I have a hobby of making candles (did a business once but was too much) here's some tips... use popsicle sticks for stirring..WAY easier to just stir and throw it away when you're finished. Make sure to measure your scent for the amount of wax so that you'll get enough of a scent that you want in the candle, also if you dont it could discolor your candle and not mix properly. Coconut wax is "clean" but the soy will give you the best scent throw. They have stickers to put on th ebottom of the wicks to keep them in place and also wick holders for the top of the jar. Last tip... HAVE FUN but dont expect to be good at it right away (like me) because there's more of a science to it than you may think lol!
PLEASE READ! talk to your vet/research essential oils. Many are toxic to dogs. Because of their heightened sense of smell, using them can be very dangerous. ❤

Alex not starting any drama I know I’m as guilty as the next person who does make up but have you thought about maybe your brushes need to be clean more often to help with the acne! Because I noticed I hadn’t washed my foundation brush in like I don’t even want to say how long, but I had acne that started or should I say pimples and I had never had an issue with that ever in my life. I guess I’m lucky for that but I noticed I got like three in one day And then I went to put my make up on again after I had took care of them and the next morning I woke up with a new one, so I was like what is going on! So I cleaned my brushes and since then I’ve had no issues I clean my brushes at least once a week, sometimes I stretch it to two weeks, but mainly weekly! It’s just a suggestion! Don’t come for me people I was just making a suggestion!❤

Oooof, as a candle maker this hurt my sole to the core…! Keep in mind and tips for the future
- there are not only different wick company’s but different wick sizes. Will differ depending on size of jar, fragrance load, and wax. Anything changes of the 3, will have to retest. (Different fragrance)
- different waxes have different fragrance loads (soy, paraffin, coconut, etc.) too much is a serious fire hazard!
- do not reuse jars… if used in a candle previously, the integrity of the jar is compromised due to the heat that you can’t see
- more fragrance does NOT mean stronger scent.
- each different size container will have a different formula of wax/wick/fragrance calculations
- candles take on average 2 weeks to “cure” to get the full effect!
- sink holes are normal for soy candles
- essential oils be careful as a lot are flammable! (Too much essential oil added will increase the probability of candle explosions.)

TIP FOR CANDLES! Be careful with the amount of oil in each candle. Each oil has a burning point and can catch on fire. So the ratios are important for that reason. Love that you are trying new things!
If you feel like your skin is not absorbing your serums it may just be that you need to exfoliate the dry dead skin! If you have too many layers of dead skin cells on the top, serums and moisturizers can only go so deep, they're really not getting into the actual internal skin. Try a gentle manual exfoliant 2X a week. ❤
I started making candles last year, too. It can be fun, but there's a learning curve for sure. TIPS: If you want your candles to burn evenly in your larger vessels, use 2-3 evenly spaced wicks. I would've even put 2 wicks in the smaller "nubby" vase that you did first. Also, make sure you are using heat safe vessels. Best bet is to re-use old candle jars. Even with the hiccups, it definitely pays for itself over and over and you can get really creative with it.

***Note to self…NEVER try making candles! 😂
Tempered glass is safest to make candles with and there is a max amount of scent you can add, add too much and your candle can catch fire big time.
I’ve become a travel size perfume girlie. I used to get the full size but I would get bored with the scent before using them up. Now I’ve started buying travel size ones and it gives me more freedom to try more and I can always repurchase!

Hit up some thrift stores and find some old candles in their jars. Put them in the freezer for a while, and the old candle should pop out. Wash the container after to get the old scent out and you will have an affordable, candle safe jar.
Ohhhhhh that wax disaster! Poor girl - I feel your pain. I've had similar experiences. You handled it like a Queen!!!!! I would have been SCREAMING, CUSSING & BANGING THINGS AROUND to work off some of the frustration.
I have never seen your back deck & yard before - what a beautiful a spot you have - all those trees are a much better view than a neighbors back yard (which is what most people have to look at - me included). It must be delightful to sit out there with your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening (or vice versa - I don't judge. LOL). Just beautiful.

For any kind of crafts like that I use the floor protector from IKEA, it’s mostly used under desks to protect the floor from the desk chair but it works so well for anything where you want to protect your floor or just make it easy to clean.
I would be super careful with using vases and things for the candles because the glass could crack with that much heat.

If your floor is still funky, use a hair dryer and a scraper. The thin vase might crack, don't burn for too long or leave unattended(Its probably fine, worse case it breaks.)

Maybe it would be a good idea just to reuse your favorite candle jars, that way you know they're safe to burn. Canning jars should be fine to use too....they're made to be boiled!

Last weekend my 8 year old daughter spilled *R*E*D* nail polish ....I had tried coconut oil then used remover then quickly polished it w/ floor shine.

My tip would be to add more wicks for extra throw. Maybe on the small one, but the big candle would burn better with 3 wicks.
Being a clumsy candle girl, I've ruined so much stuff with wax. Thank god it wasn't colored.

Something that may be a easier first place to start is making wax melts! I was thinking of starting this in the new year too. They have little silicone molds of cute little shapes and you can make a bunch and use in a wax warmer!
Def understand you about the makeup. I hardly ever wear it anymore but today I NEEDED A FACE ON to feel better. Maybe cuz I havent had my meds in days ha but we will prevail lol with or without our face on lol

On bigger candles use 2 or 3 wicks or else you’ll get tunneling and not a good clean even burn throughout.

Always read the reviews for candle wicks. Some of them are really sooty and will set off smoke alarms.
use tape to hold up the wick until it's hardened. Also, I'm so sorry about the mess. You did good, girl and you still look haute!

U can try laying down some news paper like a few layers and then iron on top of the paper and it’ll soak up the wax.
You're better than me. I'd been mad and crying and maybe try again in 2 months. I was on a finding a hobby kick and 2 things I really enjoyed was making bath bubble bars and also making lipstick and lipgloss. I feel you would enjoy the lipstick making and you have a burner already so that's good.
If someone mentioned this I am sorry for the repeat. Topping off a candle after the initial pour is what gives the smooth finish. You mentioned that you didn't like how the top looked. I would look into that process cause I heard about it but I don't know how much time after the first pour you do that and how much wax you top it off with---looked like maybe 1/4 inch of wax? I looked into making candles years ago and learned about that. Never made candles because we got grandkids and I stopped burning candles until they get older. I love that you are doing this! Maybe you can start to do it in the basement and put the wax melter unit on a cart that you don't care about and a silicone mat on the floor so anything that spills will dry and peel right off? But I say KEEP GOING!
Alex, have you ever thought all the makeup you wear is what's causing your skin to break out. You also try so many different products which are horrible for your skin. I would also look into only wearing natural makeup products. Makeup has so many bad chemicals and they can really irritate the skin. I hope you have a beautiful day. ❤

This took me right back to a time about 10yesrs ago when I had hard wood floors and had a candle burning for about two hours and I dropped it 😮it crashed and splattered all over the hard wood floors and It was apple something so the wax wa red! I remember standing like there what am I gonna do where do I start ? It was all over my favorite hutch in my entryway ..but I googled and figured it out and took alot of time to clean it like you did. I remember it was a couple day thing. Because i would miss stuff or discover the other places it had splattered to! So glad you didn’t give up and kept on going. Hope they are some fantastic candles when u burn them.

You need a scale also u wanna make sure your oils are pet safe ! U have to use alot of oils for your candles to smell strong
