    This is awesome!! Thanks Ace!!! For anyone who is a novice like me, I wrote out his instructions:
    1. Lock windows
    2. Determine if draft is coming between window and fixture. If so, measure film to cover against outside of window on wall vs inside the fixture
    3. Make sure film size will fit inside the window & where it will be sealed
    4. Clean taping area with window cleaner
    5. Picture frame double sided tape along window frame area to cover for entire border of the window
    6. Remove double sided tape film
    7. Line up plastic to window, sealing top corner, bottom corner so plastic stays in tact while finishing to cover the the entire window. If plastic sticks to tape in wrong areas, it can be removed as long as you didn’t press to seal it in that spot.
    8. Make sure the plastic is taut but doesn’t have to be super tight as hair dryer will do that. Press down on plastic onto tape all around the window frame.
    9. Hair dryer setting on low, warm, not hot. Start in one corner and have hair dryer 6”-8” from plastic. Dry window down one side & up to adhere plastic where it will be tight on window, until it’s clear. Be sure to press the double sided tape firmly before and after application and move the blow-dryer down as if your drawing a slant.
    10. Cut off any remaining plastic around window.

    Ty . Q: do I put the tape on the Window Glas Frame or on the Window Trim? I bought Duck brand window kit. My windows arent flat but the lower window that you push up sticks out from the top window and have 4 individual glass panes.* I put the tape on the trim in case the plastic shrank too much and the plastic film is too far away that it isnt sticking to the glass window any! :( The instructions on the box didnt make it clear where to put the tape. Should I have put the tape on the actual Glass?* Also the tape did Not Stick enuf as its around minus 3 degrees here I'll have to redo it :(

    • @AceHardware
      @AceHardware  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi There,
      We recommend you stick it to the trim but that may not work because it’s incredibly cold. Try heating up the trim with a hair dryer first then stick the tape on it. Hope this helps!

      Hi Nathan,
      When installed properly it will keep the cold air from seeping into your home if the window is drafty. You may also want to look at the caulk around the window to seal up any gaps or cracks.

    What about ventilation and condensation then mold growing?

    • @AceHardware
      @AceHardware  Před rokem +7

      Hi Dave,
      The downside of plastic window films are that they work and you cannot open the window. The reason you install them is the old windows are drafty, you so get some circulation of air in the new sealed up area, just not into your home. Meaning that no mildew or mold should grow in between the window and plastic as some fresh air is flowing into that space. Hope this helps!
