My dad was intubated back in June. As the family, it was the worst thing we could possibly imagine. He pulled though, thank god. He’s doing wonderful now. I, my dad, and my entire family is beyond grateful for all the doctors, nurses, and cnas that have been working tirelessly to care for these terribly sick patients. ❤️❤️❤️

My husband is in ICU and is on day 9 of the ventilator. He is 74. The nurses and doctors are doing everything they can to get him through this. I am so thankful for them. COVID is real folks. I don’t understand why people think otherwise.

March 10th 2021 this was my exact experience. I was in a induced coma for a month. I was the only one to make it out of ICU from what I was told. I want to thank Winthrop Hospital doctors and nurses for saving my life. I was dying and they saved me. I don’t ever want to go through this
again ever in my life. So grateful to God for sparing me. Doctors and nurses should be respected for there hard work because they put there life on the line as well. Thank you 🙏🏽

Yeah, as someone in the ICU I don't agree with that number. Covid Patients maybe but Most of the patients that are intubated at my facility make it.

My dad had gotten COVID-19 in April 2020. He was in a induce coma for 15 days when he passed away April 21 2020. He rapidly got pneumonia. We couldn’t say bye to him or be by his side. COVID-19 was so new. I feel so guilty not saying bye. But I talk to my dad every single day of my life. We were very close family. He will always be remembered and missed 😢❤️
same story as yours...my father(65) left us in a moment we will regret for the rest of our lives that we couldn't say him good bye he was saying that nothing has happened to him..but all of a sudden what happened even my father couldn't understand..we regret that my father always lived in poverty and a very miserable life..but now when our happy days came he left us..we were 4 in my family.. very close to each other..God gave us one thing but took away another in turn

I was on the ventilator back in August 2021. 10 days of not moving made for a difficult recovery. But I can say that I am nearly back to normal today. I have much to be thankful for, starting with the ICU staff. God bless them.

***Update to my original post. He is back to volunteering, cutting grass for 30 minutes, and doing his office work. Each day strength is improving. We are thankful he made it home and an answer to prayer. Our family is praying for all families that are dealing with Covid and healing for them as well. Those who have lost loved ones I pray for peace for the families. I thank each health care worker for their tireless efforts.

They have been working under extreme stress for a whole year and they are risking their own health daily. Many of us may just call it a day but the health care professionals n hospital staff soldiered on and we have to salute all of them. They are very brave and sacrifice a lot. Thank you so much even though many are unable to make it. They have received care from you. And their families will be grateful for all that you have done.

Having been put in an induced coma I've had that IV in my jugular, two weeks later I had lost so much muscle mass I had to learn to walk again! Hope everyone makes a speedy recovery!

It's fake my dear....the doctor even said when we ventilate, they have a 60% mortality rate! I been ventilated for some operations and of course, they do ventilate to put you under and I did not die. For this, They Blow out your lungs on purpose and that is why there is a 60% mortality rate because they are Killing Sheeple off. Nobody mentioned Respiratory Therapists. Highest exposure profession. They are face to face with every covid patient and run the ventilators, high flow, bipaps, and at every bronchoscopy!
Thank you to the wonderful nurses who saved my life. They are the heroes who are still taking care of me as I recover. I was intubated and on a ventilator in a coma for over 10 days. I also fought the ventilator and I managed to wake up. Weaned off the ventilator recently. They removed my CVC recently and I'm doing PT learning to walk again.

Y’all, I’m a patient care tech for a covid unit and this is so mentally and physically draining for not just us but the patients. We are the hands they hold when they’re scared. We are they’re therapist, healers among many other things! It’s rough, but I’m always hopeful during all my shifts. I have the privilege to see my covid patients go home with healthy lungs 🫁.
Praying for those who have lost loved ones during the pandemic 😷. I zipped up my first body bag recently. It’s a horrible feeling and so disturbing to have to do that to a human body. Covid is real, and it’s breaking all of us workers down.

RN here for 17 yrs, im glad i opted a different unit, i was an ICU RN before covid,,im thankful to God Almighty that He guided me in deciding to transfer out,,now im happy with Oncology with no Covid pts to take care off
even if you survive the ventilator, the effects of being that sick for that long are sometimes semi-permanent or permanent. pressure ulcers, tracheal stent migration, tracheostomies. i had one patient present back to the ER after being in the COVID ICU for a month. he came back with endless complications due to a brain injury sustained during a cardiac arrest. surviving the ventilator does not typically lead to normalcy.

My father tested for Covid on Monday December 28, 2021. Results came back positive Tuesday December 29. Drove himself to the hospital Monday January 3, 2021 and was admitted for 2 week stay at the VA hospital. He was released the afternoon of Jamuary 18. Stayed at home until Thursday January 21 at which point I took him back to the hospital. Treated with the Bi-Pap until Thursday January 26 when he was placed on the ventilator as the Bi-Pap was not sufficient enough to keep his oxygen levels up even with his FiO2 set at 100%. We didnt have the chance to speak with him before being placed on the ventilator. Today, February 9, while still at 100% O2 on the ventilator, a Tracheostomy was performed and the Doctors say the procedure went well. Waiting to see progression some time this week. We havent heard from him in 17 days but we talk to the nurses daily and hold a daily prayer for him at 2pm.. I LOVE YOU DAD!!!

I don’t know how the seniors do it. I’m 46 and I was tested last night and I came back positive. This is hell. My temp keeps going up, Back pain and chest pain. Trying to breath. It’s rough. God bless them and their strength and I hope all the heroes ( Healthcare workers ) stay safe
I’m so sorry you’re so sick Jonathan! I am sincerely praying for you! Do you have someone ,a relative or friend that is close by in case you need anything? Many have swore by Vitamin D,zinc and NAC (N-Acetyl-L -Cysteine) it’s an amino acid that has helped with covid patients who were struggling to breath. The combo of these has eased symptoms& shortened the length of the virus.God bless you!🙏🏼

The nurses I have talked to say once a person goes on a ventilator it's all over. The body gets used to assisted breathing and can't go back.

As I watching this, my dad is in Covid ICU. He is 87. He won't be able to make it. but still, so grateful to the doctors, all medical professionals, all facilities. Words can't express my feeling. But, for "ordinary" people, the BEST way to help, help yourself, help others, and helps our great country is to wearing mask, follow the rule, don't gether. It is a SMALL price to pay for huge life and country that you can save ! Please!

They didn’t want any family members/advocates around when they ☠️ them with remdesivir. Grace Schara from Wisconsin is one example of many.

The Respiratory Therapist is who inserts the breathing tube (ETT) and also operates the ventilator that you spoke of throughout this piece. THE RT was not mentioned one time. Please do a better job with reporting and research.
Respiratory therapists do not intubate. Anesthesiologists or critical care doctors do. But I agree, respiratory therapists play a very important role in the care and maintenance of intubated patients. They deserve great recognition!
Patti. You would not be happy no matter how they reported.
RT's may not intubate at that particular facility.
Respiratory Therapists intubate in certain instances. This is generally uncommon. RT's do provide assistance to physicians in some medical facilities, but it's rare an RT intubates a patient alone.
You need to do your research before you start telling somebody else to do theirs.

Thank you to all doctors and nurses! This is so scary in so many ways. I was hospitalized this year, not for covid but due to extreme food poising and I told my nurses you could not pay me enough to do their jobs. Then I thanked them.

This virus is horrible. A dear friend of mine who I knew since I was real little that my family and I were taking care of for two years passed away just three weeks ago due to covid-19. We were only born one day apart and his mom was from Ukraine and his dad what's from the US and they had him one year after she got her citizenship here. He was diagnosed with a very aggressive terminal illness at Birth and the doctors told his family that it would get worse as he got older but sometimes it may give him a break during his teen years which it did. I'll never forget when it got to the point where his doctor said he would need around-the-clock care and before it even got to that point he had to do so much from breathing treatments and different types of medications all the way to a feeding tube and using a wheelchair and Walker as needed. But it got to the point where he would need IV Therapy every day instead of just every now and again he would require nighttime oxygen and oxygen during the day as needed Physical Therapy every day just to keep the strength he has and suctioning whenever it would become too hard for him to breathe and so on so forth. Basically he would need around-the-clock care and due to his parents developing health problems they couldn't do it anymore so my family said that we would take him in and take care of him from now on and I'll never forget when we loaded his hospital bed with him laying in it in our big van and while my parents were driving I was sitting right next to him. This was just a week after our 18th birthday celebration because again we were only born one day apart so we even shared a birthday party.
He was a very very very devout Eastern Ukrainian Catholic and I think that really helped him through all the challenges his illness brought 10. Since my mom used to be an RN before becoming a stay-at-home mom I learned how to do every single aspect of his care from his breathing treatments feeding tube feedings and physical therapy all the way to doing daily IV pokes in his Port giving IV medications changing his feeding tube when needed managing his oxygen and suctioning when he needed it.
When he came to me and told me that something wasn't right and to call his doctor I did and whenever he's not feeling great due to his health his doctor always told us to bring him into the hospital because with his health it could always take a turn and she told us to bring him in right away. When he got on his bed and we loaded it into the van and as we were driving to the hospital I was sitting right next to him in the seat next to his bed and I could hear him singing this Ukrainian Catholic hymn that would traditionallyonly be sung at an Eastern Catholic funerals or by the person that may not pull through and because he was usually a fighter and pulled through before he always had the attitude that he was going to make it but when he was singing that hymn completely in Ukrainian that broke my heart to pieces it really did.
It was a stroke of luck but his doctor was able to get him his own room at the hospital and when we pulled in enrolled his bed out the nurses were ready and while my dad was pushing his bed through I was walking by him holding his hand and another thing that really broke me was the fact that he was actually shaking he was that scared I couldn't believe it. The Hospital knew him really really well and so did all the nurses and they could tell something was not right at all and that he wasn't coming in just for his traditional two weeks worth of treatment. He thought that they weren't going to let me in with him because of the virus and as my parents were talking to the nurse while I was comforting him and calming him he said to me please Carmon please don't go and I told him that I will do whatever I can and whatever I have to do so that way I don't have to go anywhere. After my parents talked to the nurse she came up to him and told him that she understood and could tell how scared he really was but only one person could go to his room with him and if they did they would have to quarantine themselves in the room with him. I looked at my parents and they said that I should go with him.
When him and I got up to his room the nurse was really sweet the entire time and she told him that due to the things that are going on they have to do a covid-19 test and he has experienced viral swabs before and he does not enjoy them so he was not happy but she reminded him that I was right there and that while it may not be pleasant I was going to keep him calm while she did it. After she swabed him because all of a sudden it got hard for him to breathe she got his oxygen on him and checked his oxygen and saw that it was dropping. The test came back and it was positive. it was starting to become apparent that oxygen wasn't going to be enough and he always used a BiPAP at night while sleeping along with oxygen so the nurse said that he would have to wear his BiPAP and his oxygen day and night since he was having trouble breathing. when he got that positive test he was so scared that the doctor or the hospital wouldn't let me stay with him anymore but his nurse told him that they were going to get a cot for me so that way I can have somewhere to sleep and so we could still go with the plan of having me Stay there in quarantine with him. I got my test and for some reason I came up negative. and for some reason I came up negative.
He was still able to speak but he was really tired. for a couple days it seems like he was starting to get better but then all of a sudden It was not good. His doctor and the nurse said that the best course of action would be to intubate him with a ventilator but that was hard for me to take but it was especially hard for him to take because he's been through that before this pandemic and he told me he would never want to do that again. and he told his nurse completely in Ukrainian in his exact words please no I would rather be with my Lord Jesus and my babushka and my dadushka now. if he is calling me home I want to go home and I want to go in peace and comfort and because that nurse knew him really well she understood bits and pieces but she needed me to translate a little bit so I translated what he said and it broke that nurses heart that after 21 long years of fighting and pulling through that due to what he heard about covid-19 and the odds of people that had to go on the ventilator especially if they had health problems that he just wanted to go peacefully. Those two Ukrainian words mean Grandma and Grandpa.
When it was time for the night shift nurses to come in after day shift left he said to me Carmon I feel really tired really weak and really scared I would like to pass into heaven but I would like to pass in the manner that Jesus did after he died on the lap of the Virgin Mary in her arms and I would like to go to heaven starting where I feel safest and I knew what he meant so I called his night shift nurse who was a very sweet Eastern Orthodox lady and she had another nurse come in and they both lifted him up so that way he could pass away peacefully in my lap. While he was in my lap we had a zoom call with my parents and his parents and that was the hardest video call I have ever had to do. He would talk to the rest of us in English but he would talk to his mom and dad in Ukrainian. Three words that he said really pulled at my heartstrings because due to his illness he has been through so much and he never complained but those three words were it hurts Carmon. And I said to him I know honey I know but you will be with our Lord soon and when I said that he became more at peace with the situation.
after the call he told me that he was content with going to his Lord but also really scared at the same time and his Eastern Orthodox night shift nurse came in to check on us and she could tell it was almost that time. And even though he was Eastern Catholic and his nurse was Eastern Orthodox their prayers and hymns their denominations were identical for the most part so after he told me he was scared I held his hand while he was in my lap and said shhh it's okay I'm here and I'm not going anywhere be at peace. and before him his nurse and I started singing their Eastern hymns she held his hand and calmly told him Carmon's here and her and I will make sure you go to heaven peacefully. After we sang his favorite Eastern hymn which was a very beautiful one I placeed my hand on his chest and then out of nowhere his heart just stopped beating he stopped breathing and that's when I knew he left and went to a better place but before he did go after we all chanted he said to me in Ukrainian then English I love you Carmon and thank you.
God bless his nurse because right when he passed I couldn't hold it anymore and she gave me her shoulder to lean on and his funeral liturgy was so beautiful even though it was just me my family and his parents And his priest. There were a couple of other close family members and friends but that's it. His dad learned and was fluent in Ukrainian so he gave his eulogy completely in Ukrainian And I gave mine completely in English. The family asked me to give a eulogy and I was touched and honored to be able to do so they also asked me to sing the song that he sang on the way to the hospital that is usually done for these occasions and that was very beautiful very somber and very hard at the same time. his family and my family all bursted into tears after church because of how beautiful they told me I sounded. . May you rest in peace my sweet Kyrylo. you were such a wonderful person and I'm glad I was able to be more or less like your nurse for these two years and also like your one day older sister. there is a big hole in my heart now that you're gone but I know you're in heaven and I will see you one day

Why are these patients being left on their backs? They should be turning these patients on their side or back.
Well it is now coming out that the covid protocols (remdesivir and venting) are killing people and they are calling the deaths covid. Nurses and other healthcare professionals are speaking out and one of them said exactly what you said. They are keeping people on their backs and not even trying to get them up and moving. They are not providing life saving medicine and in some cases not even providing the basics like nutrition. These healthcare systems make a ton of money off these covid deaths. The doctors dont work for the patients. They work for healthcare systems that take orders from the government and the CDC. I was on a ventilator and paralyzing meds when i had a lung removed for cancer reasons. Hellish experience. Ventilator breathing for you is an awful feeling. Paralyzing meds are terrifying. Feel completely helpless. Anyone who wants to risk going through this for some stupid party or other social nonsense is dumber than dirt.

We had an 85% success rate. Just have to be at a good hospital.
Not always! I was in the ICU when I was 14 just hours away from death but amazing doctors cured me and here I am at age 25 with a beautiful daughter

It is. They are keeping life saving meds from people and then giving the remdesivir which makes them worse and then they put them on a vent and then say “covid” got them. They get money for this. The medical industrial complex is corrupt. The good doctors and nurses are getting out of these systems. Soon only order followers with no critical thinking skills will be working in these hospitals.
I just still can’t believe this has all happened, it’s like a never ending nightmare. I’m very grateful to be in Australia.
