Contemporary Confusion - The best ZT-T is a Rover 75 - The car for the first time 75 / zt buyer
A spec born our of MG Rover badge engineering, is the Contemporary and Contemporary SE pointless or are they the ideal balance between a 75 and zt overall?

I’ve owned two tourers and absolutely agree with you Colin the rear opening window was a brilliant idea my dogs loved it in there in the summer.
I’m still driving a 2.5 Cowley built saloon but on the look out for yet another tourer !

Grab them while you can. Harder to find than a bmw with insurance in Liverpool

I must agree contemp spec are the best, would definitely say they are the best bang for buck car out there, maybe time for another.....

They are wonderful. Tbh I might sell mine come winter time as I've the auto freelander now and would like to sort the crashed 75 out also properly

Great review of the Contemporary. I have had my Contemporary SE for 4 years, diesel auto with a MarinaBrian remap. Its had every option ticked from new, genuinely top spec. I burst a front damper recently but miraculously managed to get a pair of used MGZT comfort spec springs and dampers. I'm getting more bodywork done on it next month to make it look more presentable, maybe take it to a show or two!

When I got my Contemporary SE it was the first thing I started looking at, getting the shocks and springs put back to the original ones as I knew they were different.
Made a few posts about it and a lot of input from some knowledgable members. Toyed with the idea of ZT kit but as you say it would be taking away from the cars original purpose.
Mines a 84,000 miles CDTi auto with the ‘160’ map apparently, and it’s a great combo. Premium bumper would really finish it off for me as a long term keeper as it’s also MBB.
But I would be paranoid about it getting damaged

Exactly it. I've sold countless premium bumpers over the years and I'd be terrified of owning a car with one unless it was a v8

I have owned a 2003 75 tourer connie SE diesel for around 6 years (currently on SORN) and a few years ago, I was given a facelift connie contemporary SE tourer that had been sat in a garden here in NE Scotland for 3 years. It was such a shame because the quality was obvious (better than my mk1) but the rain had gotten in, as had the mice and the interior was awful. I really wish that i had had a garage to store it in, then i could have put it back on the road over time but we had no space, so i stripped it and the rest went to scrappy.

I’ve got a contemporary SE with the premium grille but it has the sports suspension pack from the factory so it sits really low, looks awesome but I’m struggling to find the correct specific front spring code. it’s the Yellow rapid response one 😉

You mean my next one when you sell it to me! This must be 10 years of asking now 🤣

Give me a few months notice so I can do a few Jim McDonald style visits to the post office if you do.

    Good video!
Daft question, are the ZT-T springs/dampers all the same (excluding V8) - or is there a difference between diesel and petrol?

    • @RobsonRoverRepair
      @RobsonRoverRepair  Před měsícem

Oh god yes. There's about 8 different rear variations (not including self leveling) and about 20 for the front. It's pretty wild and usually when you see a nose heavy 65 it's got wrong stuff fitted.

@@RobsonRoverRepair That's interesting! My ZT-T has always looked a little bit back end heavy, compared to the front. Guess I'll have to do some research!

If you lift up the back seat you will have all your spring and shock codes under it. That should give you all the answers you need!
