Throwing a football is easy. Throwing a football correctly, with spiral, is not.
To begin, hold the ball in your dominant hand - your middle, ring, and pinkie fingers should be on the laces, while your pointer and thumb should be gripping the point of the football.
Stand with your feet and body perpendicular to your target. Bring your eyes on where you want the ball to go, and bring and keep your elbow at shoulder height while you launch the football toward your target.
Your follow-through should leave your throwing hand touching your opposite hip. When you throw the ball, turn your hips and shoulders toward your target - this is where the power comes from. If you don't put your whole body into the throw, it will likely come up short of your target. As you turn your body, shift your weight from your back foot to the front.
To add spiral - and seriously, it's the coolest part of throwing a football - make sure your fingertips are the last thing to release the ball. Snap your wrist upon release.
Bad throws result when your focus is on the throw itself. Instead, concentrate on your release and follow-through to ensure a tight spiral - and remember to turn your hips and shift your weight to get good distance.

Great instructions of throwing the foot ball. I see that the right elbow lead the right hand at the top of the throw. This same concept works exceedingly well with golfer as they start their downswing; except, naturally on a different plane. Very interesting!

I’m athletic and I have good form and definitely good power in my arm I just couldn’t get a perfect spiral throw, it’s all about that follow through and I just kept fucking it up. I think I’m holding on to the ball a little too hard before release.

The way you hold the ball doesn't matter. Every quarter back has their own comfortable way of hand placement. It's on your stance and the way you ark your shoulders and how far back you're winding back your arm to throw.

I've always put my middle finger in the first lace not in front of it. That was how my first football coach ever in youth football threw the ball and that stuck with me. I've tried other ways and that way feels the best to me

Thanks for the video. Hope it helps me. My brother is one year older than me and can throw a 65 yard pass...he had colleges trying to convince them to be their quarter back. He can throw farther than anyone else I know. We are now in our early 30s and i can't even throw 20 yards anymore. We have been playing catch for 23 years now but I just can't keep up anymore. Ps neither of us have ever actually been a quarter back, but my brother can out throw every one of them he has ever competed against.

You missed the most important parts loading, elbow above the shoulder when throwing, tucking the non throwing elbow, and the ball is flat Tom Brady. Lol.

Good way of dumbing it down for some people, but I can tell you're still missing a lot of key fundamentals and mechanics. Plus, the ball doesn't come out of your hand right. Sure, you have a nice tight spiral, but the nose of the ball comes out of your hand pointing to the right. Its supposed to come out of your hand pointing straight at your target (which is all in the wrist). The only time the tip of the ball should point right (right handers) is when you throw a long arching ball. Which is the ball "turning over" because of the spin rate. But, all in all, well put together video 🤙🏻
Yeah and when he puts the ball by his ear. It shouldn’t be that high at all. Chest is where it should be.

I was taught to have my index finger be the last part of my hand to contact the ball and rotate my hand so that my thumb was pointing to the ground just after release. Not sure if I’m explaining it correctly…

@@Will-pc9eq nah, if you are throwing hard it's honestly more likely to slip from the catchers hand. So what you wanna do instead is follow all the way through with your and and try putting your shoulder into it more to get it further instead of just doing it hard. If you know anyone you could practice with them and see which technique can work for you to throw the ball softer. Also good job dude
