Go into the union trades and have a life.
Lol you dont get to have a life in the trades either.
As you say that with a home you own. Most folks work two jobs and are never home and live paycheck to paycheck. Perspective is everything.
Easily can make that and more
Sell your house
You’re never gonna be home
An aircraft mechanic pulls down 100K easily no sweat involved
On a forty hour work week, plus vacation sick time and excellent benefits.
Rail riders live better behind bars
Gotta have a home to sell. Most folks work two jobs at minimum wage or a decent wage but have to work overtime as well, so they ain't never home either.
New conductor here. I know, fuck me. If you work 12s and answer the phone 100k is not unheard of.
now you can. When this video was made it was a lot harder as a new hire to make that money. That contract everyone was bitching about sure did increase that pay quite a bit
😂😂😂❤🎉
I suck at math i can handle physical outdoor work shit will i survive
Not true. We have brand new conductors that make over 100 K a year.
Look when that video was posted bud. T was before the contract
Coming out of conductor school, you'll make about 28,000 to start out.
Depends who you work for. My first year I broke 70
@RailsTailsandTrails I can't remember what my dad or uncle made when they started out with Penn Central in 1975, just before the merger with Conrail, both retired from NS my dad in 2007 and my uncle in 2009. I know my dad had a good pension. Now I wished I asked him how much he made starting out. Too late on that one, he passed 2 years ago at 75.
@@kaykayschuckers sorry to hear that. Glad he got to have some years after retirement
@RailsTailsandTrails thank you. I live through him trains have been a huge part of my life, and now I do a lot of photography, especially around the Horseshoe Curve and up here in Emporium where the WNY&P run.
Just got offer letter lasr week with 71k guarantee... don't know where you got this 28k number
How Old Should I Be To Be A Engineer (Who Honks The Horn) Please Tell Me I Don't Have Bank And Work 😅
I know a lot of young engineers. The main thing I would say is having a few good years being marked up as a conductor first will go a long ways for you being an engineer
@@RailsTailsandTrails Thanks Brotha
I'm an engineer who don't like honking the horn but is required to 😢 im still trying to locate the steering wheel 😮
Is 21 year old too young? I applied online and find this perfect to bust my ass for a while and give it my all. I find it’s all older men but will I be taken seriously should I even have hope of getting this 😂
no 21 is not too young. Literally next generation of railroader. If you want to be taken seriously, work hard, show up, and don't be a know it all idiot and you'll be fine. Act like an old head and know it all you're going to get your ass handed to you
@@RailsTailsandTrailsthanks I needed some confidence
I've missed good times with friends because of overtime, found time for said friends funerals.. and I actually worked a double and came back to my wife's last 20 minutes on this earth... not only labor u give.. but slices of your life you will never get back.. 100k is pretty much starting salary for Amtrak ny divs... 180. Will destroy your family
At least you get paid good money for it and have a home. Most folks work two jobs and aren't even home either. Difference is, they never own a home and are always broke.
Is being in your mid 40s too late to start this job?
Nah. You collect retirement at 66. Go for it
Thank You. Yeah I just passed My assessment and got called for an interview. I believe you about the giving your soul. Will I have zero work Life or is it just a ton of hours? What can you tell me about the schedule? Trust Me I’m no stranger to work I’ve been working 50-60 hours for years
@@blacjackdaniels200you signed up ?
That sucks
Are filming this inside a caboose ? I wish there were still cabooses. The conductor would chill back there
nope that was filmed in my camper
I passed the Union Pacific Railroad Physical Abilities Test for the Train Crew position. I recently completed my background for BNSF & medical assessment done ✅ today. What does BNSF Physical Abilities Test for Conductor Trainee consist of?
they basically stick you in a machine and test strength and range of motion.
🙄🤔 ¥es ¥ not
I don't have a family, debts or any sentimental posessions. I'll sell my soul to the railroad for 100k a year.
Active duty 🫡 I'm the perfect clean slate for this
I Just signed up , , you got in?
