  • Polo Green | Springtime Fragrance | Modern Formulation 2019 and newer is like Vintage!
    Fragrance Mentioned
Polo (green) by Ralph Lauren is a Woody Chypre fragrance for men. Polo was launched in 1978. The nose behind this fragrance is Carlos Benaim.
Top notes are Juniper Berries, Basil, Artemisia, Caraway, Coriander and Bergamot; middle notes are Pine Tree Needles, Leather, Chamomile, Pepper, Carnation, Geranium, Jasmine and Rose; base notes are Tobacco, Oakmoss, Patchouli, Cedar, Vetiver, Musk and Amber
Pinned comment regarding versions of this fragrance:
When they first reformulated Polo, at first it s**ck*d, but then, because of comments they reformulated it back to smelling like the original. That’s why you need to either get a Warner or Cosmere version or a version 2019 or newer.

My favorite! I picked up a new bottle in 2023. Seems better now than a few years ago.

I wore Polo Green in the 1980's and 1990's when it was simply called "Polo" and always felt it was best in summer. I associate it with walking in the countryside on a humid day when all the flowers and gardens are in full bloom or riding a subway train into the city on a hot day. Maybe it's because those are the days I remember when applying it. It wasn't nearly my favorite back then. I was more of a Chanel Pour Monsieur, Lagerfeld Photo, Calvin Klein's Obsession, Paul Sebastian, Pierre Cardin Musk, Halston Catalyst or even Giorgio for Men by Giorgio of Beverly Hills guy.
Your bottle has a December, 2020 batch date. The last time I smelled it was before the start of Covid so it was in 2019 or earlier, and the reformulation was putrid. I think I even told the Macy's sales assistant that it was terrible. The pine was overwhelming at the top. Are you sure it's been changed again since then for the better? Polo was always very oakmoss heavy, and with the severe limitations on oakmoss due to IFRA guidelines, along with the very expensive cost of it, tree moss has replaced it.

2019 and up or maybe 2020 and up smells more like the original. Meaning if you have a 2018 in my opinion it sucks. They somewhat redeemed themselves in later 2019 -2020. I know this by my own nose. I tried a 2017 sample and it smelled nothing like original Polo. But when I got my 2020 bottle I was shocked to see it smelled way closer to a 80s bottle. Then as I did research I heard a few other mention that the 2020 bottles smell more like the og. Kelen from scents of South Jersey also mentioned this. As well as another channel that I can't remember the name of. So I knew I wasn't just imagining things. So either get a very old bottle or 2020 and up. The intermediate bottles smell like cheap Xmas tree air freshener, without the strong sour masculine pine. I smelled my 2020 side by side with a 2017 ...massive difference. So she's right

It's definitely a 2018 or so that smelled like crappy fake pine. Grab a 2020. Thank got they redeemed themselves

@@JustinHight-py2sw If you have the boxes for those 2017 and 2020 bottles, check the ingredients and especially the FORMULA code on the last line of the ingredients to see if the code has changed. All L’Oreal produced fragrance brands have a formula code on the boxes. Sometimes you can find them in old unboxing videos, but most CZcams reviewers are unaware of them.

@@shave-a-thon3415 I still have my box someplace but I can tell right away from smelling there is a massive difference between 17 and 20 . But it would still be cool to check the ingredients. But even the 2020 won't smell quite the same as the old warner or cosemere. But they are a massive improvement from the mid-range bottles. They of course won't have the oakmoss like the really old ones.i still plan on getting a vintage too. I have 6 bottles of Kouros. 5 vintage and 1 new. The new one is sadly ruined 😭

@@JustinHight-py2sw The FORMULA (not batch) code is even more important than the ingredients. All the additive compounds and colorings can remain the same, but the formula code will tell whether the “fragrance” ingredient has changed as that’s a mixture of oils and synthetics which is a state secret.
