  • Today’s Slovakian adventure starts at Košice and takes us to over the Polish border to Muszyna. We join our special train, again hauled by our affectionately named “Grumpy Diesel” No.T478.1201 for the first leg to Sabinov in North-Eastern Slovakia passing through pretty countryside, following the course of the Hornád, Torysa and Svinka rivers.

      Hi Phil, it was pictures in books when I was young that sparked my desire to travel, I had a Ladybird book of trains with an amazing photo of a train in the Swiss Alps. At that age Switzerland might as well have been on the moon, I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I might actually visit the spot featured in the photograph. I have been lucky in life and I enjoy both watching and making CZcams videos. I wish CZcams had been around when I left school, I would have found a way to turn it into a career, rather than a hobby.

      @@Timsvideochannel1 Hi Tim, unfortunately my travelling has mostly been of the armchair variety. But born in 1946, I spent many happy hours trainspotting on Preston station in the days of steam in the late 1950's. Also at Colchester where my favourite locomotives were Sandringham 4-6-0s and Brittania's on the London to Norwich expresses. So I guess railways must be in my blood. I have just discovered cab rides and have already explored a lot of Switzerland and Bulgaria (what a contrast those two countries are!). Look forward to viewing more of your videos soon...that is when I am not walking the sea wall from Dawlish to Dawlish Warren on a day out from my Plymouth home.

      @@plymptonpleb The seawall at Dawlish is one of my favourite locations, seaside holidays, westerns, warships, peaks, class 47's, I spent many happy holidays there in the past. Train spotting at Preston in the 50's must have been awesome, I can just remember seeing steam at Birkenhead, Chester and Liverpool Limestreet. I live on the South coast, the Brighton to Plymouth/Exeter train was one of the last steam hauled trains in the country, it used to pass my home about the same time as I got home from school, there was also a steam hauled freight that pulled up at the signal outside my bedroom window around 10 o'clock every night. I took it all for granted, how I'd love to slip back in time to witness those sights again. I enjoy cab-rides, reminds of travelling along the North Wales coast and the Blaenau Ffestiniog line in DMU's with a clear view of the line in front.

    Hey Tim. A fantastic video. Lots of greenery around although there were some patches of dry, desert areas all around as well. At 31:50 some under construction structure was being built over the railway tracks. Was that for a road bridge or for a foot over bridge?

    Another great video from the master. One thing has me puzzled. Why did the two trains keep passing each other? It almost appeared to be a game to them.

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  Před 5 lety

      Hi Larry, this was an interesting tour, both trains were run by RTC (the company that arranged the tour). This meant that they were in a position to ask the railway authorities to for permission to timetable the two trains to run next to each other and the drivers made sure we enjoyed ourselves with the trains passing each other on many occasions giving almost unique photo opportunities. I will be uploading more videos from this trip, taken from the rear of the train and as one of the passengers leaning out of a window.

      @@Timsvideochannel1 Thanks Tim for the explanation. I have always looked forward to your videos. Your videos in Colorado, New Zealand, Switzerland, and many other locations have increased your viewers knowledge of other countries. Hi Larry, I hope you had a good Christmas and I look forward to sharing more of my adventures next year. You Tube have done the right thing and removed my videos from the site that was pirating them. To be fair to CZcams they have a system that brings copies of my videos to my attention, but this guy had found a way around it. I rarely issue take down notices, as most channels either use my videos as background to music or as short advertising clips for places to visit, with the video footage used credited to Timsvideochannel1. That's fair enough. I hope you are looking forward to the New Year, I know I am. Best wishes and seasons greetings. Tim from West Sussex, England.
