I can never figure out how these women can smile while they sing like this!! they have to have to have such amazing control over their voice to be able to make it “flicker” like that, and to have a smile the whole time!

So effortless. I bet Tibetan throat singers almost have a perfect technique. They sound very resonant and easy even at their upper notes. This girl and another popular Tibetan throat girl I just saw are very very good, they just breathe notes like they are nothing.

I love the Tibetan music and especially this vocal technique. It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it!
Is there someone who has information about this type of throat singing and how it was spread around the world, what is its origin? It is very specific and I have heard a similar sound in Bulgarian folklore - for example the song "Oi Yano, Yano" (Nadka Karadjova)
I understand that this is eastern type of singing and it is not so widely spread in Europe and I am really curious which are the other places in the world where it can be heard?

Very interesting, i checked out the Bulgarian song you mentioned. It's very beautiful too, thank you. I am also curious about the origin of this vocal technique.

there is a type of Mongolian singing called urtyn duu or long song which is the same as this, there was a lot cultural interaction between Tibet and Mongolia so I imagine there is a shared history there. The Mongolian singer Norovbanzad has lots of music in this style
