Were These The Worst Shoes of WWII?

- Jika-Tabi have always been functional shoes and offer some unique benefits. However in World War II, they had a pretty big drawback for Japanese forces. Battlefield V remembers this detail in the game (although all footprints are the same) #battlefield #battlefieldv
BF1: "too little customization"
BFV: "fuck, take it back"
too little? there was none.
@@RosedOrangatan7743 I guess there were weapon skins. Not much, but not nothing.
It’s still so embarrassing how hard people cried over women being in bfv lmao. The second they announced you could change your character to a woman every incel collectively lost their minds
@@Shiesteymaybe because the reveal of this woman showed had like 2 prosthetic limbs and a katana fighting alongside a bunch of barely recognizable British soldiers?
BF1 got it right by adding just enough fictional tech to perfectly blend the aesthetic of early 19th century warfare with the classes that people know in love from battlefield.
The issue with BFV is greater that “muh women”, nobody really had any issue with the female Russian snipers being present on the game cover or in the game functionally.
People saw the BFV reveal and noticed red flags signaling a worrisome departure from form. Which ended up being totally true, as BFV received less that Luke-warm embracement and it’s been worse ever since.
Or “yah yah yah incels” whatever makes you feel better you idiot.
@@ShiesteyI disagree completely.
First I should mention that there have been women present in the battlefield games previously, and the community as a whole had very little issue with it.
Taking a small step back, one of the big reasons that BF1 succeeded was that it took the best aesthetic aspects of warfare in the early 20th century and made some small (but believable) technological liberties in order to preserve the class-based gameplay we all know in love while still making the game unmistakably WW1.
The issue with BFV, specifically the issue you are discussing which I imagine is your memory of the battlefield community reacting to the initial BFV hype trailer some years ago, is in the same area of discussion.
When the community played BF1, there was no concern over sikh rifleman, or black Frenchmen assault troops, or female Russian snipers, as these things happened verifiably in real history and the game not only paid homage to these people by adding them in the game but also did so tactfully. If you found yourself among the Russian rebels in 1916, you could very well find yourself fighting alongside young women.
You would, however, at no point in history, find yourself charging an entrenched German position alongside an English female with prosthetic arms and a katana. It breaks that perfect thin skin of historic believability that was down SO WELL in BF1. This change was more than just “muh women” like you claim, it was a response to a myriad of red flags that signaled to many people that battlefield was no longer being true to form, and was losing its soul.
I think that was the most correct idea, as BFV had lukewarm reception at best and the franchise since then has crashed and burned financially and critically.
Or you can just boil it down to incels being mad. Whatever is easier for you.

They should hav trained them to be aware of the footprints they leave with those shoes. It would be a good way to set up an ambush by just having one soldier wear them and leave footprints leading right in front of one of their terrible MGs.

Are they comfortable?
@@qubek533 they can take a bit of getting used to, and the special socks can be a bit pricey, but they’re very comfortable and reliable shoes.
@@qubek533 For me yes, I'm conditioned for no padding in my shoes so I would keep that in mind.
@@qubek533oh definitely, you could use tabi socks but for me regular socks work fine
With the inaccuracy’s in the game, the one that triggered me the most was the bayonets, they had German style bayonets for the allied weapons and what looked like a m1905 US bayonet for the axis weapons. However for the No.4 Enfield it did have the correct spike style bayonet.
What I thought was wild is that they released this game originally without the m1 garand, was kinda disappointed again when it finally showed up.
@@tylerpentoney3859"it's only the symbol of the US Armed Forces in WW2."
"Is it?"
"Yes."
"But is it?"
Well I mean.... battlefield was never really about accuracy. If you really want a more accurate game play Hell let loose, Squad or Arma. Battlefield is basically just an Arcade shooter (which is fun) and realism is not a priority.
Yeagh initially this game was like WTF with all the weird weapons ie pole charge which was used by the Japanese not the allies etc etc. But if you ignore that its a fantastic game. If they made an update where you can make it more historical weapons then this would be the greatest game.
You're autistic
If you give the player accurate clothes and then they choose the dragon paint and ghille pants with the officers jacket, that's on them.
No, it’s on you for putting that BS in a WW2 game in the first place.
@@ExtantPersonHow? Because some of those are accurate like you're telling me they didn't put face paint on especially for camouflage?
@@wealthybone2990 Did I say ALL the customization in BFV is inaccurate? No, I didn’t. But most of it is. Camouflage face paint and Stahlhelms are accurate, yes. But gas masks and flamboyant capes aren’t.
@@ExtantPersongas masks and capes were used in World War 2. The capes aka rain capes were usually brown or green and were worn by soldiers, nurses also wore rain capes. Gas masks are self explanatory.
I'm just gonna leave this here: last time I played on iwo jima, there was a squad of baby blue german naval officers running around slide canceling and mag dumping smgs into allied soldiers.
If that's not historically accurate, I dont know what is.
despite their association with ninjas and samurais, jika tabis were actually edo period invention, used mostly by workers
Yep best place to buy a good quality pair is a hardware store.

I personally loved how you could have a historically accurate uniform or have a more personalized uniform that while not accurate to what soldiers would’ve worn, it still remains accurate to the uniforms and equipment of the time rather than having some fictional stuff.

They got margielas in battlefield man

Customization would be nice if it didn't try to be Fornite levels of goofy in a serious historical war environment.
Give each class for the factions a template where you can swap out pieces depending on drops / challenges completed. Make the pieces distinguishable, but not silly. Like something that would exist and not look out of place on a soldier of the times.
Boom I fixed it.
Ya and a GI boot is the same way. They can tell it’s Americans cause that thing is a size 11 with hobnails through it. Tabis were a quiet foot ware that provided some extra dexterity.
Damn BFV really got them Wolf’s shoes from Sekiro
Now I want those boots
The shoes were not the problem nor was they being distinct make a difference.
Its muddy and sandy, a butterfly could leave a print next to water in those conditions.
Even a new yorker could track in those conditions.

It really was job like been spy or such which can include assassinations in addition to espionage. What sort of modern pop culture gets wrong is that they didnt wear some kinda special outfits or something, and they were not some special class of people, but they were from all kind of different backgrounds. Just like these shoes are associated with ninja because modern image of them, but they were just normal shoe style in japan
Got dem Margiela
Funny story. An American scout was leading a patrol and needed new footwear. His feet were smaller than average so couldn't get any American boots. After an engagement he found a Japanese body with his size. On that patrol his officers kept telling him to continue with enthusiasm. It was an hour into that patrol that he realized the tracks that the officers were following were the fresh tracks he just made himself.
Kinda comfy being weight spread out
WW2: yes
USSR in bf V: yeah, we were not so much important in that little war
Wow, someone actually tried it.
If BFV’s customization system were less outlandish, it would honestly be an incredible WW2 game, in my opinion. But there’s only so many gas mask-wearing elderly women with trench coats fighting in North Africa I can see before forgetting what the setting is supposed to be.
Toe sandals
To be fair that also makes it easy for the Japanese to identify american boots
Technically yes, but Japanese troops still used more conventional footwear.
Some of the best for covert “ comfortable “ and tactical advantage. Minus a weird track
They got the margielas 🤤
Pov: This must be worst shoes in ww2
Soviets: whats shoes?💀
ALSO, you can kill an enemy with the back last of a row let launcher.
BF1 and BF5 be like: yeah every soldier has an automatic rifle
Gardeners and other workers still wear them in Japan.
Jika-Tabi if I remember correctly was more of a work shoe/boot that could be used in combat if needed because of shortages of boots depending on the unit.
they got that margelia
Well iv been watching you'r videos years has passed. Its my dream to play battlefield 1. As I can't afford a pc I wish I will play it in future.Keep it up! We love your contents!
Got a lot of heat for historical inaccuracy on uniforms but no one complained about using any gun for any factions…
oh no they definitely complained
Because theoretically you could be an American soldier and pick up a Gewehr from a fallen enemy, with you "spawning in" acting as a continuation of a previous engagement where you acquired the rifle.
At no point could you have been a female infantry for the US.
One is possible, if not unlikely. The other did not happen.
The fact that all of the British uniforms were AMERICAN was a massive blunder.. how hard is looking up some ww2 pictures?British battledress is sick af, yes they added it as a purchasable skin later on but the fact it’s not the default is DUMB.
I wish BFV was an alt history steampunk ww2
These shoes are also associated with the samurai as if you research into it you can find that the samurai also wore this type of footwear on the battlefield.
Nothing touches BF1 in terms of historical accuracy, the best one they’ve ever made.
1/4 of the German army was African according to battlefield one, it wasn’t accurate when it came to portrayal sometimes
@@bearsausage8599still cool to see them in the game, just like the female Russian snipers

Too young for Battlefield 1942, huh?
BFV could have avoided most of the controversy if it had leaned more into the Alt-History Diesel Punk aesthetic, like what the Wolfenstein Reboots did. It’s tragic that EA is still somehow successful despite ruining far too many IP’s.
You didn't have to do my brother like that

I loved the customization in battlefield 5! Its the best in entire battlefield.... Now ee have skins you can only buy with real money 😅😅😅 i hope they change it back tbh
Looks like the predecessor of barefoot shoes?
Japanese have Jika-tabis, but Brits have Tele-tubies.
Some bf5 players can be hypocrites. Talk about inaccuracies then end up wearing the most inaccurate uniform and loadout combinations ever. Nothing like seeing a german hero character with a gold bren gun with a suppressor on pacific island maps or seeing a german wearing a heavy winter coat on a africa front map holding a ariska rifle. Its why i like the mods bf5 have now. Fixes the uniform problems. The weapons though is completely out of their hands so it still bothers me seeing a historically accurate german uniforms but the olayer opted to have a gold tommy gun
At least the historical accuracy is 100000x more accurate than Cod vanguard.
"traditional association with ninjas"
Most, if not all historians say that ninjas where made up
It’s a game you don’t want it to real wait until it so real ppl come back with real ptsd
In a ww2 game is the gp5 gas mask that needs to be hated
Tabi aren’t the comfiest but they’re lightweight and are easy to take on and off in a hurry
Jika-Tabi… Aargh^〜
Fun fact there not called ninjas there actually called shinobis and shinobis never wore black they wore dark blue to look like the sky and the reason the word ninja became a thing was bc of stage play
I feel like BFV has really good customization, you can be as historically accurate as you want, and as inaccurate as you want. All about choice.
We had it good in BFV now look at games todays lol
Is that Anthony Padilla with face paint?
They cut support right before reworking the uniforms to be more historically accurate :(
If the launch trailer wasnt so terrible if the head dev didn't put out a stupid political message and insult the fan base, and if the campaign was actually good and not just myth or something made up to tell a fake message and if they included the soviets then mabey just mabey the game could have had a better fate
Just think about how more brutal these games would look and would catch the grim vibe of the battlefield if they made realistic looking blood instead of 5 splashing pixels of redness, and removed those hit markers, and the hub thats hiding half the screen
Didn’t know Finn Balor was in the game! (If ya know, you’ll get it)
The people complaining about historical accuracy in battlefield games need to get bent.
Still more accurate uniforms than COD WWII
This game with the 1944 mod, basically authentic player skins made this game immersive as hell. Then they patched it and now you can't use it so no play for me.
Ppl were mad over customization?
First world problems ig
The japanese uniform in ww2 was perfect for jungle and swamp. The british uniform with leather boots and wool socks was shit.

Wasn't the customization that we hated? It was the goofy just c***** customization. They thought we wanted like who wanted a prosthetic in a war zone. We wanted something that looked realistic for mil players or just the casual fact of the matter IS we didn't want the prosthetic Warrior woman Patriot smashing crazy person. And that was exactly why this game didn't get as good as it could have been
Those ninja turtle shoes got scorched the same as any other pair when the nukes dropped.

Wouldn’t that hurt your feet after wearing them for a while?
If you’re used to traditional shoes yeah lol, if you get used to them they’re more comfortable than regular ones, they dont force your feet into a V shape.
Whats the name of the game?
I never got the hate for the cosmetics, most of the time it doesnt run my immersion, I only see them, when I am dead, anywhere else theres too many explosions, dust storms, fire and bullets raining around, a flamboyant female german officer isnt my main concern
Am I wrong or was almost all the customization locked behind payable dlc? I clicked a ton of hours in the game and never got anything besides a hand full of free shit cosmetics
