- The Römerberg is the city center of Frankfurt. Named after the city hall - Zum Römer, it is a beautiful plaza where the Christmas market is centered each year as well as other festivals. It is bordered by the Alte Nikolai church built in 1290, and reconstructed half-timbered houses, the Paulskirche, as well as the Frankfurt Historic Museum, adjacent to the new Alt Stadt, Franconoford, and watched over by the Kaiserdom.
Easy to reach by U-4 or U-5, Dom/Römer stop, a 5-minute walk from the Hauptwache where the U-6, U-7, and all of the S-Bahns stop, or by trams #11, 12, or 14 at the Römer/Paulskirche stop.
thank you for including the bells at the beginning...one of the things i miss most!
Glad you enjoyed it. Have you looked at the other video of the Alte Nikolai, where the bells are ringing for a longer time?
@@frankfurtonfoottours2361 i just watched it. i actually prefer the pealing sound of the bells (as in this vlog), they kinda put me into a meditative frame of mind, banishing the voices in my head so that i can just be in the moment. at first it sounds like chaos and then...like snow falling in a forest.
Done a Frankfurt on Foot tour. Wonderful experience, very educational and fun. Loved every bit of it. Highly recommended. Watching this makes me miss this beautiful city.
Thank you for the review of our tour. We hope you can come back and visit again.
Wow so beautiful city 🌆
Thank you. We think it is beautiful too.
The Römerplatz was a lot prettier before WWII. All the buildings were covered in frescoes.
Lots of places were prettier before WW2.
Great video. I have a 13 hour layover and plan to visit this area. Your thoughts on visiting this area on a Sunday (November 27th) late evening? Would establishments still be open?
The Christmas market will be in full swing. Stores are closed on Sundays, but the market and restaurants are of course open until 2100.

Thanks!
Why would the city hall decor celebrate inebriation and lude behavior?
Fasching is Fasching. Also known as the 5th season.
