It's a shame about Holden's injuries, he was a very talented player
I remember I would get excited when he would enter the pitch to bad he got injured
him and dempsey were my usa fav players in premier league back then
Joemax Abe he’s a bum what you on about
@rudy2fat I'm not American so that doesn't bother me, but I do wish Holden did more at club level, he was exciting to watch at Bolton when they were in the Premier League
The way Shaq and Chris looked at each other after Kenny's kick had me in stitches 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When he said “Soccer is expensive” he was referring to America. The youth players pay their own way for travelling and playing and stuff like that. In Europe, if you’re a youth player for a team they pay for everything for you so you just do your job which is to play football. Stuart Holden was a good player when he was in England, it was a shame he couldn’t shake off the injuries
U always pay to be in a club, if ur any good a pro club takes you in their acadamy and then everything is free. Sometimes u even get money before u sign ur first pro contract
best "soccer" players are from america too so don't create false narratives, they just come from the south side of the continent
@@ksndhopkirk7503 Europe disappeared and i didn't know?
@RM Art No one says 'America' to mean both the continents of North and South America. When used, it's almost exclusively for the nation. The only people who bring it up in the former context are pedants looking for a reason to baselessly mock someone.

most soccer legends came from being dirt poor and just having a passion for the sport and a grapefruit
@@bruh8559 the truth is, it's not that way in America. the athletes with those backgrounds play football or basketball and that's just how it is
Football (soccer) is the one of the cheapest sport to play. You need friends and one ball and you're all set.
That's why its the world most popular sport
Where can I buy some friends? :/
I'm guessing some clubs make kids pay to play on the team, or even for the kits (jerseys), and you need good cleats, it can get expensive.
He meant to play competitively in the states. To compete in front of scouts at club level, the costs get ridiculous year round. The development in the U.S isn't set up to have players succeed in High School and College through the MLS draft like other major sports. Not to mention the leagues focus on attracting outside talent (Beckham, pirlo, villa, Kaka) makes opportunities in the league scarce for a young player. If you're a young athlete, and know you can make so much more money and have it cost less to get there, why would anyone play soccer here in the states? That's why arguably the best player in US history (Landon Donovan) began playing in Germany, just like pulisic.
@@Randyy1
Well any sports can be expensive if you want to do it professionally. But as a kid to start playing football is pretty much the cheapest. I know because that's what everyone does in my country too. And that's why everybody plays it in South America or Europe or anywhere for that matter.
Kenny looks like a child kicking the ball hahahahahah
He's got bad knees
Wrong. Looks like a baby kicking the ball. One of the worst kicks, i have ever seen from a man (and it doesnt count, if you played soccer or not). Kenny, you never kicked a football?

Also, Stu Holden knows what he's talking about. In Europe, the youth clubs pay for the kids to play for them. In the US, the kids pay the club to allow them to play for them.
The reverse is true for other sports in the US. Basketball, football, and baseball development is primarily done through the high schools, mostly public high schools. That makes them considerably cheaper than playing club soccer.
Trust me, not just in USA
If some high schools in US take more seriously for the kids the practice of this sports, they could be now fighting for very good and talented youth players. Paying them a scolarship to study and play semi-profesional leagues, and then trying luck in the draft of each season. Many good players and people there who loves soccer would play in the best leagues and in somepoint, go jump in one european league to improve their career. But the basketball is the sports of US, thats no question about it, and me personally enjoy the NBA as I enjoy the soccer league here in Spain. Is totally diferrent, they surely like more this soccer league and honestly, I prefer that NBA basketball than FIBA. The competition is more savage and inspiring there. Each country have his own sports, wich is a very rich point in culture for the world. And yeah, thats it haha its my opinion, saludos.
Paul d'Ambrosio this also isn’t true
As someone for europe, this is partly true.Elite kids usually get place to live, and food if theyre not close to training grounds and some money to cover other living expenses. But not all of them.
The size difference between chuck an Shaq is crazy. Absolutely incredible he led the league in rebounds and was at the top in rebounding almost every year

"Soccer is expensive" All you need is a plastic bottle and 4 rocks. That's why is the most popular sport in the world
El Pichi that’s not the point. He’s talking about competitive leagues. It’s super expensive here, which sadly deters more kids from growing up with the sport. After a certain age if you want to take it more seriously and travel and whatnot, your parents gotta fork up a lot of money, otherwise you’re stuck just playing for fun and no real chance at higher success/going pro.

It’s not expensive to buy a ball and play in a park or empty lot in the U.S.
It IS expensive to play competitively and get proper training. Our youths have their development stalled at a young age, meaning kids get training because they’re wealthy, not because they’re good.
If we can find a way to support our ambitious, lower-income kids, we’ll see massive improvement.

All u need is a ball and if u don’t have that then a water bottle will do just fine
So if i throw a water bottle into a hoop. Is that basketball?
When I was a boy, we played in the street hours and hours. If we hadn't a ball, something that happened a lot of times, we used anything to play. Papers, shoes, even stones. Little stones, of course. 😛
Two of those kids, were football players. Emilio Amavisca & Iván de la Peña. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Lazio, Spanish national team...
Football isn't expensive, or cheap. Is in your soul, and nothing can stop it.

"Its too expensive to play". Yeah, look at all the talent that comes from those millionaire families in South America.
I think in all the poor countries it's normal to play the slum way without a net and cleats but here in US I think it's more to do with the looks. That's what I loved about being in India as a kid because you could play with rocks and not look weird.
In america the system is terrible... you can’t play club without paying a crazy amount while in South America it’s more dependent on talent rather than financials which is the opposite in america

Playing organized soccer in North America can range from $300 - $1,000 a year. If you play competively there are also costs of travelling. In some cases depending on the level and age you could pay as much as $3,000 - $5,000 a season once you factor in tournament fees, travel, hotel, additional equipment etc. This can happen as early as the age of 11 - 13.

The whole world knows football (soccer) as the "world game" not only coz the whole world plays it but because ppl can make a ball and goals out of pretty much anything and play. But it's too expensive in America 😂
Nemanja Mocevic it’s because the US soccer federation is out to make a profit. It SHOULD be one of the cheapest sports to play. But it costs ridiculous amounts to get sanctioned referees, linesmen, and coaches. We also need to start developing youth academies. The US should be a top competitor because soccer is the most popular youth sport in America. It’s just ridiculous.
