    Vehicles will make it a lot less tedious to do those missions where you track down an employee who quit and decided that squatting in a cave on an uninhabited planet is a better life than having a paid job with food and shelter.

      I just started playing again and forgot the mechanics of the game. One of those scientists asked me to go track down their friend and it was like halfway across the damn planet 😅

      I got one of these the other day, and the quest marker was still pointing at the employee who gave me the quest to track down his coworker who'd ran away. Turns out he was selected as the employee who'd ran away. So I was tasked by an employee to find himself after he ran away from the outpost, before he even had a chance to run away.

      That's why I stopped doing those missions.
      Also, sometimes I look at the map and find myself wanting to go check out a POI, but look at the distance and change my mind.
      I will probably do them when I have a vehicle. Sometimes you get a surprise at POIs. Like finding a Heat Leech hatchery instead of UC Soldiers training at an observation deck.
      If I ever see a Starborn ship come down I will speed over there too. That's a nice collection of XP points if it drops off a squad of soldiers.

    Just remember that Skyrim almost didnt have horses in the game. And horse combat was eventually put in with the Dawnguard dlc.

    I hope it is an added ship component, separate from the landing bay, like it's own garage, and enterable from within any habs next to it. Yeah, it'll throw off whatever your CURRENT ship looks like, but that's kind of the charm to me, you can decide to have one or not... I would be kind of disappointed if it just spawns next to your landing bay on planets

    Land vehicles could be a big tipping point for the game's public perception, but Bethesda needs to get it right. A lazy implementation will do more harm than good and could just give people something else to laugh at.

      @PaulojnPereira My prediction was that they will give a basic vehicle as a free update, then release others as "mods" (aka paid DLC). But Bethesda saw the reaction when they tried that model with the Vulture DLC, so I don't know how they'll do it. They can never just finish the game for free, though.

    Hopefully they add some utility to vehicles like mining and resource scanners, personally to move from POI to POI I don't think the distances require a vehicle, but for finding a good spot to place an outpost it would be perfect, and for that it needs an outpost resource scanner.

    Damn, forgot something else. Land vehicles will be very useful. In the factory game Satisfactory, thee playable area is just slightly smaller than the land areas on Starfield planets. As soon as I unlock it I use the Explorer(dune buggy) everywhere I travel on the map. Walking/running takes too long to go from one side of the map to the other.

      @@sssshhhh317 Satisfactory feels bigger because it is very dense. Everything is hand placed.
      Starfield is open and mostly randomly generated.

    Honestly I would like it to be a ship module because I can’t see a light fighter ship have a vehicle. I can easily rework one of my ships to have bay. There are caveats for this, the bay also gives cargo and has landing thrust included with it.

      I love the idea of the ship module, I think it gives the vehicle some logic and variety with it being from different manufacturers and I think it’s a realistic way to integrate it as part of your ship.
      And for those who don’t want it attached to their ship don’t have to either which is good.

    I almost guarantee it will be a garage/pad that you can make at your outposts.
    If its a new planet, you will have to make an outpost just to drive it.
    I really don't see them adding a landing bay on ships...

    Raised some really good questions here. I’m excited for what it means for cities when it comes to modding. All the current locations are walkable but with vehicles, maybe molders can expand the area. Lots of potential for stuff!

    Did anyone else notice that in the video clip of the vehicle, Vasco was hanging off the back? Looks like companions will jump in with you going off of that. Personally, I think a new vehicle bay would be the way to go. Every manufacture will have a vehicle bay that you can mount on your ship. It's more realistic and immersive that way. I would like to see multiple land vehicles with different designs and specs. It'd be nice to upgrade them or even build them like the ships. Also being able to see NPCs driving around in their own vehicles would be cool.

    We'll have one vehicle, it may be customizable. It will live in the landing bay near vasco. Starvival's author will implement the fuel mechanic as a starvival addon.

    A floating vehicle would be a Starborn vehicle the Creator technology defies gravity so that would be your floating speeder. Getting a Starborn vehicle with the NG+ would be good idea.

    Maybe it’ll be an addition to the ship builder, like how the modules in the equipment tab.
    Would be cool if we can have a robotics bay/workbench that allows us to customize Vasco or build a robot our selves.

    I think land vehicles will be very handy on empty planets and moons because right now, running on these planets can be very tedious. But with land vehicles, it will make traveling empty worlds not as slow.

    I really hope vehicles are not implemented the way you want it. It feels more realistic to have a vehicle bay were the vehicle is stored in, were you get in the vehicle and drive out of the bay onto the planet.

    Vasco can be the vehicle, or at least the assistant of it, wirelessly, so he doesnt have to get inside. Could be neat, also I hope there is a special garage unit for parking in, just popping out seems odd.

    The " travel to unknown" mod let's you travel to anything on your scanner. Now if I want, I can walk around and survey or hunt. If not, I can just fast travel to where I want to go. It really takes a lot of the boredom and frustrations of Starfield.

    Well they did manage to get a two man space buggy into the landing platform of the Apollo landing modual. So it should be do able. To my mind there are two ways to go, small vehicles that do fit in the landing bays for small fighter ships and bigger custom bays for your bigger craft. I'm ok with redesigning a ship around this consept, its all about adapt and evolve. new tech brings new possibilities. Another ossibility would be a vehecle building hab for outpost giving the option to buy from the ship builder tech or build your own at your base. Either way looking forward to thenew update.     Another thought; what if the land vehicles don’t even ‘belong’ to your character. And instead, maybe they’re just a piece of equipment that you ‘may’ find - not on every plant - but just some planets and you can hop in and use it? For me, that would suck too. But. It would do away with the problem of your ship is expected to transport it.

    I hope the vehicle does NOT spawn outside ship. You should have to drive it off and drive it back on. It should work with maybe one of the existing landing bays (is it the hopetech one??), and then they should add a few new landing bays that can accommodate it. It should require fuel to drive and you can run out of fuel. Prepare prepare. You should have to navigate around rocks, but it should have thrusters like the SRVs in Elite Dangerous

    It will be an extra bay for your ship that holds the vehicle and will lower a ramp for it. Likely just an optional attachment for ships. Just a guess. But it's the only thing that makes sense.

    Could be a collapsible vehicle like the Apollo Lunar rover, which would fit in the "NASA punk" aesthetic. The Apollo rover could fold up really small, so if they follow a similar approach, it could stick to the side of the the landing bay (or even in a box on the front). But personally, I hope they make you buy one in-game and find a spot you like in the ship builder, especially if it needs a whole bay.

    There should be 2 different chassis for a rover like a motorcycle type and a 4 seat vehicle type. Motorcycle/speedsters for smaller ships and rovers for larger ships. Also spacers and the crimsons can have their own rovers you can steal and register to sell.
    What I want to see is a DLC to travel and help broke down starships or go find missing starships. Have an ability to tow them back to a space station. Maybe even set ups where we get ambushed by spacers or a mission where it turns star field in to a horror game. Like entering a ship that’s been missing for a few months but looks like it’s been gone for years or decades as if they entered another dimension then came back. Finding logs of the crew on board piecing together just what happened. Then fighting some crew members that are infected by the unknown alien virus. Have a mission board for it at a kiosk or a portable tablet for emergency calls. Like someone getting attacked or a downed ships SOS on a planet. Having another alliance for all this so when you fly around you have random encounters with the other rescue alliance members.

    Giving us access to land based transit, I wonder if they change the map characteristics to increase the “chunk” of the planet loaded for you to explore. I have ran to the limits, and while it was painfully slow, it wasn’t as far away as most would think. Minutes, not hours. You might get around so quickly in a rover that you hit the borders quickly and might get a little bothered by it.

    i really wonder how it works with different gravitation on planets ? a vehicle makes only sense on some planets but on one with low gravitation the next slope catapults you in Space .

    Bethesda needs to add orbital aliens to the game. Adding aliens that are only susceptible to spacecraft weapons would help bring life to the empty void of space. These aliens are more dangerous but are only space bound enemies. They could even introduce legendary space aliens in the game . It would give the player another class of enemy to fight. I would give them ranged attacks and melee dmg attacks . Then legendary aliens can use em damage

    I'm new to Starfield maybe a month now. I know this game has way more potential. I need online play to link up with other Space Cowboys/ Cowgirls and Space Rebel's. No Space pirate here. True space fighting more flying just in orbit in the planet as well high altitude flying being able to orbit in the planet and leave the ship with a smaller ship or pod. Like to see my ship land on any planet not land and place avatar out of ship with no spacesuit on. In fact the game did not always do that???

    Vehicles we can build like our ships. It would be cool if they just added a land vehicle bay to your ship and a garage for outpost. Then steal other lad vehicles or buy them at garages

    Nice vid light. I really want to see this vehicle update really be explored with maybe weaponized vehicles and enemy vehicles and maybe races too.     I just don't see much point in the vehicles being added to likely get stuck on the terrain. I'm not interested in being able to more quickly investigate the abandoned blah for the fkteeth time. I'd be interested in building a bay to hold it on my ship but don't have much use for the game outside my ship. Modders have improved my ship building experience but haven't had time to make the rest of the game not crap. I do hope you all enjoy whatever they put outside my ship.

    First time viewers are like "Dude, what is this amazing looking Star Wars game?"
    Land vehicles could be like the Lunar Rover was. It folded up into a small size that fit on the side of the Lunar Lander. You could buy it as a ship upgrade. Just stick it to the underside of the ship or wherever on the ship. When you land the vehicle unfolds and is ready to drive. Take off it automatically folds up and reattaches to the ship. No need for new landing bays.

    Not many roads on most planets, and no technology for a magically hovering car like you see in Star Wars, except for maybe some theoretical harnessing on whatever gravitational force the artifacts are having. Driving on undiscovered planets on wheels is bound to be a very bumpy and slow ride, and is a nightmare to program due to all the gravitational differences from planet to planet. To me, a faster jetpack or miniature airplane of some sort would make more sense than bouncing around on a tiny buggy through a thick forest or on a rocky or even sandy surface. Maybe I am missing something obvious here.

    should have been vanilla launch items. would have received much less hate if you weren't stuck trotting for hours to get anywhere on their 1000+ planets they were so proud of and ended up being empty fishbowls

      @@skyriminspace 1000 empty planets is a valid complaint when the number of planets to explore was one of their selling points. Having quicker travel, or POIs closer to each other (i.e. FO4) would have offset it

      Yeah launch would have been much better if they had vehicles. But still expectations were too high and they Todd Howard promoted it as the next big thing which this game was not. I think cyberpunk has inspired other studios to fix their games and hope for a comeback. What cyberpunk did is unprecedented and is a great example to follow for broken games at launch.

      @@StoicPhilosophyyyy agreed. Both Cyber77 and NMS both really fixed their failed launches, but both feel like a full price full release early access game. Good now but man companies need to not do that

      @@StoicPhilosophyyyy if expectations are too high that's on the individual. That's something we each learn over time.
      Starfield's 45 minute "direct" presentation was extremely accurate (except for not showing load screens) & didn't over sell the game at all.
      They absolutely learned from their own, & from CDPR's mistakes.
      Starfield is way better now than at launch & i think it will continue to improve.
      The bottom line for me is that not every game suits every gamer. People act like if they didn't like a game then it must automatically be a bad game.

    When they drop the vehicle update, whining gamer brats who didn't understand the game in the first place, will still review bomb.
    If you upgrade your charcter in a certain way and use amp or frostwolf... You can move as fast as any vehicle. Not to mention that half of these planets will be difficult if not impossible to traverse with a vehicle.

      @@honinakecheta601 for me personally it's the sheer level of detail in the ships, weapons, suits, interior spaces. The grounded sci-fi style really hits the spot for me.
      I love the perks system they've done this time around.
      Ship building is off the chart amazing.
      Some of the stories are pretty engaging/compelling. I actually really like the main story.
      & it's basically a game with near infinite potential for expansion through mods & dlc.
      Like all Bethesda games it's a complete mix of dialogue, combat, crafting & other systems which make it feel like two or three different games rolled into one.
      Modular survival difficulty settings are great fun, i've now modded out enemy names, health bars, & compass marking & combat has become really intense.
      NG+ is great, works very well in a Bethesda style game.
      The games you play are good in your opinion, that might be the key here!

      @@skyriminspace that’s all very good you can see those redeeming qualities! For the sake of the game, I hope more people realize this as well since it seems like it’s not doing very well in terms of active players. I am especially looking forward to modding to help make the game better, although the paid mods are ridiculous imo. I guess I’m just grateful there are other games I can play that occupy my time as I wait, I never bought star field, but saw how disappointing it was via gameplay videos and hearing about it from others that purchased it. I don’t think I’d buy it unless it started to have modability similar to Skyrim or even older games such as morrwind. Only time will tell. Thanks for sharing what you liked about it 👍🏽

    Vehicular are a waste, most planets have so much shit in the way navigating around obstacles would take longer than boosting everywhere. Mounts make more sense since you can already breed critters and Bethesda already has mounts in other games so the physics are already there and they are easier to maneuver in the game world.
