I’m gay and I understand both sides. I don’t think toys have any influence on your sexuality but Peter also has a right as a dad to try and give his child direction. That’s what my parents did. Once I was 18, my parents let me live my life the way I wanted too. I’m grateful that they allowed me to be me but also gave me guidance.

I don’t think it was so much about Peter telling his son he can’t wear the ladybug outfit. I think there is a deeper issue here, Peter embarrassed Amina on TV multiple times by cheating on her, trying to get back with Tara and having a baby on her. She’s hasn’t properly healed from it that’s why she felt she could embarrass him like that and it’s wrong.

Kid's can be cruel, heck, society in general can be cruel and I know that all too well, so when my daughter comes to me with toys or costumes that society deemed back in the day, are for little boys, my natural reaction is to say, "hey you know those are for boys right?". That doesn't mean I'm against people for who they choose to be or who they choose to love, it's just a natural reaction I have, to protect my daughter from being made fun of. Now if my daughter insists that she wants the thing in question, of course I get it for her. I just want to make sure she's deciding on something because it's what she wants that way I can back her up if she needs me to. I want my daughter to make her own educated choices, to the absolute best of her ability and I want her to understand that sometimes consequences come with those choices. We need to be fully open with our children, and unfortunately these days, that includes exposing them to the hate they might receive, but also teaching them to rise above it and be better than that. We can't expect change and progress, without openness and honesty. People fear things they don't understand. I could care less if my daughter loves men or women, wants kids or doesn't and so on, but that doesn't mean I don't want her to understand why she feels that way and that feeling that way is okay, but that it may bring hate her way from others around her. She needs to be prepared for it so she can learn ways to deal with it.

The problem is folks of this day and age forget that it is the PARENTS responsibility to raise their child. Teach them wrong and right. You don't have the child make the decisions for themselves. While they are still a child you are the one that dictates everything for them. When they are old enough THEN they can dictate their own but in the real formative years YOU the parent are responsible for steering them correctly.
Well it's kind of hard for that to happen with some parents. You got kids who will never get a chance to have that type of decision. You got some kids who parents are deceased, jailed, or simply don't know who there dad is due to family mishaps.
