Had to see this again...I modified the design to fit a premade coop on top of your design which is amazing...a three story coop. The linolem is now part of a second story nesting area. Now I am builing your frame design again to add to the original for an estimated 12 foot bottom run area becase the sun hits in the late afternoon and I needed to give them some dirt and shade. Thanks again.
Stop apologizing you already know more than most of us as far as we know your doing everything exactly right.
Very nicely done! I LOVE the idea of the trap door for cleanout!
Thank you so much for sharing the detailed process! I am preparing to tackle building this one.
Wow! Great job! I am thinking about building another chicken coop for my girls and I have been looking at some of these movable coop models. Yours is a lot stronger than the ones on the market. God bless and thank you for your instructive video.
Thank you, I will say in hindsight it would have been better to use an actual set of chicken tractor tires which lift the coop and provide a little more clearance.
You are doing God's work. Lots of tips and tricks that newbies will benefit from. Oh, NICE build also.
Thank you!
This is a really nice setup. One important thing I would change would be adding more ventilation. Chickens really only need wind protection so the upper portions of the house should be more open so the waste gasses can escape quickly and easily. Their poop can become toxic to the birds and you won't really know it until they die
Thank you for this project and plans. The cost may be a bit more compared to big box/Amozon, but this is better wood than chep pine or common that they seem to use. Quality is perfect. I use presure treated for everything. Especially in Louisiana with the humidity, storms, and termites. This is perfect and will last. Thank you. Love your work and craftsmanship!
Thank you so much, great job, describing, working, and sharing!
Thank you!
Wow. Thanks so much very detailed. Much appreciated.
Good evening from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Thanks for sharing your experience on building your chicken coop. 🇺🇸
Sweeeet. Onto my next project. God bless you good sir!!
Did you see the link to the plans in the description? I just posted them 👍
😊thank you for this video and all your explanations in it.Its very helpful👍👍👍
Thank You awesome build and also your BLK Walnut video. I will let My Friends know. That coop is a Tank! Awesome ideas!
Thank you!!
You make great coops! You should upload more!
It’s really cute I like it
Great coop
Great Job
It’s very interesting no apologies necessary
Thank you. 👍🕊⚘️
Great video
Thank you!
excellent
As long as you have something else pushing the "cutted" board through other than your hands. It's safe you're not in harm.
Your a perfectionist
Yes, I am, and it majes projects take 2x as long. Haha.
You should have chosen heavy duty 1/2in.² hardware cloth to keep predators out, that cheap flimsy chicken wire won't protect your chickens from anything "/
I made one similar to this and used a pocket hole jig for all the pre-drilling.
I bought the K5 Kreg jig.
Wonderful video bro!😅😅
It looks pretty though
Fix for opening of nest box, open on side not top
Thank you very much for sharing these detailed plans. How many hens would fit in this size coop?
Hey, I would say 3 hens is ideal for this coop, possibly 4 if you’re able to let them free range during the day.
Nest box is almost as deep as entire house!
Yes I addressed that in the commentary
Maybe consider using the back as your door, the chickens would like that better😊
Perhaps wheels should be larger and further apart?
any rough idea of how many 2x3x8s i would need for this project? trying to see if this will be below the cost of a prefab coop
Good question, I haven’t done a supply list for the coop / run, but I would estimate the total cost of this project to be between 600-650. The lumber / t1-11 was probably only half of that. Chicken wire, hinges, door hardware, shingles, and paint all added up very quickly.
I can guarantee you it will last a decade or more, and the same can’t be said about a lot of prefab coops.
Do you have a cut list that would pair with this coop? Great design can’t wait to build one!
Yes I would love to also see the cut list added to the video description!
Hey, no cut list yet, but I’ve got a plan in the works. Hope to have it posted in two weeks! Stay tuned 👍
How many chickens will this fit 2, 4? Approx. Cost? Thank you so much for all the details. Are you building these to sell? Or was this just a self build?
Hey! Yeah, I would say this coop is perfect for 3 chickens, maybe 4 if you’re able to let them free range during the day. At this point I am planning to keep this coop, but I have contemplated building them to sell. As you can tell, it’s a lot of work and it’s hard to compete with the prices at amazon and tractor supply. 🫤
Great job. Can you give me an estimate on how much the lumbar cost to build this coop? That will help me with my budget.
The lumber would probably cost about 300-350, but with the roof, linoleum, chicken wire, and door hardware it’s probably up near 600
Great work and thank you for making this video. Have the plans been updated with the additions you wish you have added as mentioned in the commentary? If not, not worries. Just wanting to make a note if they haven't been added.
Thanks! Yep, the plans I uploaded should reflect the changes. Good luck!
Great work! Best home for chickens.
Is there anyway to build simpler?
Hello yes you could simplify this design. Build only one access door on the coop and one on the side of run (instead of two which it currently has). You could eliminate the “x” on the coop access door which is merely aesthetic. Paint everything one color (trim, coop, and run). Eliminating the linoleum and the trap door would simplify the design, but I wouldn’t do either of those.
I did not watch the whole thing, but did you demonstrate moving it around? Its a beautiful design.
Hey thanks! I didn’t show it in this video, but there’s a demo in the coop tour video for this build. Honestly, I’ll probably need to get a proper set of chicken tractor wheels to give me some more clearance. As it’s built now, it does move but it should be easier.
Good show! What’s the trap door for? Fire exit?
For cleaning out the bedding
Thank you so much for sharing the details. How can I contact you directly as we may collaborate somehow? Thanks!
Hello, you can contact me directly at eflemYT@yahoo.com
awesome vid!.. where did you get the wheels and attachment from?..
I got them from harbor freight, but I think I’ll have to upgrade to a proper set of chicken tractor wheels at some point. It gets tough to move this is if the grass is long or the ground is uneven
Thank you!!!
My ag class wants to build one of these, how do I go about getting some plans?
There’s a set of basic plans in the video description
It’s a great design, but how do the chickens get up to the loft?
They hop right up onto the roost
Great build. I love how the coop turned out. What would estimate the total cost was to build this was?
I would say roughly $600
Do you know of any areas that price could be lowered through a change of materials?
I want to see the wheels where are they going
I might actually upgrade to a different set of wheels. These work okay, but I think a legit set of chicken tractor wheels might be better.
Can I buy from you? How can I contact you. Thanks!
Is all the wood pressure treated?
Everything that is exposed to the weather / in contact with the ground is pressure treated. The interior framing of the coop is not pressure treated.
Do you have written plans for sale?
Hey I’ll be posting them for free, hopefully next weekend. 🤞🤞
Where can I buy the vinyl?
I got this at Ollie’s, but there are a lot of places that sell remnant flooring
What is that length and width of that coop
I will be working on the plans tomorrow. Hoping to get them posted by tomorrow night 👍
How big is your coop? How many chickens?
This coop would be great for 3 chickens, maybe 4 if they were able to free range a little bit during the day. The main coop section is roughly 3’x3’ plus the nesting box portion.
Lmbo two hair cut and two beards
😂. Crazily, Im pretty sure it’s true!
I enjoyed most of your build... lots of thought went into this... the only negative I have is watching you use a table saw.... i would review safety for the tablesaw... here is a fantastic link to get started with... czcams.com/video/LLvXrmLLvKs/video.html (if allowed) I love you deterimination to build a superior chicken tractor... I came away with some really good ideals from this video... thanks for sharing and remember satety first

About how much did this cost?
Hey, I built it last summer when lumber prices were still very high (I think they’ve come down since then). I would say you would be lookin at about $550 today. Door hardware alone was about $100 of that. Chicken wire about 60. 2 sheets of t1-11 at $40 each. About 40 for screws. And on and on. It adds up quickly 🫤
Cant read the dimensions on the document. Its all blurry
Hmm. On a phone, iPad , or computer?
@E Fleming s23 ultra , ill check my laptop when i get home 👍
Aaaaah yes. clear as crystal on my laptop. Gonna print these out. Thanks man!
How is Jack doing
I know quite a few Jack’s, but as far as I know they are all doing well.
Just don't get the plastic push stick. Mine broke in half and I lost the tip of my finger.
😯 I’m sorry to hear that!
It’s not the Taj Mahal It’s a chicken coop.
ARE YOU A CARPENTER BY TRADE..?
No, I’m a Spanish teacher
I see you got a buzz cut I guess to make sure you got it finished
😂
