The fact that this guy thought he could save someone from suicide by simply hugging them and not even saying anything to them just shows his level of social intelligence
The idea behind his scam, is something someone would actually think was plausible in middle school. Tik Tok people have some of the simplest minds lol.
Talking someone down is HARD! We once (probably three years ago) came across a teenager on the wrong side of the barrier on a bridge. Us and a few other passers-by tried to get him back and he wouldn't have it. He was only about 19, drunk as arseholes and had a row with his girlfriend. Then she showed up hysterical and tried starting to f*cking climb over herself! "If you jump, I'm coming with you!!!" and all that. Stupid drunk teenagers could have both ended up injured or dead. The police came along after they'd been called and we left it in their hands. (The girl actually managed to drop her phone in the river, and was even more hysterical about that than her lad being where he was, so thats how serious she was. It was infuriating) It was a fairly low bridge over a river so he was probably at more risk from drowning than the fall.
I used to work in a national park and I had some time off my job so I went to a canyon and just sat on the edge and read a book, I had a tourist spot me and awkwardly ask, “hey you’re not depressed or anything are you? As someone who has walked in the room after their best friend’s suicide attempt and had to save their life and will always feel the trauma of that night, this shit is sick. That video popped up on my shorts page a while ago and I was completely flabbergasted. Most of the comments were like, “omg he’s so sweet🥺🥺🥺” I can’t believe anyone could be this fucking stupid and insensitive to make something like this.
As a sketchy kid/teenager who went on rooftops, I had a guy try to "save me" once. There was no camera, and this was way before tik tok, so I think he genuinely had good intentions. It just got a little awkward because you could tell at first he didn't believe that I was just enjoying the view. But he went on his way quick enough, no big deal.
Even the message was empty as fuck, as someone who tried to commit suicide, a hug from a random stranger isn't going to make you better, the problem goes way deeper than that
THANK YOU CHARLIE for calling out the fake animal rescue videos every chance it comes up. a LOT of people still don’t know they exist or understand red flags to look for. unfortunately unless it’s a youtuber you already trust, you really shouldn’t trust those animal rescue videos, and always report ones that are suspicious.
I used to watch those before I realised what they were. I felt sick to my stomach that people were hurting animals for views and that CZcams did nothing to prevent it or warn people who might consume that content! A lot of viewers are probably children who don’t have the capacity to tell it’s faked. I think besides the ppl who make those videos, CZcams is the biggest culprit here because they are allowing it.
Thank you for this honestly, my father committed suicide and I was the one who found him, seeing this s*** pisses me off, just to get clout.. there's people who seriously struggle... The fact that they make this all happy and nonchalant drives me up the wall, someone who is seriously in a position like that doesn't just turn around and give someone a hug and walk away from it, attempts are always at risk of suicide for the rest of there life, once you jump over that wall to attempt, it majority of the time is your first response once again when something else serious happens in your life .. F*** that guy and whoever thought this was a great idea, suicide is nothing to take lightly and should be taken seriously and with handled with compassion not a f****** skit to get views, to anyone who sees this who may struggle with there mental health, find people you can talk to about your emotions and know it's okay to have those feelings, but more importantly a therapist can go a serious long way when taken seriously, there a safe confidential place to express your feelings, and thank you again for talking about this goof moist.. much love everyone, we need more of it!
A best friend of mine was suicidal and confronting him and trying to help was one of the most emotional and intense moments of my entire life. To script this shit and pretend it's the reality is straight up fucking gross.
The dude pulling out a camera when he sees someone he suspects is going to jump is like that scene straight out of ASDFMovie that Jacksepticeye voices. It's just like: "Hey! Don't jump!" *Sets up tripod* "Ok now you can jump!" Truly remarkable. Almost poetic in a way.
I work at a mental health unit and I feel like when a pt leaves our unit doing much better that my team has saved their life. However, I have never ever wanted to gain anything from their terrible, terrible life experience, their pain and their hard journey. This is really reallt shameful. Before this job I did work with teenagers on an unlocked unit who I have actively saved them from killing themselves. Literally lifting them down from shoestrings. It is really traumatizing to 'save someone' its really gross to fake this. This person has no idea how it actually feels to save someone from a situation like that. It's not euphoric or fun it's just pure sadness.
The vast majority of "depression" and other mental illnesses you see on apps like tiktoc are literally people who think their lives aren't "fun" enough.

Im in my 30s and only ONCE ever was I in a position to save a person. They were hit by a car, thrashed their leg, and was losing blood like crazy. I just happened to be the closest person there so adrenaline kicked in and I used my belt to tie a tourniquet, and held pressure on the wound to try and stop the bleeding. My point is, I never once thought "I should film this", also a huge crowd formed around us until the EMTs got there and not one of those people were filming either, most were instantly trying to help, because that is what normal decent people do. Like myself, they were all so caught up in what was happening. The fact that these crazy unbelievable moments seem to happen so nonchalantly to CZcamsrs and Tiktokers where their first thought is to film, should instantly tell people how fake most of these videos(skits) are.
It would've been *more* impressive if he had've walked up to the guy and asked to join him. "Hey man... me too. Me too, buddy. Lets help each other. Tie this rope around your waist. I'm tying it to me too. You push *me* off the roof, and I'll drag you off. That way, neither of us has to off *themselves."* Good samaritan to the core. 😏
I've had a few moments where I've jumped in to pull people from cars after an accident, saved a man who suffered some kind of blackout/seizure from freezing to death, most of the stuff I've dealt with were never really bloody aside from people busting their lips and nose but that arenaline kicking in and the feeling of "Oh fuck, is this person dead? Are they gonna live?" when they're unconcious is fucking wild. When I checked on that guy that was freezing to death, I checked his pulse and tried to wake him up, shook him, etc. and I couldn't get a respnse out of him but he was breathing, I laid him down on his back all the way and threw an emergency blanket on him and called EMS. Not once in that whole situation did I think of recording it. Luckily the EMT's got there within a couple minutes and were able to just barely get a response out of the guy, apparently he suffered some kind of diabetic black out/possible seizure so he laid down to prepare for it and had been there for hours, it was 8F and he was laying on packed ice on the side walk. They loaded him up and took him to the ER and I was on my way.
Thank you for bringing up the fake animal rescue videos. Those people are absolutely beyond vile and it breaks my heart to see how much of it is going on.
Or the ones where they remove botfly larvae and maggots from open wounds on dogs/cats, and you start to notice it’s the same exact dogs they “help” across many different videos
It's fucking sad. I follow a lot of genuine fosters/rescues on Insta and the fact these scammers take money/attention from those who are truly in need is sickening
Even if it was real, I’m sure the suicidal person would be really happy to hear that the only reason someone talked him out of it was for internet clout, and that this (initially) really meaningful moment was open to millions of people. I can say with 100% certainty that if he hadn’t jumped that day, after this they definitely would’ve.

I have had to talk to someone on the verge of something like this before and it was 2 hours, mostly just waiting and reassurance and it went by in what felt like minutes. It was sour and frightening, there wasn’t any immediate risk, but if the situation was walked away from it most likely wouldn’t have had a happy ending if you get where i’m going. We had to spend half a bloody hour on hold waiting for a helpline and even then it was a mostly fruitless half hour on the phone before it was hung up. Eventually it was all over and the person is safe now, but never, ever should something like this be underestimated, it is incredibly worrying and stressful and never ends by just some simple hug, it’s just disappointing to see that this person so drastically underrepresented the issue.
Charlie is the one who enlightened me on the fake animal rescue stuff. It’s something that would never have even come into my mind and now I can’t watch any rescue videos cause I’m always wondering.
I’m not a TikTok user and I probably never will be, but I saw this video in CZcams shorts and felt absolutely appalled by it. I also found that it had a ridiculous amount of support on CZcams, something like 500k likes, which also disgusted me. Just wanted to thank you for bringing this video to light Charlie.
Imagine your entire family died, your bills are impossible to pay off, you were fired from your job that you’ve been working on 5 years, and then some dipshit comes over and starts recording you 💀💀💀💀
One of the 1st things they taught me in a class on how to save lives is that in a situation like this, getting that close to the person who might jump will just make them mad, won't help for shit. Instead keep a decent distance and talk with them to find out if there's a reason why they should stay alive, de-escalate the situation, etc. Don't force a hug like the weirdo in the vid 💀
It's very dangerous, if they are in such dark mindstate they might try to jump off with you attached to them. Imagine trying to safe someone and ending up dying with them!
That’s why a video like this shouldn’t even be faked in the first place. It also shouldn’t of been recorded if it was real. Police arrive, Officer: uhh, what happened here. Me: Oh uhh, I was just trying to help him I swear. I saw this guy on tiktok who got super close up to offer a hug. I didn’t realize that I would intimidate him by my movement or the camera I set up in the back.
@@Bando710_ Put yourself in their shoes. You're so sick of life that you want to jump. You're convinced/convincing yourself to do it, deep in thought. Then? Some rando who doesn't know anything wants to decide what's good for you, grab you (and prob hold you awkwardly for 10 min). Not a fun time. People who're in that situation are typically more erratic in the moment. Weird equivalent, but it's kinda like when we were kids and we were scared to go down a big slide. If a kid behind us said "get off" or tried to get us off, we'd be pissed bc we're trying to convince ourselves that we just need a moment b4 we go down the big scary slide.
"Some people just need a hug" is a really vague, superficial and lazy way to talk about someone's issues, sure, people need hugs and affection, but i'm pretty sure that ain't no one be jumping from buildings because they haven't had a hug in a while
This is why I'm always skeptical when people post videos of helping others. On camera, people put on a show. Off camera, they could care less. Good people don't pull out their phones to show off how they save someone. Most good deeds aren't shown on camera because they're busy ACTUALLY saving someone.
yeah all of the "good deeds" that are recorded seem so fake and not genuine at all. shit pisses me off but people eat that shit up like crazy not seeing how fake it comes off being
@@kyle21843 i feel like part of why so many people eat it up is because we think of cameras as a view into someone's world. its kinda true, but sometimes we gotta think about it and think about how it isnt a view into their experiences but rather a camera that was set up and edited

My uncle was at an all time low back in the 90s. Talking about hurting himself. My dad ended up going to his house & just talking to him, helping him come to his senses. They hung out the rest of the night, drinking and just talking. I’m so happy my dad was able to talk through to him, & be there for him that night. A decade later, my uncle Sal took his life in 2006. This was a different uncle. I really wish that he had someone to talk to that night. If he did, you never know, he could still be alive today. So when people fake anything about suicide, or say anything negative about it. It really upsets me. That’s not something you just do to get “clout” for. It’s not something to lie about, or bring up to get “attention”. Thank you Charlie for calling this douche bag out. One of the many reasons why i follow you.
he placed his phone at an angle good enough to catch them in frame so he could run into frame from the side to pretend to save a guys life and give him a pat on the ass after editing a sad song over him recording while driving. absolute saint
As someone who has stopped several people from unaliving themselves and also someone who has struggled with battling those same thoughts/lost a brother to it, this greatly pisses me off. It is one of the worst feelings imaginable that affects so many more people than we can comprehend. there's a special place in hell for people that do shit like this.
tbh I'd probably assume they were filming a mental health/suicide awareness PSA for their high school video production class or something and go about my day
I remember back when I was attending college, there was a bridge connecting the dorms to the rest of campus. This bridge also goes over a central street. Whenever I wanted to get out for some fresh air, I'd stand on that bridge and listen to my IPod Shuffle. I also liked wearing a loose-fitting shirt so that when the wind blows I can feel like a badass. One day, several months after I first started doing this, I went out in the rain and stood there like normal. About 5 minutes after I started standing there, campus security showed up because someone thought I was going to jump. Luckily, I went to college before TikTok exploded so I don't think anyone was trying to farm internet brownie points.
I used to do something similar myself, really enjoyed the view, and never really thought much about how it looked to other people. That is of course until one day an officer shows up and tells me no one is allowed to stand on the bridge due to people jumping as well as assholes dropping things on cars below.
I mean, probably someone that was new to campus AND it was raining lmao, kinda a stereotypical time to actually do it, I commend someone for actually thinking and not ignoring it even though it wasnt an attempt.

As a suicidal person, you can't ever expect people to care in the slightest, this doesn't come as a surprise to me. All people will do is use you to make themselves look better.
there are people who do care, but god damn there are these ugly people who would drool for content. not all people will use you to make themselves look better, because there are a lot of people who do care. ending your own life causes more sadness than good. i hope you are doing better now
@@piiewithtwoeyes It's not true that a lot of people care. I've talked extensively with other suicidal people and they all seem to have the same impression. Most people tell you how much they'd help someone who is suicidal, and when you're suicidal they're indifferent and sometimes - I don't know by what mechanism - they become verbally abusive. Suddenly they treat you like trash that needs to be discarded. That obviously includes people like family members or therapists or colleagues, etc. For me personally, it would annoy my family if I died because of the social problems associated with having a relative die and because of the cost of a funeral. No, that's not a false impression, that's what they told me. But it is what it is.
@@iexist.imnotjoking5700 Obviously I don't know what your life is like, but that sounds more like you have a shitty family than that people as a whole don't care. If I were you, I'd try to meet new people and surround myself with friends that genuinely care for me. I can guarantee you that there are people out there like that, who will deeply care about you and your wellbeing. It's just hard to find them, sometimes. As for suicidal people having the impression that people don't care about them, I would say that when you're depressed, it's a lot easier to think that you don't matter, and that nobody cares for you. I should clarify, I am by no means a mental health specialist, and I don't have a lot of experience with this subject, so I'm sorry if I've come off as grating or preachy. I know that it probably doesn't mean much, since I'm a random internet guy, but I hope that you find people that care about you.
I can attest to this in some aspects. My first failed attempt roughly a decade ago, a janitor saw me lurking in the small inaccessible balcony connected to the side window of the highest floor in my university dormitory (it's an apartment building the university rented next to a busy main street, and the topmost floor is the 20th or so) by chance, when I adjusted my cramped position there after I fought with myself to not jump off all morning. Our eyes directly met the moment I looked inside when I raised my head slightly above the window pane and I or they didn't even hear each other's presence before that moment. Then they scurried off like they'd seen a ghost and I was discouraged to do it there since then. None of my classmates even noticed my skipping class for that day nor that they cared either lol. It's such a baffling period of my life and it took me a decade long to slowly process that it's just me who has this problem. I did talk to my family recently though.
Honestly pretty frightening that there's going to be a generation of children (and some adults) that don't question why these "saviors" take the time to set up their cameras to record these situations and THEN finally help the person. Like, people don't do that if there's an actual danger, and some of these kids may legit not realize that after watching this kind of crap over and over.
Nahhh, i used to be just as stupid until i grew up and realised those things were fake. Most kids are stupid but at least... a majority of them grow up. Sorta.
Well, at least we'll catch the ones that failed to save someone on camera. Though it's horrifying to think that even _that_ could become a trend. "I ALMOST saved this person's life - captured in 8k HDR 60fps"
As somebody who has been through a situation like this that i am happy now that im still here. I really find it disgusting this idea even came into this guys head. And why would this be somthing that he says "Hey friend, wanna act suicidal while i record it for my social?"
The biggest red flag for me was the tiktoker grabbing the "suicidal" guy. Most cases I've seen of people preventing suicide, the victim is overwhelmed with emotions and won't be able to react rationally to someone suddenly grabbing you. It takes a lot of talking and reasoning for the suicidal person to calm down and even then it's a massive 50/50 whether they will accept help or commit. First faking sick children, now suicide. Disgusting people.
a security guard did this to me when i was sitting on top of a parking garage outside of Hollywood Horror Nights, i heard him sprinting towards me and turned around to him grabbing me, i feel like if i was someone a little more skiddish i couldve gotten spooked and went offbalance and fallen like 30 stories
I also love how in the second clip with the car the dudes felt so threatened by the pure sight of the key that they immediately sprinted off while leaving their belongings behind
One of my best friends called me bleeding out on his kitchen floor after attempting suicide. I can promise you the last thing on your mind is going to be a fucking photo op.
A family friend of mine when I was a teenager jumped off a parking lot roof. And a decade or so later people are clout chasing these scenarios... Disgusting.
If he'd done this in the Dharr-Mann style, with good filmmaking and voice acting, the "you never know when someone needs a hug" message could've actually worked
That'd take a full week of planning and a whole professional production team with a good name brand for their channel, though. Dharr Mann is still too cringe to watch though tbh so only gullible people will soak it all right in without any suspicion or critical thinking.
theres actually people like this and its shocking, to say the least, these people are as equivalent to the people who pretend to help homeless people, give them food, an apartment, etc. but right after the cameras cut off they ask for everything back and throw them back on the streets, they do it all for views and fame and those people always seem to originate from tiktok.
I love how instead of racing up the parking garage to get there as quick as possible he starts recording himself and slowly creeping around in the car park.
I jumped off a bridge in august and had to call 911 myself. People legit just recorded me on the ground. Really changed my view of how people react to things.
As someone who had to talk myself out of not jumping off a bridge a few years ago This shakes to my core, the fact that people would stage something like this not knowing the affect it has on other people. I just hate this shit so much
I love how when confronted about the pictures, the suspect bolts leaving behind his backpack. After all, taking pictures with a strangers car is a felony punishable by death.
My dad was a paramedic in the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. Not once did he ever tell me stories about saving people’s lives. Instead he told me crazy stories of wild shit he had to deal with that were pretty funny.

@@kyle21843 i feel like part of why so many people eat it up is because we think of cameras as a view into someone's world. its kinda true, but sometimes we gotta think about it and think about how it isnt a view into their experiences but rather a camera that was set up and edited

there are people who do care, but god damn there are these ugly people who would drool for content. not all people will use you to make themselves look better, because there are a lot of people who do care. ending your own life causes more sadness than good. i hope you are doing better now
@@piiewithtwoeyes It's not true that a lot of people care.
That sucks, i really hope your doing better now@@MollyHJohns
Honestly pretty frightening that there's going to be a generation of children (and some adults) that don't question why these "saviors" take the time to set up their cameras to record these situations and THEN finally help the person. Like, people don't do that if there's an actual danger, and some of these kids may legit not realize that after watching this kind of crap over and over.

@@MollyHJohns yeah but at least children could get SOME value out of it, meanwhile not lying to anyone that its real
theres actually people like this and its shocking, to say the least, these people are as equivalent to the people who pretend to help homeless people, give them food, an apartment, etc. but right after the cameras cut off they ask for everything back and throw them back on the streets, they do it all for views and fame and those people always seem to originate from tiktok.
“I saw someone pacing looking over the edge so I set up my camera”
Gotta love he started filming while driving. Putting in theory actual lives on danger
I love how instead of racing up the parking garage to get there as quick as possible he starts recording himself and slowly creeping around in the car park.
Yeah imagine if it was real and the guy jumped before he got there. Dude would have that on his conscious forever
Honestly, on the really bad days, a beautiful sunset like that was enough to make me stop. Thats the most unrealistic part to me LMAO
Charlie saves me from cringe everyday - one look at him and cringe TikToks are out of my mind while I soil my britches out of excitement

Holy bots

They all have 1k+ comments on this channel LOL
We need to make a MoistCritikal Status meme video where he saves the viewer from TikTok cringe
I'm so glad Dave Grohl is exposing these people.
Who? all i see is a young Keanu telling us about Tiktok
It's Jesus from the bible 2
You're all blind. That's obviously Steve Aoki
@@RandoWisLuL wasn't Keanu that guy from Nirvana?

The first joke in asdf movie10 preatty much sums up this whole situation
I jumped off a bridge in august and had to call 911 myself. People legit just recorded me on the ground. Really changed my view of how people react to things.
"How fake would you like this to be?"
"Yes"

That rental tag on his keychain is the greatest slipup of all time

Dude’s Tesla literally has a built-in dashcam that would have made it look way more real than setting up his phone to record it
As someone who had to talk myself out of not jumping off a bridge a few years ago
This shakes to my core, the fact that people would stage something like this not knowing the affect it has on other people.
I just hate this shit so much
I love how when confronted about the pictures, the suspect bolts leaving behind his backpack. After all, taking pictures with a strangers car is a felony punishable by death.
That was the fakest, most awkward hug I've ever witnessed at 2:44
Below pewdiepie level handshake
My dad was a paramedic in the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. Not once did he ever tell me stories about saving people’s lives. Instead he told me crazy stories of wild shit he had to deal with that were pretty funny.
I survived my suicide attempt and I wish I didn't.

Second try is the Charm.
@@Real_Digiwigi I plan to after I get back home..currently in the hospital handcuffed to a bed
Try harder
The guy tried to jump off the parking garage after he got caught leaning against the rented Lamborghini. This is a series and I can't wait for part three
You can see a hint of real anger in Charlie's face when he describes the fake animal rescue videos. He often talks about stuff that makes him mad but to see him actually being pissed off is something else lol
Not surprised, just the thought of is just genuinely infuriating
Oh no, he was PISSED. Rightfully so
If that person who’s gonna oof himself has gotten to that point, then they’ve lost all hope in their life and a simply hug won’t change that.
i love how he changes the cars position to get the sunset in to the shot truly a cinematic visionary genuis XDXD
A truly good person does the right thing when nobody is watching and expects no reward
yes, it is called integrity.
