Corky Siegel is known internationally as one of the worlds great blues harmonica players, blues pianist, singer-songwriter, creator of CHAMBER BLUES and the sole pioneer/composer of award-winning revolutionary works that weave blues and classical forms together. Co-founder of the SIEGEL-SCHWALL BAND, and Blues Hall of Fame Inductee, Corky Siegel has a catalogue of recordings on RCA, Vanguard, Alligator, and million selling blues/classical recordings on the iconic classical label Deutsche Grammophon. His close associations with the blues masters in the earlier days of Chicago blues, his essential part in the blues rock revolution, and his surprising success in bringing together blues and classical audiences make him a pivotal (though inconspicuous) figure in modern music history. “underappreciated national treasure” - DOWNBEAT MAGAZINE.

Terrific source of information. A must for any musician interested
Saw Siegel Schwall with Leon Russell - Masonic Temple, Detroit. Saw Corky solo at Raven Gallery in Berkley, Mi. Always one of my favorite Blues groups. The first album and "Shake" are two of my all time favorites. This interview was totally enjoyable. Thank you Mark Hummel and Corky Siegel.
LOVED this convo! It was chock full of blues history and behind the scenes listen of who's who! Kudos Mark and Corky!!!
Wonderful and really interesting conversation. So much love and respect for these OGs. Thank you for documenting their stories.
Thanks for listening
Awesome!
Thanks Mark, love your channel and all you're doin for the blues. Missed the SSBand when I was a youngin but always went and seen Corkys solo shows during the 70s in chicago, and Jim Schwalls band when he was around. Corky's shows were so much fun, he's truly an all encompassing talent. Watching him play Hey Billie Jean or Angel Food Cake, wow, doesn't get any better than that. Nice to hear a fellow southsider's story
Sean Penn-Django Reinhardt movie was Sweet and Lowdown. My father-in-law made sure I watched it.
Great interview!
Corky is 80? Incredible
Audio has a slight echo to it. Room acoustics? Do the mics need to be closer ? Love your work.
This interview was done on the road with only iPad mic. Sometimes we are able to do some enhancements, other times we have to live with what we get on the fly in difficult conditions. Thank you for your patience and continued support.
