Sheep Updates and New Feed Mixer

In this video we talk about our feed mixer that we've been using to mix our feed rations. We also give an update of the breeding situation, as well as spread straw using the straw spreader.

Just wondering why you put your bales in the straw spreader that way rather than on the round?

Depends on the straw, sometimes the beaters would kick the bale and it keeps rolling away when trying to push it through. If straw breaks apart easily then you could put it the other way....

Do you start your lambs on that same diet that you mix? Is it very hard getting them going to not sort it out? Just trying to figure a new way to feed my lambs because pelleted feed is so expensive per ton

I did feed a pellet to start them off, but looking to make my own feed for them going forward. Not too much trouble with sorting. Feed is crazy high right now though, hardly any way around it.

Hiw big is your barn? Do you keep sheep out on pasture threw the winter for barn space

The barn measures 204 ft by 40 ft is definitely too small for all my sheep to be in the barn through the winter so it's very tight. And as a matter of fact, right now we're building another barn that's 40x120 same type of building.
