  • The Mexico City airport is a very efficient way to move around the city, in this video, we walk from the gate all the way to the metro station, deciding on taking a taxi, uber, or metro.

    The Metro system has gone "ticketless" now. You now need to get a card and load balance on it (that's what the machines shown in your video are for: you can get a NEW card there or top up one you already have). The card costs $15 (~0.85 USD) -- but you pay $20 (~1.1 USD) as it includes one trip already -- and the same card also works on several other transit options: Bus Rapid Transit "Metrobús", Light Rail, Green Buses, Trolleys "Trolebús", even the Bike Share "EcoBici" network.

    Came across this video with perfect timing. Very helpful. Thank you. I didn't realise the Metro goes to the Airport :) I'm visiting Mexico for the first time this December. Will be arriving in Mexico City on a Sunday evening.

    That walkway with the lights looks so cool. Reminds me of some lighting in cyberpunk2077. Would be even better if they changed it to colors maybe for holidays or just anytime

    Was just there at the end of March, we paid $30USD to go to Condesa, next to the Honduras embassy on Alfonso Reyes. About 12.5km away but depending on time, we had heavy traffic.
    We didn't use the taxi stand because we walked passed it though he was one of those pink CDMX that was just out there waiting and saw us, we walked all the way out to the end thinking there was Uber but there wasn't. Uber around the city was easy and super cheap and convenient. Tip the drivers more if you can. It's crazy I can take an Uber over a long distance and an instant noodle cup there was still more expensive. We didn't end up taking any form of public trans since Uber was more convenient.

    Thanks! I was just in CDMX and wanted to take...but had luggage...so it was 180 peso uber (day rate is cheaper, I think). But next time, I'll try it out!

    • @andresmoves
      @andresmoves  Před rokem

      That's a good rate, the metro is just insanely cheap but maybe because of that it can get crowded, and moving around having your luggage with you, it was probably a good idea to do Uber (especially at that rate!!!)

      Hey quick question, how did you get an Uber at the airport? I´ve read that Ubers are not allowed to pick up rides at MEX anymore

    OK from terminal 1 but not with huge suitcase and never in rush hour. Terminal 2 to Pantitlan is not recommended. Unsafe zone.

      @jakeanna6453 Před rokem

      Yeah exactly, Terminal 2 to Pantitlan is not recommended. A taxi isn't that expensive, especially if you're already paying for a flight in.

    • @KellyODo

      Can you take the aerotrén from terminal 2 to 1 to get the subway?

    • @jakeanna6453
      @jakeanna6453 Před rokem

      @@KellyODo No, I tried to take advantage of the better exchange rates in terminal 1, as well, and you couldn't take the aerotren unless you had a boarding pass for a flight leaving form terminal 1. Sorry! You may consider the linea 4 metrobus stop at terminal 2 which may take you to terminal 1 as the next stop, you'd have to double check, though.

      @@jakeanna6453 thank you! Last time I visited I took the bus to the subway but it was so confusing. What a shame they don’t allow for a transfer.
