- Artist: Porcupine Tree
Album: Fear Of A Blank Planet
Genre: Progressive Rock
Year: 2007
Lyrics:
A good impression of myself
Not much to conceal
I'm saying nothing
But I'm saying nothing with feel
I simply am not here
No way I...
Shut up, be happy
Stop whining please
Because of who we are
We react in mock surprise
The curse of "there must be more"
So don't breathe here,
Don't leave your bags
I simply am not here
No way I...
Shut up, be happy
Stop whining please
The dust in my soul
Makes me feel the weight in my legs
My head in the clouds
And I'm zoning out
I'm watching TV
But I find it hard to stay conscious
I'm totally bored
But I can't switch off
Only apathy from the pills in me
It's all in me, all in you
Electricity from the pills in me
It's all in me, all in you
Only MTV, cod philosophy
We're lost in the mall
Shuffling through the stores like zombies
What is the point?
What can money buy?
My hand's on a gun
And I find the range, God tempt me
What did you say?
Think I'm passing out
[x2]
Only apathy from the pills in me
It's all in me, all in you
Electricity from the pills in me
It's all in me, all in you
Only MTV, cod philosophy
Water so warm that day (water so warm that day)
I counted out the waves (I counted out the waves)
As they broke into shore
I smiled into the sun
The water so warm that day
I was counting out the waves
And I followed their short life
As they broke on the shoreline
I could see you
But I couldn't hear you
You were holding your hat in the breeze
Turning away from me in this moment
You were stolen as black across the sun
Water so warm that day (water so warm that day)
I counted out the waves (I counted out the waves)
As they broke into shore (as they broke into shore) - Krátké a kreslené filmy
My favourite song of all time. I remember when I saw it live, the atmosphere was unbelievable. 🤘
which venue? saw them in philly 09
Hands down the best Porcupine Tree song
The dust in my soul, makes me feel the weight in my legs... epic song
After 6 years and 6 months still the best song I have ever heard
They need to make a movie out of this album
YES!! Please 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Oh yes!
This album is so epic my soul can barely contend with having heard it.
Gavin Harrison is a monster.
Fuck yeah, that dude is the maaaann.
Indeed!
Like a cross between jordison and carey
No contest!
@Russell White Yeah just listen to the song, fucking pussy
One of the best songs of all time period, it's well crafted, it offers everything you want in a prog song. 🤘🤘.
I still come back to it,.
@@capth00k still here
@@rishabhsomething Yup, except I own a bunch of albums I didn't think I was gonna buy.
Masterpiece ! (i dont say that often)
I'm a metal head. Like I only listen to classic metal, like Slayer, Maiden, Priest etc. But I can't stop listening to this song. It's so freaking good! It's a brilliant piece of music, genius! And the drums! Omg!!!
Joseph Rubin nice bro!! Check out their song Deadwing, it’s also pretty heavy.
How can human beings even create something like this?
These dudes came from outer space ;).
By manipulating sound waves.
Music Genius through and though....
these guys were born geniuses, understanding music at a higher level than any of us normal people ever could. I personaly feel like they understood music at a much deeper meaning than we do, thus which they created this masterpiece.
Cela fait une éternité que je n'ai pas entendu une pièce musicale aussi significative et chaque seconde d'attente en valait la peine. Génial!
If perfection does exist. This is it.
There are a few epics in rock history that will take you on a journey and leave you dazed and the finish leaves you down on the ground. Starless by King Crimson, Larks' Tongues (Part 1) by King Crimson, Shine on (all parts) by Pink Floyd, and this wonderful, wonderful piece, Anesthethize. On headphones, listening to the coda makes me feel hollow and depressed. Powerful music.
Listen to the last two songs on Karnivool's Sound Awake album. 😉
And Rishloo - Downhill
Just don't forget Hemispheres
I think Tarkus by ELP fits in this list.
@OreillyORLY Echoes is just incredible
Truly awesome....
I always knew this was a great record, but this song specifically... I didn't realize its greatness until yesterday when I blazed and decided to listen to this while out and about just as the sun began to rise. The whole record was great, but I kept replaying this track. Replayed Sentimental too, just not more than once. Criminally underrated group.
This song is the real deal......
Masterpiece...
Out fricking standing!
masterpiece! nice sound quality! tks
Anyone else feel like the structure of this song is close to Gates of Delirium from Yes?
Every time I hear it it makes my hair stand on end. Getting ready to go see them in Berlin
Thanks for the HQ version
Why this album is not on Spotify? Its not fair!!
Or Amazon Music :(
It now is ... But only the live version
And not on Apple Music!! Only the live version!! Damn it!!
BUY
LP OR CD FUCKERS.....NEW GEN....SORRY...
BECAUSE IT’ TOO GOOD. Buy this LP/vinyl and you”ll know really quickly why it’s still not on Spotify.
Loooveee
I just don't get how people don't get it!
People who don't get it don't get how you don't get people that don't get it. XD This could go on forever.
What is there to get
Stop whining please
How many times do I have to listen to this song, to make me tired?
Eso solo se puede responder matemáticamente. Lim (1/x) cuando x --> 0
A Once Upon a Time character Zelena fan made music video for Anesthetize will be uploaded today, and I like it sir.
Best track on the album particularly the first 3minutes
The best ever. I love this track, and Sky moves Sideways. Genius!
This track climaxes perfectly for me 10:00 to 10:30
0:00 - 17:45 is the best part of the song

I get Radiohead vibes from this
lifeson is inhuman
So is Harrison.
nick holland thanks
I didn't like the solo, I think it didn't fit. There, I said it. *runs for life*
@@Adiaf8orosI disagee, I think the solo fits right in.
Are you fucking kidding? That solo is perhaps the greatest moment of the song!
Vengo por marti c:
8:21
Seventeen minutes!? It's longer than Inagaddadavida.
lol its actually not that hard to find songs that long or more
A lot of prog bans have some 15-25 minute long song because I guess it was kinda the trend, not a bad trend if its well made tho, but some stuff tryed to hard and felt pretentious and nowdays kinda outdated, luckly we got this song sooooo
Ryan Lol yeah. I also sometimes listen to Dream Theater and they have an epic 23 minute song called A Change of Seasons
@@theoneandonlylordfarquaad3361 Octavarium all the way
Don’t forget about six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. 42 minutes
Just one problem with the lyrics.... the waves broke into SURF and not shore.
The build ups are masterful but they don't result in anything inventive.
Do better 😆
You dumb dumb
big dumb dumb
Nothing except all those delicious hooks.
Yeah I kinda feel you, I'm gonna have to listen a few more times but it doesn't really peak the way I wanted it to.
Someone throw him overboard
Can't believe people call this band prog. So far, all I hear is an alt rock band and this is basically a 17 minute alt rock song, only one slightly proggy part during the whole song and it was very short.
You can't judge a band by one song. You're right, this track isn't Prog proper. Try their 'Mellotron Scratch' for a decent example of their Prog.
Alex Lifeson's solo is simply perfect!
