- Sister André, the world’s oldest person, has died. She was born Lucille Randon in Southern France on February 11, 1904, and became known as Sister Andre upon taking religious vows in 1944. She experienced 2 World Wars, watching her older brother go off to fight and taking care of widows and orphans during WWII. The Catholic nun is said to have enjoyed a glass of wine and a bit of chocolate daily. Sister André was 118 years old.
Crazy that she lived long enough to be in her teens twice. Rest in peace.

My great great grandmother was born in 1911 and still lives, she will be 112 in February, outlived 4 monarchs, World War I and World War II,she outlived her 2 daughters, both died of old age in 2019 at 90 and the other at 89(her third daughter, my great grandmother is still living at 88)lived to see 10 Popes in her lifetime, lived to see 20 US presidents, born when Taft was in office, she had 4 siblings and they all passed away, her last sibling passed away in 2012 at 96 and her husband(my great great grandpa) died in 2001 at 93. She has been through so much.

Truly amazing Sister! She was born 10 months before my grandmother whom I lost 21 years ago. Crazy to think she almost made it to 119. It's crazy to think of all the changes and advancements she saw in her lifetime. She truly sounds like she fought the good fight and lived a good life. RIP Sister

@@cthis4786 Yes she did! Truly amazing... My grandmother passed away a month before she would have turned 97. So hard to believe she was born the same year. She's been gone 21 years now still seems surreal as I had just turned 18....I know they saw some amazing things in their lifetimes!

Wow 17 years before I was born, Mind blowing.
Basically she lived until this year and turned and has been over 100 since I was in 11th grade in 2005. That is pretty insane.
