- Hi everyone! I hope you're having a joyous holiday season and are excited for the new year. For Christmas I wanted to surprise you all with the return of the beloved storytime. Today I'm telling you all about my first ever job as a camp counselor as a continuation of my work horror story series. Enjoy!

This is exactly why I don’t let other people (except for a very small group of people) watch my children. I want people who care about the child’s safety (like YOU!) and not some organization with rules like that.
After working there I definitely don’t think I would ever send my child to a camp like that in the future! My sister’s sleep away camp was excellent but it’s hard to tell if somewhere is sketchy because this camp I worked at put on a good front for sure!
Wooooooow!!! What a sheisty camp!! Sometimes rules are meant to be broken when a person’s safety is at risk. So glad you still stood your ground a little bit even at the age of 16!!
My cousin worked at a day camp when he was in high school that was super shady like the one you worked at. They'd fire people for no or total ridiculous reasons, they very little safety protocols for the children, the coordinators / head people in charge were super rude and snazzy. It got so bad apparently that it ended being shut down the yr after he graduated.

Who in their right mind, would scold you and throw a rule like that in your face when you were literally saving a childs life?! i hope this coordinater neeeeever worked with kids again after getting fired. Man this made me angry 😡 Well done you, for having a head on your shoulders and keeping that kid and all the kids safe ♥
I'm a southern Maine gal, used to work as a municipal lifeguard back in highschool and YES those summer day camps can be chaotic - good on you for making camper safety your absolute first priority!! Loving the farmhouse and storytime content, would you ever do a makeup tutorial video??
I could definitely incorporate my makeup into a future video! I don’t normally wear any these days except if we’re going out to do something or if I’m making a video like this where I’m talking a lot to the camera. I’ll keep that in mind for a future vlog!

I can't believe there were no lifeguards! I worked at a day camp on a whole team of lifeguards, they would put 4 us of at the pool at once! Maybe overkill, but better than what happened with you!
Some of the campgrounds we went to had them on duty but yeah to my knowledge there were no trained lifeguards among the counselor staff! I really hope they’ve changed their protocol since then!
When my sister worked at a summer camp, they made a requirement that all counselors had to have lifeguard certification. Not only that, if they weren't certified, they had them take the test.

Can you tell the story about the horrible neighbors you and your husband had? You promised at the end of one of your last videos before you moved. Also, good on you for doing what you did! I worked for a camp somewhat like that. Not as corrupt, but definitely not organized well

Can you bring back the stories of the insane maid of honor & bridesmaid you had to deal with?
Unfortunately no. Some people took the stories way too far and I had issues with doxxing. They were meant to be fun stories to tell, but ended up just causing social media channels to be harassed and stalked, so they’ll be staying down!

We had 40 hours of training prior and I agree that basic lifeguard training should have been mandatory!
@@TheNightOwl1212 my sister worked at a summer day camp years ago. Unlike your job, she HAD to be lifeguard certified. She technically wasn't a lifeguard all the time, but there were some days she had to fill in.

Nope! It was a city run rec department camp
