    Hi Ellen - thanks for another masterpiece in teaching methods. I was wondering this is also applicable for a Twisted Rib 1x1 in the round? I have 350 stitches to bind off in a hem and it looks slightly daunting. How do I manipulate such a long needle thread when pulling through? Many thanks.
    PS. I will be attaching links for all your videos I used in My Ravelry project page.

      @thechillydog  Před 3 lety

      I have never tried it, but I can't think of a reason why this bind off wouldn't work for a twisted rib. As far as using a sewn bind off around so many stitches...I don't know of any trick that will make it easier to manage the long yarn tail except going slow and being very patient. It's not a race and you can do it!

  • @raelynarnold2319
    @raelynarnold2319 Před 6 měsíci

    Your yarn needle is different than any other needle I’ve ever seen before. What brand is it? I’m surprised the yarn doesn’t snag on it.

  • @annettestephens534
    @annettestephens534 Před 3 lety +1

    just curious why you have this video and tubular bind off in the round when they are the same bind off?

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  Před 3 lety +4

      Good question. Most of my videos are created to support specific patterns in my design collection. It's not uncommon for the same skill to be used in multiple patterns. However, even though I may be teaching a skill that I've taught in the past, I try to explain it in a different way so knitters who may be searching for help with a technique (even if they aren't knitting one of my patterns) can hopefully find the explanation that makes the most sense to them. We all learn and understand things in different ways.

    Can you please advise whether this is the same as the tubular bind-off in the round.

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  Před 2 lety +1

      Pretty much. Sometimes for a tubular bind off, especially if you're knitting stockinette stitch, you work a couple extra rows/rounds in 1x1 rib before you bind off, but for this project I was already knitting a 1x1 rib.

    • @Matilda52
      @Matilda52 Před 2 lety +1

      @@thechillydog Thanks. Can you explain why you would work a couple of extra rounds in rib first?

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  Před 2 lety +1

      @@Matilda52 The tubular BO makes it look like your sts flow from the RS, over the edge and continue on the WS as if they were a continuous column. To create that look you have to have stitches that look like knits on both the RS and WS of the fabric. That's not the case with plain stockinette, it looks like knits on the RS and purls on the WS. I hope that makes sense.

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  Před 3 lety

      Hi. I've only used it on 1x1 rib. I think there is a modified way to do it on a 2x2 rib, but I'm pretty sure it won't work neatly for 2x1.
