This is why as a teen in the eighties we were so happy and just wanted to have fun. Nothing to serious just good music and FUN!!!
Oh, the days when my biggest dilemma was what to wear to the clubs!
Jelly!
@@vickiroman189 right on!
Perfectly said!
Cause we were free…..!!!
Van Halen was the best cure for depression there was. If you felt down, put on Van Halen
I used AC DC, but I guess Van Halen could work too
I 2nd that
Also the Beatles. My go too.
Meanwhile today's music seemingly makes it worse 😂 😬
@@barsandbarbells2022 Honestly, it really does. It's mostly about sex and bad things and girls wearing next to nothing.
Fun Fact: The part where Eddie Van Halen is at the piano blowing smoke rings, that is Valerie Bertinelli sitting on the couch in the background. It was filmed in their living room.
Metal_Head_Mark That's also her when DLR is being taken away by the cops in the hotel hallway.
@@lilorbielilorbie2496 I had no idea. Very cool. Thanks for letting me know. I like hearing little tid bits like that about the band.
Panama is one of the songs that I just crank the volume on and belt out every time it comes on the radio! There are many other bigger hits, but Panama remains one of my very favorites. Watching you two vibe to the music captures the feeling I have every time I hear it. Thanks so much for taking the time to react to this!!
It was impossible not to! Hope you enjoyed watching as much as we enjoyed reacting!
There really weren't many songs from VH that were bigger than Panama! Jump would be the only one I can think of that was bigger since it went to #1, but this song was HUUUUGE and always on the radio. I know hardly anyone listens to terrestrial radio anymore, but if you turn on a classic rock station today, you will eventually hear Panama.
I was 13 when this album came out. MTV was everything. DLRoth is the greatest front man of all time.
The car David Lee Roth drives in the video is from his own collection. It's a 1951 Mercury convertible (with four doors) christened the "California Girl." It later appeared in his video for "California Girls."
David Lee Roth was such a Showman! He really Amplified Van Halen! They were a mega Rock act when they came on the scene!! So cool to be a teenager when these guys arrived! Completely changed the landscape of rock music for ever!!
Van Halen songs are the ones you crank up full volume in the car
The greatest guitarist in Van Halen of this earth. Eddie Van Halen. R.I. P. Eddie and thank you. ❤❤❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sadly gone but will never be forgotten... *Especially by those who love great music.*
ROCK IN PEACE Eddie Van Halen.
I'm sure by now you've learned that this singer is David Lee Roth, and he was also the singer in Jump, Hot for Teacher, and Ain't talking about Love, but he was not the singer at the time the Eruption live video was filmed. He was doing his own thing at the time. You should check out his song "Yankee Rose" and cover of the Beach Boys' "California Girls". Also if you didn't know, Eddie Van Halen played the guitar solo in Michael Jackson's "Beat It".
Aahhhh, the Eighties. Good music, with videos! Classic! Movies, cars, girls, concerts, technology, we had it all! What happened?
How did I get here? This is not my beautiful house...this is not my beautiful wife!!!!
In my opinion "Panama" is one of their best songs.
R.I.P. EDDIE you will always be loved❤❤❤❤❤
Fun story, so I was an Aircraft Loadmaster in the U.S.A.F. during the Panama Invasion. There were 100's of cargo planes flying in three formations (C-130's, C-141B's, and C-5A's). No one knew where we were actually going or where we were dropping, we just knew we were flying towards Texas. The Aircraft Commander (or Pilot) said he was told to turn the BBC radio on and play it through the comms. When he did a British Announcer says (para-phrasing here...been a minute) "This is for our friends across the pond heading south, good luck" then this song began to play.
I was 25 when 1984 came out. Great album from start to finish. 👍👍🤟🤟
May 23rd, 1988. First show of the Monsters of Rock tour, Alpine Valley. A buddy and I were in the first row, on the end. No more than 15-20 feet from Eddie when, during a solo, he looked RIGHT AT US and smiled.
Rest In Peace, Maestro.
I got to interview Edward for my school newspaper in 1982. Easiest going guy I ever interviewed. Fun, smart witty and just made a starstruck kid feel important
@@kenkonwick6660 Yeah, you only hear stories about him being humble, especially for someone so talented. He and Neil Peart were two musicians I most wanted to meet (not that I ever thought I would)......that was a rough year.
Did you ever read the book about how they basically saved rock and roll, as just the biggest backyard party band in Southern CA? It was called Van Halen Rising, I think. VERY detailed.
the motor in the song was actually EVH's Lamborghini
Panama is the 8th biggest chart success for VH; 15 weeks on the charts and it peaked at 13. I'm with Peter C. below...Fair Warning, although without the chart success of other VH albums, is a killer and Mean Street is one of my fav. tunes period! Best to start with "Running with the Devil" on VH (self-titled) and hit every banger on this iconic album. Unchained Rocks!
Great Rock Band
Made Rock Fun Again
Yes!!! One of my favs by them!
As a rock guitarist all my life this is my favorite Van Halen song just because of the smokin' guitar in the breakdown. Such a great riff. I had the honor of seeing them at the 1978 Texas Jam 2 months after their 1st album debuted. Eddie's performance changed the way I saw guitar. BTW, they opened with "Runnin' With the Devil" and had us in the palm of their hand for the rest of their performance. RIP Eddie.
I'm loving the VH VIBE.they have long been one of my favorites.I'd say I've known about them for about 40 years
I love the drums on this.
their best song
My first concert I went to at 14 in 1984..Providence RI
Love this song the way it shifts into super slow-mo in the middle. .o
Great song enjoy
This is all about fun there so happy too makes me want to party your cool and love hanging out keep rocking
1984 was a badass show 🤘👍
It’s awesome watching y’all metal journey it’s like I’m seeing it all over again for the first time!!! Welcome to becoming a metal head the waters warm over here grab a black tooth and jump in!!
Did you notice Val sitting the back round when Eddie was blowing smoke rings at the piano ?
Ya Dave did all that on stage jumps, kicks, swords etc. His solo concerts were even more over the Top.
Sadly to say, RIP Eddie Van Halen. Also, in a Bob Seger song Old time Rock and Roll, the line "today's music doesn't have the same soul". Rock music from the '70's and '80's and 'some 90's were from a different time and place during a lot of people my age. The grandchildren are just now hearing all these awesome songs from their grandparents era and Loving and Jamin' to the sounds they never listen to in their lives! Wow!!! What Awesome music and bands back then, wow. You are saying to yourself, " I wished I lived during that time"! Wow! Mind blowing sounds and music! Rock On all the Hair Bands from the '70's, '80"s and some '90's!!! 🤘🤟✊🤙💥🔥
Their videos are hilarious 😂
💯
Van Halen always made you feel like you were invited to a really cool party. David Lee Roth was the Ringmaster- Clown Prince!
This was most likely their best album, in my opinion. Jump, Panama, Drop Dead Legs, I'll Wait, Hot For Teacher, all big hits.
Sorry to disagree, but it's maybe 5th best. Vh1, 5150, fair warning ou812 and carnal knowledge all better throughout
@@kenkonwick6660 lol Van Halen I, Fair Warning, Van Halen II, Woman and Children First, 1984, Diver Down, 5150, A Different Kind of Truth, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, …everything else dog shit
Are you kidding me? First album is the best always will be
Love your videos
1984 was the last album DLR recorded with the band before Eddie gave him his walking papers … Eddie Van Halen was very particular and it was mostly his way or the highway. Just to let you know
David Lee Roth lived a year in Japan to learn how to use a katana. He lived there on his own, and I don't think it was that long ago. Maybe ten years ago? He talked to Joe Rogan about it. .o
DLR era was the upbeat party rock Van Halen.
The Sammy era was the more down to earth ballad stuff.
Both great eras
Well said my friend.
Thanks!
Thank YOU John! Hope you enjoyed the trip down Van Halen lane!
Yes! Live version of Unchained from Oakland, 1981
Went to the 84 tour concert and had a blast. The stage setup was a big giant T. The floor tickets were general admission and I ended up next to the stage on the right side where the T is formed. Had way too much to drink 😊
David Lee Roth was a ham on stage and in videos and quite the performer doing neat things and silly things. That was Diamond Dave.
You should check out all the songs of the first album and go from there! The Greatest American Rock Band!!!
Great Band
David Lee Roth
Frontman’s Frontman
Eddie Van Halen
Great Guitarist
Jamie's Cryin' is worth a look.
BY FAR my favorite VH song!!! Historically, imho, the 4th or 5th best song in the history of music, behind Canon in D, La Grange, Jesu, Foggy Mountain Breakdown, Symphony #5, maybe a few others, but you get the idea. Took me almost 3 years to learn it, and I still can't smash the solo.
".....their outfits are always so extravagant" They don't call him Diamond Dave for nothing. Lol
Keturunan orang indonesia banyak menciptakan musisi
👍👍👍👍👍
Mean st a must
The one thing u will find about live vs studio VH is that DLR is so good as a showman that he loses a little vocal quality in shows. Most hi energy singers do. But he keeps enough to be good, and he works a crowd like no other(except Freddie Mercury)
I'll Wait from this album is also good. I hope you will add it to your Van Halen list.
I miss the 80s even though I wasn’t even there
Hair music at its best
Awesome! Try "Mean Street" by them, it's a banger.👍
If you look closely, when they do the pan of the audience Weird Al Yankovic gets a close up. I can't remember if you've done any of his songs (parodies) yet, but you really need to. Some of Al's songs include, but are not limited to, Another one Rides the Bus (Another one Bites the Dust - Queen) Like a Surgeon (Like a Virgin - Madonna), Amish Paradise (Ganster Paradise - Coolio), but my personal favorite is Word Crimes (Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke).
Is it really weird al? I've noticed that guy since 1984 and have alway wondered: is that really weird al or some dude that looks like him?
You guys are ready for a deep track and best live performance ever as a band (at least for Sammy years) .. 5150 off the Live Without A Net concert ... if you don't like it .. I'll renew my passport, fly north, and both of you can personally beat the crap out of me! 😂
You probably should review each track from the Live Without A Net concert that had the Guitar solo you first reviewed. All Killer no filler- plus Bass solo and Drum solo.
Try Drop Dead Legs from their 1984 album and Poundcake, Round & Round from their For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge album
Don’t listen to people. This just rocks.
Definitely do Unchained. Well worth it.
Whenever they had to lip-sink on tv or videos they played their instruments in the wrong spots on the neck to let the fans who played know it’s not live. Kinda like an Easter egg.
Check out Deep Purple’s song My Woman from Tokyo. I always thought Deep Purple, which was founded in 1968 and pretty much spearheaded early Heavy Metal, was a major influence on Van Halen’s signature sound.
Van Halen wrote about my ex one time..........."blue-eyed murder in a size 5 dress."
Here's a few great Van Halen songs to teview, mixing in Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth:
I'll wait
Right now
When Love Walks In
Mean Street
Poundcake
Hot for Teacher
Fair Warning
Dancing in the Streets
A great song and album. Fair Warning for me is the best VH album.
You should review the video of Eddie Van Halen playing this song “Panama” on the “David Letterman Show” with the house band. Paul Schafer mimics the David Lee Roth vocals on keyboards. It’s really good!!!
Reacciona a sepultura Inner self y Territory. ❤❤❤❤
Try Poison Talk Dirty toMe/ Nothin' but a Good Time.
80's Hair Metal was just all about fun
Do "Ice Cream Man" and "Running With The Devil".
I can remember when this first debuted on MTV, people were jonesing for it to come out almost as bad as people wanted Michael Jackson's Thriller video to come out( talk about hype)!
Sammy Hagar era brought us the song "Dreams" - one of my favorite VH songs!
If you want to hear Sammy solo before VH "I Can't Drive 55" is a banger. That title had become a piece of pop culture.
Sammy ruined Van Halen. He turned a hard rock juggernaut into a pop band.
Checkout Roth's solo band. Yankee Rose if you want to see what the 80s were really like.
you need to check out the Unchained So This is Love and I Don't Wanna Hear About it later little concert clip might be too long for the channel but just watch it it is from 1981 and that is what a Rock Band looks like
Check out right now by van Halen
Be sure to check out David Lee Roth's solo career!
Try icecream man the Best😊
Check out Amsterdam by Van Hagar

Not sure if you've reacted to *Hot For Teacher.* A lovely tune about a young man who learns that love is beautiful at any age. You need to watch the music video to really understand the pure message of hope... Heh heh heh.
We have!

We have! czcams.com/video/wzlABUPMVRU/video.html
The deeper songs that rock with the music is with Sammy.
That’s some diffiucult guitar playing right there.
Dave was the clown we needed at the time….And he wore it out. Awesome front-man.
Excellent tune! Give a listen to Unchained and Mean Street, then head into the Sammy era...
Unchained coming next!
I had no idea that "Panama" was the name of David Lee Roth's car until you said it here. Crazy what you learn. I've known this song for a long time, too. .o
Yall should watcj Just a Gigalo, by David Lee roth. Very funny
I see you liked lynard skynard try 38 special hold on loosely. Read there back round first
Please check out Van Halen mean Street video❤
The ultimate party band. They're the garage band that enjoy playing music and having a good time, except that they got big and play to arena's and stadium's full of people instead of backyards.
Loved Van Halen, except the Sammy gaybar years
Check out ozzy Osbourne on his own miracle man or I don’t know
Not too much comes close to early Van Halen.
Speaking of class clown, check out hot for teacher if you haven’t speaker
Did that one a long time ago!
czcams.com/video/wzlABUPMVRU/video.htmlsi=O8BoxdhxAw_ltK60
I really think you two would enjoy the entire 1984 album.
Omg 😅😅 have you done the same at the stage to day…….you have end in jayl or a mad-house…….w had fun in the 80’s……..set the clock back again…….and when the man was a MAN…..
Well….it might SAY it’s about a car….like Led Zeppelin’s song Trampled Underfoot is about “cars”….but we all know it’s about sex.
Missed Bass shaped as Jack Bottle, my 2 buddies not aloud to watch this video !Jump they could, their mom said no party bands, DLR wanted to keep being King Eddie's ,Hand really his Jester ,and King Edward of Pasadena didn't think he was funny anymore and change in style would happen, Dave had more great party's, WHILE VAN HALEN NO van hagr ,Sammy let Ed shine and they still party band, few love songs, TO be mad at Sammy dumb FnS Dave's ego mega ,Nirvana did hurt VHs fame.anyway Eddie's SON baddest new music Wolfgang VanHalen Mammoth name his B. And
Favorite song by VH, off tbh the only album I liked by them, and an amazing album at that. DLR is a weirdo, but he was hella good back then at his job. And while everyone sings EVH's guiatr, I sing Alex for his underappreciated drum skills.....a beast.
