  • A question we get asked a lot is 'how do I know when to go premium/custom packaging vs regular stock packaging? Clearly going with a regular corrugated box to display your products in will save money, but premium and high end packaging doesn't have to be expensive. You just have to know what to look for in your packaging manufacturing techniques to achieve the most efficient cost savings. If you are struggling whether to invest more money into your packaging or stick with a stock or low end box... the answer may lie somewhere in the middle.

    I've watched a couple of your vids and I love how succinct it is. A lot of information in a short video. Thanks!

    Love this video! My girlfriend and I are beginning to launch our fragrance/lifestyle brand and learning a ton about packaging. I've noticed in most (if not all) of your videos your talking about super high quantities for package production. Could you all do more content for the smaller, family run businesses where quantities could max out around 500 pieces? Thanks.

      @processagresources  Před 3 lety +13

      Congrats on getting your new fragrance/lifestyle brand going! Yes most of our stuff is about high end premium and with that it comes with higher minimums. I for sure need to do more content on this - BECAUSE IT'S TOTALLY POSSIBLE.

    Besides the monetary reasons I feel like people/companies are leaning towards being more green or less wasteful. That may have also played a role in the change of their packaging.

    • @processagresources
      @processagresources  Před 3 lety

      Yes that very well could be part of the case here. At times there are brands that genuinely are trying to be less wasteful, and some that are doing it purely because it's saving money. Rarely have I seen a brand go as far as they can with regards to sustainability if they truly do care about the environment. Check out this one, they go super far: czcams.com/video/TVhjzvVu4iw/video.html

    New sub. I'm a micro business, meaning I work a full-time job (unrelated) and have a "side hustle". I make all of my own products, additionally wearing all of the hats that business owners wear. How do you see sustainable yet upscale packaging for handcrafted products. I'm referring to products that might not have a standard size such as bar soap, bath bombs, solid bubble products and so forth. I'm trying to move from the craft show "look" to something more. Branding is everything but $$ decides how far one can go. Is there language for broke a$$ people, that are trying to create packaging at the top edge of their dollar?

      What’s difficult about using stock packaging when you are on a super tight budget is that it’s hard to really distinguish your brand amongst competitors. I’ve personally dealt with this issue as I had my own skin care company I ran for 10 years. My suggestion for you would be to EMBRACE your small size and make it your advantage. The fact that you are making by hand, small batch, made-to-order. Go all in on that. Hand sign every box or bag “hand crafted by_____”. Where some brands have to fake the “Apothecary No.14” and print that. Maybe print a “No.____” and then in a cool ink or pen write in the batch number. I also suggest you go to behance and TheDieline to search for inspiration as it will give you a lot of ideas. I would take your top 3 design ideas as far as graphics go and then search on upwork or behance to find a designer with a similar style as you would like. Hire them to create the graphics/fonts for your packaging. Instead of the packaging itself, if you spent a little bit on design and then added in the smallness with hand signatures, etc. That would be powerful packaging.

      Where do you get a supplier to make the box? Is it the same supplier that makes the product?

  • @MrSparkums

    Are these style of boxes typically manufactured overseas, or is something say, 25% as fancy available from a US supplier in a similar $ range? I am developing a brand product line and researching packaging for 1 particular product. Maybe I'll email when I am further along.. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks..

    Aera created, 2 packagings structures , 1 was for retail and the 2nd one for e-tail. The one for retails has nicer features because it will be competing in the shelf with other products, the packaging for the e- tail version doesn’t compete with other product the main purpose is complete the distribution. Other opportunity to reduce the cost of collaterals or user guides is to add a QR code that links the user to product website so they can see the product operation instructions or videos

    You might have mention this, but I suspect they changed to more environmentally friendly packaging to please their customers. Another assumption I would have is that a high percentage of people who use air diffusers also "care about the environment" and prefer easy to recycle packaging that didn't create a lot of waste in the production process.
