  • Racing in a hosted race, then a lapped car thought it was a good idea to run with the front runners only to cause an accident. STANDARD!

    From what I can see, at 11:48 he's already loose and starting to spin. Looks like contact with the 62 car that actually started back in turn 4. He didn't move down on you or try to cut you off. He was about to wreck. You just finished the job. And as far as him being a lap down and running up there, that's just part of racing my friend. He's keeping pace with you. It's your job to find a way around him. Since he's able to run as fast as the leaders, he's under no obligation to just let you by. Is it the sporting thing to do? Yes. Is he an idiot for not letting you by? No. Hook up with another car and drive right by him on the outside. Or better yet, draft with him and work your way to the front. I'm glad I wasn't in this race. None of you can hold a line. I personally don't get the point of Carb Cup. There's no incentive to drive clean since it doesn't effect your ratings. I avoid it because of things like this.

      @dergrammarfuhrer1901 Před 7 lety +2

      That was what I thought, it's a courtesy to let faster cars through but if you're able to keep pace then you have a right to keep racing. Pretty much everyone involved could have done something to avoid this crash, but I would say it was just a racing accident, nobody really caused it but they all could have avoided it.

    I know it’s a very old video but this was your fault completely. You saw him swerving back and forth 4 times and yet you tried to get past him in a place where you had no room at all to go more left to avoid his swerving .. he is not at fault whatsoever. He’s just a bad driver or had problems steering his car with worn tires.

    The car in front had to lift cause they were bumping on exit of T4. You didn't lift in time while trying to draft. Also never lift, drag brake, then you lift you loose compression in engine at SS's. So never lift at a SS unless yellow. Other wise while drafting use brake to keep on bumper.

      I was thinking that too - that space he was moving into was only there in the first place because of the guy's mistake, as soon as he corrected it was always going to disappear. In fact, if OzSimRacing hadn't been there, chances are the guy would have overcorrected into the wall anyway - as it was, there was a convenient car-shaped barrier there to help him on his way... :D

    A lot of people seem to forget that the blue flag is advisory only. He does not have to get out of everyone's way. He held the right to run with the front runners if he can match pace, which he was, to get back on the lead lap. If he was significantly slower than the group, then yeah, he should have yielded. The wreck was a racing incident at best.
    If anything, your car was not in the ideal position to make a pass while the cars in front of you were literally unsettling each other. The best thing to do there was to back off just a tiny bit, enough to give them room just in case they do wreck. If they wreck, they wreck, and you gain two free positions.
    It was a pretty rubbish race with all the swerving and other non-sense going on anyways. Also, bump drafting into a corner, not a good idea.
    That's my opinion anyways.

    • @gideonrichter4977

      It's a racing sim. If you're playing these sims you're probably trying to get a realistic simulation of what it's like to actually race. Racers do that in real life, so people do it in games. There's no problem with doing it even if it doesn't do anything, and like I said said before if you cause incidents under caution or before going green you your iRacing fees are being wasted.

    • @JustinOhio

      Tire temperature. Warmer tires better grip. Most racing sims have that. Live for speed has like r1 tires 60 degrees r2 80 and ect. It actually applies, its not just cause they do that irl.

      No, not even. You can clearly see if oyu look to the left this guy held his line and then the white car came down. Look back at it and watch the yellow line, he is consistantly hugging it through that whole point meanwhile the white car is bobbing up and down, and regardless, a lap down car shouldn't even be there. It's illegal.

    • @tfivegames
      @tfivegames Před 8 lety +2

      It's not illegal. Lap cars are as much part of the race as the leaders are. It is an advisory and a courtesy to move over, not a requirement. Sometimes a lap car trying to give courtesy will actually cause a wreck.

    Could someone explain why the rpm gauge is rotated?

    • @KSparks80
      @KSparks80 Před 6 lety

      You normally turn the gauges so that when it's showing it's normal, good range, the pointer is pointing straight up. Do it to all of the gauges on the dash panel and it's easy to glance quickly at the whole panel without actually reading each gauge. All pointed up, you're good. We always did it that way, but I can't figure out what the hell he's doing with his tach. Now it's buggin' me! lol
      Edit: I played it again and watched the gauge. It might be that the wheel he uses blocks him from seeing the rev. limit, or whatever he wants to see, so he tilted it. Just guessing.

The only thing i saw that was standard was you sticking your nose inside where it didnt belong. The lap car has no obligation to move or give you any spot because your on the lead lap..

      Looked to me like the lapped car had run into the the car in front of him a couple times and lost control right before hitting the car we were riding with. If you look his rear end comes out and he is gonna shot down the track anyway. I don't think he stuck his nose in there, I think the lap car starting to slide lost speed and his nose ended up there next to him and he got taken out by the lapped car. I think he should have been ready to pass high with the way the lapped car was running into the guy in front of him, but I wouldn't say its this guys fault.

    • @ZBTEproductions

      @Seekay_ Před 7 lety +1

      Der Grammar Führer Unfortunately, way too many people don't understand that. I was doing Street Stock at Charlotte a few days ago, I was a few laps down because of an earlier wreck and was running with the leaders, never made any reckless moves... Then one lap, when we get to the back stretch the leader and #2 take the high side and I go all the way down to the yellow line, #2 has the momentum and dives under the leader to overtake him, slams into me and sends me spinning into the inside wall... And then he starts bitching to me about how "I shouldn't have put my car there" as if it was my fault even though there was an entire empty lane between them and me. What a fucking asshole. The respect between lapped cars and the leaders should go both ways.

    • @dergrammarfuhrer1901
      @dergrammarfuhrer1901 Před 7 lety

      +Seekay Yeah it's pretty ridiculous, most people don't know the rules. Tell them to read the sporting code if they have a problem, according to that it is the lapped car's responsibility to maintain a consistent line, and it's the faster car's responsibility to pass them safely, moving aside for faster cars (or cars that are a lap ahead) is only a courtesy, not a requirement, because there's times where yielding to them could just cause trouble for someone else.
