    SMALL UPDATE - apparently the APP version of the bolt list gets Heavy Bolters and Heavy Bolt Rifles - implies that they're probably intended to have it, so hopefully that can be fixed along with the other erata updates when they get round to it...

    It's pretty insane to think that GW has created a game named after the DeathWatch (Kill Team), to use it as a way to release upgrade and new kits to existing units....
    But still didn't release ANYTHING for the Deathwatch itself.

      @@adamstephens5964 Yes, but I'm talking simply do what they keep doing for many others: release an upgrade kit.
      The real problem of the primaris Deathwatch is that they aren't doing what they should do: Use some cool special gear that only they have access to.
      Give them the special bolters, heavy bolters, the shield, the xenoblades etc etc.
      Also making a primaris vesion of the pretty awful watchmaster would be cool too.

    its also quite fluffy to take cheap Agents of the Imperium units with Deathwatch as that's kind of how they work, typically they are a Watch Master working with an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor and their other forces to defend an important human settlement...plus I feel much less bad tossing a navy breecher squad to the fire than scouts with centuries of war ahead of them.

    My first army is Deathwatch, felt the pain in 8th and 9th, got excited for not being garbage tier in 10th to just get nerfed before I got to play using it... And the point costs of kill teams are clearly intended to only be used for 2k points or more as if you take a kill team at 1k points it is more than half your points.... Sadly in my area most tournaments are run as 1k points so I haven't really gotten to field them since 10th dropped.... Investing more than half your points into one unit is terrible design as it makes akpha strikes even more devastating than usual.

Turns out I was right w that player going 5-0, just tried it against my teammate the other night and decimated!
    I do still think that Blackspear is strong with teleporting and lethals/sustained army wide, ntm our cyclone termies, frags and heavy TH’s, but not enough of us to put fair numbers of dubs on the board and bring up the win percentage!

    I think GW needs to rethink the kill team tax to make the primaris kill teams viable. It's just ridiculous that the first five intercessors/heavy intercessors are 30 points more than their equivalent, and unlike the proteus kill team, those first five don't even then get the option to take more special weapons (except an extra heavy bolter for Indomitor, whoopee). Spectrus is more in line.

I've also found a great deal of success with 3 Sheild Terminators in my Proteus Kill Teams. Makes for ungodly degrees of durability. As has already been said, you can use it to reach out a pseudopod to snag an objective or get a shorter charge when needed. Last edition sometimes you'd have a bike and two jumpers in a Proteus and could really stretch em.

    With the Primaris release Deathwatch, to me, have lost so much about what made them unique.
    We should not have access to regular units. It should be kill teams only. Kill teams should also do away with the FB-Primaris split.
    Add fun rules, like adding FB gives “wisdom of the veterans”

    • @AshleyBlackwater
      @AshleyBlackwater Před 9 měsíci +1

      Deathwatch lost its soul due to the removal of points based army building.
      DW would need alot of work and need to be like how you build inquisitorial henchmen to be anything like it used to be. Which we probably won't get because gW don't care about DW enouth to put that work in.
      the FB primaris split is annoyingly core to making the current killteams work. You can run a primaris vet squad if you want and no one will care, but with how shit the normal primaris killteam is, its something we want GW to stay away from for risk of fucking it up.
      Same goes for if they release a primaris vets kid, high risk of them gutting the options and soul of the DW even more than they allready have...

    Noob question: If a weapon has [ignores cover] Do you roll the hit roll anyway to determine if it was a critical hit?

    • @theStamax
      @theStamax Před 9 měsíci

      Cover has nothing to do with the hit roll, so you roll either way. The only difference it makes is whether the opponent saving throw improves / your ap is reduced or not.

    • @dyciefisk2535
      @dyciefisk2535 Před 9 měsíci

      Cover doesn't affect hit rolls, all cover does is add +1 to the armour save of the recipiant (with the exception that cover can't improve a +3 roll to a +2 roll)
      When shooting:
      You roll to hit, and 6's are critical hits for anything that cares about it. (sustained hits, lethal hits, etc.)
      Then you roll to wound, with 6's being critical wounds for rules that care about it. (devastating wounds, etc.) The "Anti-X" keyword expands the critical wound range to the indicated value against targets with the designated keyword. (Anti-Infantry, Anti-Fly, etc.)
      Then opponents roll to save against the damage, applying cover if applicable.
      Then apply damage. Unlike in Age of Sigmar, damage in 40k does *not* spill over between models. This means if you hit a unit of infantry that has 1 wound each with 10 attack dealing 3 damage a piece, you will only kill 10 models. Not 30.
      Hope this helps.

    • @theStamax
      @theStamax Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@coJestMustangi No Torrent can't score critical hits, because there's not hit roll (so sustained and lethal hits don't work on torrent weapons).

    • @TheSniperGTO
      @TheSniperGTO Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@coJestMustangiTorrent weapons automatically hit. They always have a number of shots you roll for to see how many hits. For example, Infernus Marines are armed with a Pyreblaster, a type of flame thrower. It has D6 shots, ignores cover, and torrent. The torrent means you don’t roll to hit, you just roll for a number of shots. So you roll, and get a 5. That means it automatically hits 5 times. Since you don’t roll to hit, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a lethal hit.
      You do automatically 5 times though. Pyreblasters are strength 5, and we will pretend your enemy are Chaos Space Marines in cover. They have a toughness of 4 against your weapons strength of 5. So those 5 hits wound them on a 3. You roll a 1, 3, 4, 4, and 6. So you wound them 4 times.your weapon has no ap (Armor piercing to modify their armor save) so they have to roll a 3 or higher 4 times to make their save. Normally, cover gives you a +1 to your armor save, so instead of a 3, they would only have to roll a 2 or better. Your weapon has “ignores cover” though, so it stays at a 3 up. He rolls a 1, 2, 5, and 6. So he fails to saves. Your weapon does 1 damage, so you inflict 2 wounds, killing a Marine.
      In short, if you have a unit like Infernus Marines with Torrent weapons…don’t attach a leader who grants “Lethal Hits” as it will be wasted, since they don’t roll to hit. Find someone who grants “Devastating Wounds” as that could be useful.

I still don’t think that necron combo is busted and isnt as busted as eldar still are… see retarded shit like wraithguard and nightspinners and farseers if you need proof.
