so you are lucky to be there😎I've decided to make food at home instead😂🍔😊

@@CouchPolyglot 🙄🙏😅 sure they wont - maybe it would be a good thing to ask immigration what would happen if the limit is reached before acquiring citizenship... and maybe ask if it could be possible for them to make an exception for you if you declare your intent to become a citizen now already ...no need to worry about it too much I think ... doubt the limit will be reached any time soon 🙏👍

Hallo Laura.
