I sometimes come across certain news or posts (mostly from western media outlets) that say things like "Italy's economy is a mess" or "Italy's technology is in the stone age" or "Italy struggles being one of the last cash-countries in Europe" and I can't help but roll my eyes... I have been to Italy a few times and let me tell you something... Italians have figured out life! They live at their own pace, they breathe in the beauty around them, the enjoy good, healthy food and in the night, they socialize over a glass of fine wine. Why would you so desperately need to chase the "technology" when your way of life is nothing short of magical. Now I know that, hardship and struggles exist in Italy as well, as they do in every country on the planet, somehow, Italian people know how to enjoy life more and I truly believe that they are genuinely much happier that the people living in these "high-end, developed" countries... I just discovered Gino's Italian Escape--- what a gem! It's a wow!! It's as if I'm there traveling throughout Italy and those recipes Gino so beautifully explains as he's cooking them are just fantastic. I'm half Italian on my father's side; my grandmother was from Naples and my grandfather was from Bari. I just made the orricchie pasta with the red chili pepper, garlic, broccoli! Oh my, It was delicious! I have already watched Season 1 2xs. Now on 2; Thank you so much Gino for this high quality show and everything Italian. I smile a lot listening to you; brings me back to my Italian side of the family.

@@ladyday9999I've been to Italy 20 times yes there are definitely some rude Italians but my brother-in-law is spending his time with his son in Madrid Spain right nowand told my sister that the Spanish people are ruder than the Italians, and that kind of makes me think maybe I shouldn't be going to Spain next year which I did plan to go I think I'll just go to France and then Italy again next year

It's pretty special, and there are places where it's the smell of grapes, or olives, or oranges, or almonds, or tomatoes. Of course, there's one place that smells like garlic, buffalo, or squid, so it's not all roses. haha

This was so educational, I felt luke I was in Italy. I like particularly how he managed to capture the rich culture of each town and how authentic everything is. It also shows that people in the past used what they had to make a meal and its now the cherished delicacy of each town. Bravo 👏 👏 👏 👏
So inspiring ! One thing I would like to mention is the missed opportunity of cooking those zucchini flowers. I have seen chefs stuff them with fresh ricotta and then dip them in a light tempura like batter and then fry them. Since you picked them yourself they couldn’t be fresher and this is a way to use the entire piece you harvested. Maybe next time, just a suggestion.

When I lived in San Vito, there was a deep fried calzone called the “fritelli”. I think thats how it’s spelled. I’ve never had it again since moving back to the US. It was my favorite!
