Forgot to mention that you should know some of the Mistborn terminology to understand parts of this review, like Allowancey and Feruchemy etc. Also unfortunately this review was a bit more choppier then I would've liked but since I'm on vacation I had to edit it how it is. Let me know if you've read this book and/or series! Do you think it's a worthy spin-off series? Personally I enjoyed it a lot and can't wait to read the next two!
I had to take a break after reading the first 3 books in the Mistborn series, because while I liked it a lot, the imagery it evoked was very bleak, with all the ash and mist and lack of colour in this world :D But this video makes me want to continue!
The original 3 were definitely very bleak! I know at times it felt quite depressing. I'm glad I got you excited for the other Mistborn books though, as I find them to be much more light-hearted and fuelled with witty dialogue :D
So, after reading Sanderson's annotations of the original trilogy, I've learned that Vin's father is a former nobleman who gave up his house when he became an obligator. That house is Tekiel. Vin is a genetic member of house Tekiel. The plot of the villains here was to destroy Vin's family.
I'm currently reading the first book in the first mistborn trilogy and I am really enjoying it! This review gets me excited for the next step in this awesome world! Great video mate!
OriginalHuman That's awesome, hope you enjoy the series! ^_^ you're in for an epic adventure! When you're finished with the 1st trilogy I recommend reading "Mistborn: a Secret History" which is a short story in Arcanum Unbounded. It adds so much to the story :)
Have to agree, it's a fantastic name! :) Should have some Stormlight Archive reviews up soon, then once I catch up with finishing Oathbringer I'll start making Stormlight lore and theory videos!
@@moiissnoneofyourbusiness8957 I know it's been forever since I mentioned doing that, but this June I'll finally be making a whole bunch of Stormlight videos! ;) I'm currently editing a WoK in-depth summary
Orrin Scott-Stewart Im currently reading Warbreaker but I'll quick read Alloy of Law, then start Words of Radiance. I cannot wait to read Words of Radiance.
I suggest the audio book for this era! I'm almost done listening to Shadow of Self. The narrator does a great job with Wax & Wayne's banter. So funny! I can't wait to start Stormlight Archive. I am currently starting the Witcher series!
Vicky Avila Zuniga just listened to the audiobook demo and the voice is perfect for these books! Thanks for the recommendation, I think I'll have to pick up the audiobooks as well! Stormlight Archive is amazing, have fun reading it once you do! Ahh I need to read more of the Witcher, I read the 1st one a few months ago and loved it
Wax and Wayne have a cool bromance going. Gets better as it progresses. Steris and Marasi get nice big arcs from master Brandon. Book 1 was fun, book 2 and 3 escalate quickly. Jay, your channel is criminally underrated. Looking forward to your next video or worldhoppers episode sir. Hadrian and Royce from Riyria, great bromance. Jean and Locke Lamora from gentleman bastard sequence is a third. Recommend.
It works SO WELL! I'm going through my second time and it's SO GOOD. This series would make a perfect TV show I love that Miles is so much like kelsier. It's perfect because as Brandon has said "in another book, kelsier would be the bad guy."
(Spoiler for The Final Empire) Mistborn: Secret History a short story dealing with what happened to Kelsier after we all saw him die. (Hmmm what's death like on Scadrial?)
I'm not a big fan of prequels but it would be nice to know what the world was like before the Lord Ruler took over. We know that the technology was more advanced and it is hinted that firearms were a thing.
Yeah I think that would be very interesting! Prequels usually aren't my thing either, but if Sanderson ever wants to explore that, I'd definitely read it
I didn't really like Alloy of Law unfortunately, so much so that I'm probably not reading the rest of era 2 either. The gloomy, heavier atmosphere in era 1 was a huge part of what made it so great for me. I knew I should not expect era 2 to be the same and did not, but I was still missing that special little something that got me hooked to era 1. This whole western/detective story with lawmen and gangsters and shootouts are really not my thing either, the whole thing was just too action-packed for my taste. Characters were not all that interesting either. On the bright side though the new allomantic abilities and the twinborn combos are cool as hell. So yeah all of this is a matter of taste, if you happen to like these specific points that I disliked then era 2 might be your cup of tea, unfortunately it's not mine.
I have hope for character development. Way back in the Final Empire the crew members were basically just stereotypes, but we KNOW that they didn't stay that way.
Yes great point! In the 1st era the characters grew so much from what they were in the first book, so I'm sure the same thing will happen with the characters of the 2nd era:)
If you haven't read Warbreaker yet, I'd recommend reading it before finishing Words of Radiance!!! It's kinda important. If not, then for sure before oathbringer
Good to know, thanks!! I'm 400 pages into Words of Radiance, but just recently ordered Warbreaker so I might have to take a break and read that before finishing WoR
Captured in Words Yea, you only need to read Warbreaker before the very end of the book, so anytime before you finish WoR would be a good time to read Warbreaker.
Iron eyes is a nickname for Marsh, Kelsier's brother. In the The Final Empire the crew originally nicknamed him Iron Eyes because of his steely and un-nerving gaze, eventually he was made into an Inquisitor which ironically made the nickname even more suiting. And by Alloy of Law, mythology made ironeyes to be loosely synonymous with "Death".
Hello boy, greetings from Brazil. Your channel is just awesome, i want to know if you have read The Malazan Book of the Fallen, for me it's the best fantasy series we have now, even though i am a Wheel of Time and Mistborn fanboy. Also, Stormlight Archive still not get published in Brazil, so i dont know if it's better than MBotF.
Books Friends Just been busy, but I have a plan to start making videos full time soon :) so I'll get back to it soon don't worry, and I'll post more often then I ever had

None of your reviews are choppy. I've never seen such a soothing voice deliver such in-depth and organized reviews. Keep on doing what you're doing.
i realize I'm pretty randomly asking but do anyone know of a good place to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Kyson Pablo flixportal :D
@Miller Cory thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service =) I appreciate it!!
@Kyson Pablo no problem :)

the world was literally dying, of course it was bleak (:
Linda G. You must read Warbreaker or The Way of Kings. They are much brighter and much more colorful. Especially Warbreaker.

Captured in Words hell yea! Thanks for the recommendation!
Alloy of Law is the weakest of that series. It gets better with each book, and The Bands of Mourning is spectacular! Hope you enjoy them all!
Selene Gomez This makes me so excited to read the next two! :)
Waxillium is one of my favourite names of all time. Can't wait for the Stormlight vids!
Have to agree, it's a fantastic name! :) Should have some Stormlight Archive reviews up soon, then once I catch up with finishing Oathbringer I'll start making Stormlight lore and theory videos!
@@CapturedInWords YES JAY, you have to do that. I would watch them on repeat.

The end of "Words of Radiance" will blow your mind :P
So excited to read further then! :D

The graphic audiobooks are even better. Full cast, music, sound effects...
I couldn't stop laughing with the "High imperial"
As always, great vid
Bram Cnudde Thank you! :)
Captured in Words and loving the tie by the way!
That's funny, I read this book at the same time as Way of kings as well
Interesting reviews. Love all the series. Exciting, fun and entertaining. I collected all in hard copies and audible format.

In the UK we would say you look 'well pucker' or 'dapper'.

The Alloy of Law isn't part of the next trilogy. It's more like and intermission instead.

I just realized that "Alloy of Law" is a pun on L.A. Law
Aviv LOL I didn't realize this! That's awesome
Oh. Wax and Wane.
Right.
the scales? is that like a different way of saying the stakes"
Time frame books - enders game. Book of 4 I think
It feels weird seeing those covers because mine are different.
Yeah usually the ones here are different too, but I ordered these editions from the UK because I like em better :p
There is a plan to be a fourth book in this era at some point
SPOILER!!!
Who is iron eyes?

I love Sanderson, but he does take time to develop characters...I've just started this book after reading the hero, not sure yet...
Why you didn't upload videos recently. i wish you didn't let go your passion.
