This is the breakdown I’ve been waiting for, instead of just saying combat lock is shit, break it down as to why and what the real issues actually are👍👍
Sounds like it's BLB and Headhunter, really. The swap to regulus abuses the DHC and BLB synergy without Headhunter. That would be affected. But stacking multipliers (exponential scaling) is powerful, yo. The more or them they add, the more opportunities like this exist to stack and the greater the upper end of what is possibe to "break the game" (see Diablo4).
There's too many problems in the game to be combat locking gear. As a solo player, I get problems fairly often. Like a medic with a support station INSIDE a spawn closet with the door closed. Only way to progress the mission is to use an oxidizer to kill him through the wall. I can't do that with an all red Hunters Fury build. I need to switch to a skill build long enough to get the hidden NPC. Or, another that happens daily, I stay in combat all the way through a mission because a random NPC in some alley somewhere outside the mission area is standing there shooting at a wall because they don't need line of sight to shoot at me. They only need to be a certain distance away. That means I'm stuck with whatever gear I start the mission with. No changes between legs. So, they need a timer on the spawn closets. 5 seconds after the spawn door closes, auto kill everything inside. Then they need to remove the X-Ray vision from NPCs passing by the outside of a mission area. No line of sight, no combat. They'll never fix any of this. They'll keep doing their half assed bandaids until TD3.
TOTALLY AGREE!!! This is a TERRIBLE change for PVE (and even PVP in many cases, as this implementation is not well thought-out). Even if the concept of not changing, say, your armor while "in combat" seems to make some sort of sense--in practice it does NOT! The game FREQUENTLY says you are "in combat" when nothing is going on around you and you clearly are not, thus preventing you from changing your loadout. Now that problem is going to extend to changing individual items? AAARGH! NO! Just NO
Well said mate. just to add a point , Devs saying players should be ready for situations and tactical nature of the game sounds so ridiculous when you have an open world with no way of predicting which faction you are gonna encounter, what type of enemies there are in it, Rogue agents spawning out of nowhere and a freaking quad drone in the sky. I'm gonna play devil's advocate here, let's agree that devs are not happy with how hotswap makes some content easier than intended and they can not fix the issue with the resources they have. all good, then assign the bloody combat lock only to certain missions (incursion, raids) and let it be normal for open world, countdown, normal missions, ... there are so many ways they could approach this issue, and they chose the worst imo
One thing I hate about the way busy bee currently works is using it with the chem launcher(foam) and in sync talent. If you shoot busy bee, pull out chem launcher to foam and then swap to your weapon with in sync, you lose the BLB buff. It counts pulling out the chem launcher as swapping weapons preventing you from stacking BLB and in sync buffs. Fire and oxi chem launcher types work fine since they are DOT but you need to shoot the chem first, then swap to BLB, then swap to in sync weapon. Just sucks that stacking them won't work with foam since it has the most utility imo and is also just my favorite.
Aimed skills (like chem launcher) have interactions like this where they are treated as a ghetto "weapon swap" for talent purposes. I'm not sure the dev team is aware of many or most of them (and the degenerate interaction of your held weapon talent impacting the chem launcher ala chatterbox speed buff or glory daze stability). My personal least favorite one is the hotshot stacked buff dropping if you aim a decoy instead of fast deploy (same is true for chems or a hive/turret etc). Happens way more than trying to get them most out of your BLB stacks. BLB seems to exist as a meta game to try to game the MEGA buff, because it really has no point otherwise.
I'm starting to wonder if the combat lock is a result of new crafting features added to the inventory and the amount of load they would put on the game during combat and resulting crashes. (I mean it's not like the devs are really being forthwith about it.) :/
Was talking a lot of speed runners yesterday. I only found 2 teams that Hotswap to Reggy, Pyro was going to send me a clip. Most teams are just using White Death.
this just seems like a giant waste of resources and time. WAy more important stuff to focus on. years later all of a sudden combat lock has to be a thing.
It seems like less work to rework busy little bee than to turn off hot swapping. If they want the game to be a survival shooter than I can understand hot swapping but this isn't a survival shooter it's a looter shooter RPG.
I don't think gear swapping was ever intended (hence why you can't swap loadouts during combat) and this was yet another oversight from Massive. It is unfortunate that years on, they decided to "fix" this and whilst I personally think Weapons and Skills should be left out of this gear lock, I do understand that changing you armour in combat is not something that was ever intended. This isn't just in D2. Lots of games do not allow amour changes during combat. In regards to using Oxidizers when enemies are stuck or swapping to tank gear when the tank has a DELTA error, I expect Massive fix those issues so the players do not have to deal with that crap anymore.
to be honest all that coordination for triggering buffs and stuff...that's just skill and the team earned that slam dunk. they claimed that the gear lock was to stop people from exploiting perfectly efficient or some such nonsense.
Welp this game has one last chance the same as this company because the division 3 won’t be out for awhile, heartland isn’t something everyone will enjoy let alone play and the new mobile game isn’t something everyone will or can play. 2024 is already about to be kicking off with a plethora of games I planned on buying which are all far more enjoyable then there are the rest that haven’t even been 100% announced yet but are expected to still release this year then the other portion that has been announced and scheduled for this year but just no solid date revealed. 2025… we all know the largest game title that’s expected to sell billions in less than 24 hours and outsell their previous largest selling game Ubisoft and massive will be dust soon.
I like the current implementation and its logic. It’s one thing to have a large skill gap. It’s another thing to have a small subset of players taking advantage of an unintended mechanic. If they want to close the loop hole I think that’s good. To me when you start thinking in terms of meeting certain conditions with a gear set and weapon but then I’ll change one weapon out and swap this mask for this mask in the middle of combat you are not necessarily exploiting but you kinda are and you are def taking advantage of unintended mechanics that might put you at an advantage over someone functioning in what they thought was the game mechanics. Maybe they are a better shooter or slightly faster but they don’t even think the game will allow a talent to work if swapped in combat or they just think that completely breaks the immersion of a gunfight. / in other words. Of course they intended us to use our primary secondary and side arm in combat. That’s why they are there. That makes sense. The game is balanced that way. It’s too much to ask them to balance for switching in combat. Just my opinion.
the game has alot of bugs since release and alot of them are still not fixed because they dont know how to fix them! no money to pay people who maybe could fix stuff within a messed up spaghetti code, ofc they go the easy route. thats what they are doing for years so why would all of a sudden change anything now?! the game is done, leave it like it is (like they did with div 1) and let the people play the game how they want to play it. this is not like destiny where you have atleast some kind of meta shake up,changes, nerf and buff patches, division has absolutely 0 content so they should either let people have fun or just close the servers, they will never fix this mess.
Fixing the revive hive took 2yrs lol Before it was 50/50 if it would work The worrying thing is if a mini tank/dog or npc get stuck behind a closed door . Normally you would swap to oxidiser or emp pulse but with gear lock its a dead run
You keep using the word “fix”. I think people forget this game is on a budget. Fix = money. There is a set amount of funds and time to do whatever it is the devs bring forward for new content but never extra to fix any potential problems the 1 percent of the 1 percent figure out along the way. For a game of this scope it’s impossible to cover everything. That probably alone would require a team of in itself which again cost money. Rather than trying to fix a deep rooted issue it’s probably just way more cost effective to disable certain mechanics.
That's your opinion. And if you don't like it, quit speed running the game. Simple, just like you tell others, don't like it QUIT. Otherwise, stop bitching about it.

Hi Dod why dont you try to convince them to implement this as a directive ? Let us play it the diplomatic way
On William's we stack busy little bee, pull out a foam to charge DCH, put the foam away then hot swap to Regulus for the oneshot 👍
Was talking a lot of speed runners yesterday.

Question: Which M700 are you talking about?? You have said that they are gonna be very powerful but all of them? 😅 Take care.
You are a Legend! 😊

I swear tho since the day the busy little bee came out it just has been an issue

It seems like less work to rework busy little bee than to turn off hot swapping. If they want the game to be a survival shooter than I can understand hot swapping but this isn't a survival shooter it's a looter shooter RPG.
if that's the reason for the gear lock they could really easily just make it raid only.

No because you are out of combat between areas by level design
And swapping gear is a real world combat mechanic - so why not in game
@@davestationuk7374 Sorry Dave, I don't know what you are talking about. I didn't mention anything about out of combat.
Lightweight m4 💪
to be honest all that coordination for triggering buffs and stuff...that's just skill and the team earned that slam dunk. they claimed that the gear lock was to stop people from exploiting perfectly efficient or some such nonsense.
They put a timer on perfectly efficient though and stopped that didn’t they?
@@Swampdonkey796 I think you're thinking about unbreakable...efficient is tied to repair kits so it's on that timer.
Yay, I made it into a video
