This is a testament to the extraordinary depth of her songwriting, featuring an excellent selection of some of her most highly acclaimed songs from her 15 year career. There are another 20 songs which could easily have been included. Many of these songs have previously been performed live in numerous different settings ranging from solo piano to symphony orchestra, and including a rock band. That the songs can be re-imagined in so many ways is a demonstration of just how good these songs are musically. (I cannot really comment on the lyrical content as my Japanese is limited and machine translations do not do them justice). Maiko-san is an extraordinarily talented singer-songwriter.
Believe me, the lyrics of her songs are beautiful. In some she tells happy love stories, in others about unrequited love, in others she gives encouragement and the desire to go on and never give up. In some of them she talks about quite simple and everyday topics, but she tells them in such a beautiful way that touches the heart. In others she talks about feeling discouraged and hopeless. She has such a variety of ways of telling stories in her songs that makes them beautiful.
@@hyerikalee6688 Thank you for your considerate reply. It is what I had assumed. There are some songs for which I do have good translations and they are great. Two of my favourites are Sotsugyo, which is has a lovely melody and is a wonderful lyric when translated into English, and Supermoon. I love the piano arrangement on Supermoon - I have the sheet music but I can't play it very well. I got someone to translate the lyrics and it's a beautiful song. There are other songs which when reading the English translation, it feels like something is missing; lost in translation. I was fortunate to see her perform live, just her and her piano.

Do you play the piano? How nice! Me too, but not very well. I have the sheet music for Hanabi, anata ga watashi no hoho ni fureru toki, kimi ga te wo nobasu saki ni, Kingyo sukui and kyouhansha. Good thing you were able to go see her live! I wish I could see her sing, but I live far away in Uruguay. Which songs do you feel like something is missing? I translated almost all of her albums, except Wasurerarenai hito, maybe I can help you. Sorry if my English sounds weird, my first language is Spanish.
