    For someone who has cleared MRCEM and interested in going into training via the DRE-EM pathway, is it advisable to take up a specialty doctor job?

    Great video .
    After working for some time as a Specialty doctor in General Surgery,
    how easy would it be to transition into training culminating into the award of CCT, which is my ultimate dream as an IMG who is yet to complete training in General Surgery in my home country?.
    Thank you.

    • @UKDreamers
      @UKDreamers  Před 10 měsíci

      Please have a look at the eligibility for ST3 surgery.
      It's very competitive to get specialty doctor posts in surgery. As there are less number of training posts with restrictions to apply for training.

      Unfortunately no,
      You Need GMC via Membership pathway to be eligible.
      You could however apply for sponsorship

      You can apply for specialist registration under the acceptable post graduation section.
      Kindly make a gmc account. Kindly discuss with gmc whether u will need english exams or you can directly apply.

    What's the difference between junior clinical fellow and sho ?

    • @UKDreamers
      @UKDreamers  Před rokem

      Anyone who is from F2 till ST2 is essentially a SHO.
      JCF is a non training designation who works as a SHO only.

    Speciality doctor jobs have on-calls? If so are they within hours or out of hours/weekends? And how do they work ie how are you paid for them if there is no banding? Asking for a senior trust grade reg who is negotiating for a speciality doctor to complete cesr before applying for consultant jobs. Thanks

    • @UKDreamers
      @UKDreamers  Před 10 měsíci

      They do have weekends, twilights, nights.
      They don't get paid separately, no banding.
      What ever work they do constitutes towards PA.
      1 PA = 4 hours of normal working hours
      1PA = 3 hours of anti social hours.
      Best wishes
