Sony knew how to generate hype and excitement that slow build to the reveal was perfect, MS was like hey here's a boring shoe box no excitement no reaction videos for it but Sony did it right.
When Microsoft revealed the XBSX, it was during the game awards, so whoever reacted to that show surely reacted to that.

The two tone design is really great. Looks really futuristic and clean. Then the hint of the blue led lights to match the controller is really nice touch. The fact they incorporated the air vents into the design itself is smart. I don’t know if you noticed but all the products have a rubberized material on them. I’ve seen up close photos of the controller and the camera and the texture on them are a circle, square, X and a triangle. I believe that is the texture on the inside flaps on the console as well. It’s a really nice touch, and really thought out all the little details.

Way to win it for the team, Sony! I been a loyal customer all my life and looks like I have no plans on stopping.
The idea to go dual tone color was a smart move by Sony. Imagine this Playstation coming in multiple colored variations. I personally would *LOVE* a version that's black with the inside being red. One of the reasons for this is because i have a limited edition Metal Gear Solid Black and Bordeaux Red PS4 and that combination is just sexy as fuck.

Funny thing is, this is a return to form (no pun intended) for Sony. Sony has always leaned heavily into design and aesthetics for their products, especially in the 80's and early 90's. They lost their way around the 2000's, but I'm seeing more and more beautiful designs come from Sony. There's a reason it's white. It's meant to be seen. It's meant to be looked at. It's meant to draw you in and tempt you to play.
It's not just trying to be another box under your TV. It's demanding attention.
