As 58 year old head banger since the late 70s Rush Zep Floyd Sabbath till i die. Tool is to me is next level There music pulls you in and bring you up and down but they never over do it . Hi from New Orleans Rock On
i agree they are a talented band that stands out...however, they do not have the soul of zeppelin....not sabbath, certainly not rush, or any other band for that matter....zeppelin is much more dynamic who take root in blues,,,and funk etc.
@@davidgreene7676 I think it must be a generational thing...and what age you started listening....I love the older classics...but they don't have the edginess and intensity for me...for example No Quarter...I love the original but it doesn't have the oomph Tool brings to their music...and the same goes for other songs..."having soul" is such a ambiguous statement..how can it possibly be measured.....to me emotion and genuine intensity is Soul....and Tool bring that to their instruments as good as anyone
Oh and don't be so stubborn with the pneuma live video! It'll blow your minds! It's insane Danny is amazing!
No one... NO ONE explodes like these guys. The most organic band I've ever heard, there is no equal. They are truly a genre onto themselves. TOOL never gets old. 🤘🤘👍👍
I like to refer to their latest album "Fear Inoculum" as heavy meditation music. It has a profound transcendental affect on me when I take the time to truly 'fall into' it. Their earlier releases pull me in, in other ways, but this last release is very spiritual for me.
@@bigbastard_lol Not really. Great music is an experience, if you let it in.
@@bigbastard_lol what a weird way to think about life, as if music and sound isn't key in our development as a species, and likely much more. I feel like your definitely a big bastard
The Fear Inoculum album is truly a spiritual journey. Like Lateralus was with some songs, but in Fear Inoculum it's THE spiritual journey.
Like the prog and hard rock bands that inspired them, Tool has greatly contributed to the enhanced quality of my life. They’re completely their own thing and haven’t diluted their catalogue with substandard art to appease a record label or attempt to stay relevant. Incredible band.
Now, the drum cam of Pneuma by Danny Carey
Haven't listened to much from this band, but I get serious Gentle Giant and King Crimson vibes. Good musical dynamics. The vocalist also reminds me of Gord Downey.
"The Patient" is a song that i listened much later, and fell in love. What a amazing mix of heavy and beautiful sounds, that nasty palm muting and the beautiful melodies sung by Maynard, so emotional. And "Pneuma" is their new masterpiece, the song is just pure perfection. It's a very acessible song and so mind-boggling when you see what Danny made there.
Have you ever seen O'Keefe Music Foundation's Tool covers? You might be amazed 😉
I love that you guys did the patient! This is foundational and so underrated . Not enough people react to this. It's a true masterpiece. You guys connected to the art! The spirit jives! What an experience for you guys! Thank youuu so much for this! It made my heart smile. Yes the ensure you go deep and connect with your heart and soul. Homeostasis. Centered. Good for you guys!
Im starting 2 look at all Tool songs, like short films now. Just the Greatest
The look at the camera after each mouthed drum example made me watch this twice. Great job guys, thanks for coming back. Looking forward to the drum cam. 🤘
I've only heard a little of Tool, mostly from their last album with yt reactors, and I was quite impressed. This 'Pneuma stuff' is pretty wild : )
Check out the Lost in Vegas reactions, those guys reacted to Pneuma back when Fear Inoculum was released, that will get you hyped
To me, TooL feels like the love child of Pink Floyd, Rush, and Led Zeppelin. Three of the greatest bands ever. 🤘🏼👍🏼❤️
Tool reels me in and sets me free all day long captivation and release just wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
The audio quality of the live performance is almost exactly like what you just listen to so enjoy when you do
Great reaction to an absolutely amazing band! Tool has been an inspiration in my life over the years in various ways..making me a better person and musician.
This was a nice little marathon. I love Tool for sure, been a long while since I heard these tracks. I love when you guys react together, don't get me wrong Nick does a great job on my requests, but their has been some request I would have loved to see Alexia's reaction and input. Loved it you two! Thanks to Eric for the request!
I was lucky enough to see them in concert once.
My favorite aspect of Pneuma is that the band is inspring everyone to embrace their creative spirit. To BECOME creativity. To recognize that you, as a human, are capable of creating. Just as a god can.
When I first discovered tool in the mid 90s I had no idea what to think about it because it was completely different than anything else it was being played on the radio at the time and back then I had no Real musical knowledge other than what my parents have taught me and my brother had taught me. But I knew there was something I liked about not following the formula so to speak. Then when I went into band in sixth grade I began to understand the true mystery of what their music was. And why I liked it was because of the different time signatures in the different key changes in unexpected things that they would do musical.ly I didn’t really know it at the time but it was really tool that open me up to progressive rock and metal.
Yes Nick and Lex, it's Maynard's voice that takes 'Tool' to another level of (dare I say) Metal music. It's definitely Thinking Man's Metal. The lyrics and the voice set 'Tool' apart from all the other contenders (read 'pretenders'). Love your videos, and I suggest you check out the 'Puscifer' catalog, as well, which is another Maynard project. @nicknlex
You just missed them touring, sadly. It was amazing!
I've been a hardcore TOOL fan since their beginning. I loved how they were so mysterious and rarely showed their faces. It wasn't until about '06 or '07 that I saw what they looked like. It was never about the fame, it has always been about the art. The music.
Hi guys, a good mate of mine was heavily into Tool and when he found out I hadn't heard their music he got me a few of their cd's a couple of years back. They are full of unexpected moments that just make many tracks special. Tool are not predictable and I love that. Great reaction thankyou. Byeee Jim X
55 year old life long fan of metal and rock.......Ive been a fan of TooL for almost 30 years, I grew up on Floyd and Zeppelin and then the Maiden and Dio and Priest and Sabbath.....and there is no doubt that TooL is the greatest band of all time for me, the lyrics, songs and stories have been a life Mantra nd guideline for me....if you're gonna do the Pneuma drum cam (which will melt your soul btw) and you wanna pair it up with another drum oriented and incredible TooL song....pair it up with 46&2, you have never heard them like this...Love you guys and miss you!!! Great reaction!!!
I can't wait for you to watch it either!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great choices for one sitting. Eighteen years apart but also very much connected lyrically and as a musical progression.
I will never forget the show I went to at Blossom it was a Lollapalooza show and it was Tool, Korn, Snoop Dogg and Orbital as I remember it, Tricky was an opening act and Devo performed that night also it was after all their hometown. The Tool show was incredible, MJK was covered in this blue latex it was a surreal night many many years ago. Just as AC/DC is their own style so is Tool, thaey stand in a class all their own.
The patient is something else..mybe my favorite riff OAT
They go hard, they go soft, they make you angry, they make you cry. Nobody else like Tool, IMO
The song invincible is imo the best on the new album but their all awesome👍the drum cam will blow your mind
I have both of those shirts!!! The Patient is so underated; it gets me every time.
I feel like Tool has a really primal sound that most people can enjoy
So glad you guys finally got back to Tool!! 😃
Great reaction once again, thank you :-) You should definitely check out the video where Tony Carey plays this song filmed by close-up drum cameras. It gives a whole new perspective to this song and especially what comes to drums 😀
hell yeah !!!
For sure the studio version has to be heard before the Danny Cam but the Danny Cam is an absolute must to watch
Amazing Drum cam of Danny Carey “pneuma” video. Thru Vic Firth drum sticks. Crazy good!
I can't believe I requested a song and it wasn't Tool. Great reaction as always guys, way to use your soapbox to spread true creative vision. CZcams is the new Napster it seems, and while it isn't quite the same, it is another great medium for finding new music from like minded individuals. Between Nick&Lex, Geebz, and Jim Newstead, I can always find music that I'm almost guaranteed to be drawn into. Yes, now you guys can watch the Vic Firth Drum cam video of Pneuma that came out last year. I can't wait. Peace!
All drums, no hand hit percussion on this but i assume you will watch live version shortly ? Lol
I think the word that best describes that feeling is "Visceral". It evokes something deep inside that is primal and then it's also Eviscerating, the music cuts right through you. And there is a sense of release by the time you get to the end. If you don't feel the word Eviscerating wait til you hear the opening of Push it. Then you will know what I mean. Enjoy.
Lateralus is my favorite album by far- however I love all reactions. Great job guys.
Spiral 🌀 Out
I don’t know if you guys have reacted to Danny and the drum cam to pneuma. However it’s completely amazing. Highly recommend
Every Tool song is a journey
One time I took 5 grams of mushrooms, turned the lights out and lit a candle, and listened to "Lateralus" in it's entirety...
I had a blast and such a wonderful experience. They took me on a journey that was inside me... I smiled, I cried, I geek'd out...
4SURE!!!!!! 1st time ever smoking DMT was listening 2 Lateralus & yea def will NEVER forget that.
"'Really Mike"' nobody cares about your experience unless you do something to make it stand out amongst the sea of experiences like yours. Bring something intelligent to add or just simply keep quiet.
Can't wait for you to climb Mount 7empest! You won't be disappointed.
'Descending' from Fear Inoculum is such an awesome song and as always has powerful lyrics for these times.Hope you check it out someday, right now it's my fave Tool song and I have been a Tool fan for a long time. And as for the drumcam, sometimes so many people watch a video because it's just that cool to watch, ha. I am glad I heard the song first to concentrate on it BEFORE watching the drum cam but now,as a nonmusician, I am glad I watched the drumcam to also see HOW Danny does what he does. It has merely enriched my experience of Tool. But I do usually prefer just the studio version because when I listen to Tool I really lose myself in the music.Porcupine Tree, however, is a band I love to watch live, ha, for some reason watching them perform adds to the song for me. I guess I just go deeper in my psyche to Tool.
Definitely keep going through all of the Puscifer catalog and maybe start on A Perfect Circle soon as well. 100% guarantee you will love all of it.
Tool and Red Rocks is amazing! So was A Perfect Circle.
The Patient is the 4th song about Maynard's mother that often gets overlooked. Just heard it live for the 1st time a couple months ago. Incredible!
Glad you did Pneuma album version 1st.
"Top Notch". All Tool songs are top notch
TOOL EPIC
Yeah, *pneuma* means “breath/spirit/wind.”
Be Careful: Lex - 'H' - on Aenema - is a place of descent: The Hologram - inside the fold.
So smart to do these two songs back to back.
Back in the day I never new what the band members looked like, but now I know and I want to know more. There all fascinating individuals, they are role models for our kids, this is what hard work will get you.
The Patient holds a special place for me. We’ll call it “my longest held TOOL favorite”. Descending is it now but this one (Patient) will always be special. It’s so frikking good.
Would love to see your reaction to H. I think it's one of their most underrated songs
Yaaaasssss. what a combo.
It's hard to overstate the importance of hearing the music for the 1st time WITHOUT the lyrics in your face! The 2nd listen is fine but if you listen to it organically 1st, like you all do, you'll get more from the whole experience...Just my opinion.
It's about time!
I guess over 20 years of listening I still do the same thing.... Music 1st) lyrics later
I enjoy your channel. You guys have great energy for all types of music. Especially when you play Rush. Tool is like Rush. Very heavy and constant rhythm beats. Both great bands. I wish you great success and I hope you guys go very far in your music channel.👍many 👏
How kind of you; thank you! We love them both and can’t wait for more every time we react to them! Love and welcome, Lex ❤️
So glad you guys are doing what I did for 3 years listening to aenima, undertow & opiate except I didn't know lyrics till internet
I can relate, never liked the feeling bass would give me at a concert. And two, I've been saying for the last 12 years that they need to return to Red Rocks. Tickets would have to be like $1500 a piece before scalpers
Thanks Eric!!!👍
And the thing is when you two get to the Danny cam version of this song, keep in mind Danny Carrie was in his 50s when he played that song live. I wish I could play that good when I'm in my 50s LOL. The Danny Campbell blow your mind just to see the talent that He has and the whole band.
Pneuma is not *all* about Danny Carey, but man, I have to go watch that drumcam again now. I tell you what, though. It is probably best that you listened to it first though, because there really is so much more than drums. They're all so damn good, and the composition is brilliant. Also, I am really not a metal fan either, but Tool is something else altogether.
Oh, @nicknlexrequest for Puscifer ...Anything is great, really, but 'Potions,' 'Man Overborad,' 'The Remedy,' The Humbling River,' "horizons' ...I could go on and on, and it's QUITE the Rabbit Hole to get into.
You guys do it right. Dig the vibe, then if it speaks to you, check the lyrics. Those who say they can take it all in first time are not being honest. You will love the drum cam, it’s so well recorded and you will get a new appreciation for what’s being poayed.😃✌️
Definitely check out the pneuma drum cam video
This music penetrates
Pneuma is their magnum opus
Its guitar all the way for these guys
Peace friends
Los extrañé ;)
Wicked!
No bongo's in Pneuma. 😁
Pneuma what a pretty song
👍👍👍👍👍
Love your tool reactions. I have a love/hate relationship with this band. The love comes from the obvious. Unbelievable band who's deserving of being put into a genre all of their own. The Hate derives from the fact they make 95% of everything else sound sophomoric and hard to listen to. So unfortunately I only watch when your featuring tool and a selected few other bands.
Same fate here dude! They ruined 90% of other music for me, so I listen to 70's shit a lot, like Sabbath, Zepp, The Who, ...
pneuma live Danny Cary drum cam it best video 👍
Is it true that Al Jourgensen of Ministry blind-dosed Maynard and another member of Tool with LSD? I guess they’re my favorite metal band because I hear a psychedelic and alternative, progressive sound with the metal. Are they even considered metal by metal purists? Idk. But either way, I’m happy to hear them again. Thanks, Eric. And great reaction NnL! ✨🤪
Maybe it’s the PACE and the SPACE (silence) in their music that makes it intriguing to me. And Maynard, of course. And the random percussion that calls attention to the moment and accents the silence. ✨☺️
Tool is its own genre?
The drum cam Danny oof playing Pneuma it's just ridiculous and y'all will find out why uus fans call him the octopus. But I have a Ukrainian progressive metal band for ya to check out. Jinjer is a bit heavier than Tool at times but they also infuse things like jazz, blues, reggae, and punk Rock into their songs seamlessly. The traditional starting point for Jinjer goes Pisces live session from napalm records but another acceptable one would be Wallflower from the latest album. Oh and one last thing is their vocalist Tatiana is a freaking beast and I mean that literally.
Adam ticks off time... ⏰
Nick the sound in Tools guitar sound is about amps ( 3 different ones).not pedals!!
While TθθL does fit into the genre of progressive metal, I believe that generations from now it will be studied as its own genre just as Quentin Tarantino and Wes Anderson films, etc.
React to the danney drumming man🤘🏻
🐙 🐐 🌀🤘🏻
Pneuma Drum Camera
Pneuma is Greek for soul
No keyboards. That's a foot pedal.
It's not keyboard or synth... It's always Adam.
CEREBRAL?
How about Heavy Progressive as a genre? I feel like Tool is more heavy metal and than Led Zeppelin but I dislike that term for either band. I am like Lex in that I don't really like heavy metal... in fact I kind of dislike most of it. I couldn't wait until Fear Inoculum and then was kind of disappointed in it. Other than their earlier music and maybe the Pot, I haven't liked anything immediately. And for me its not the amount of times I hear it, it is a mix of time that has passed as well. For me, now, Fear Inoculum is a masterpiece, and is as good as anything they have done, and I definitely wouldn't have said that when I first heard it. I love the albums in the background... all influenced Tool: Zeppelin, Yes, King Crimson. Common denominator? Ultra-talented and smart.

Thanks Nick and Lex! I loved watching react to these songs! Both of these songs are two of my favorites in the entire catalog. I think the patient sometimes gets lost on the lateralus album because it just has so many brilliant songs. As i have said many times before , thanks for having this channel and for being you and always being genuine! Im glad these songs made you feel something! I know Tool’s music has help me in so many ways! Its cool that music can have that profound of an affect on people! I sincerely love you both! Keep being the wonderful kind people you are🤟🏻
They should have started with the lead in song, Eon Blue Apocalypse.
